    UPS flight 705 (Boeing 747-8F) arrives at the Los Angeles Int'l (KLAX) during peak hours on the VATSIM network in Microsoft Flight Simulator. Things get a bit heated on frequency.

    4:35 is actually a conflict alarm in vSTARS, which, given how busy SoCal airspace was I'm kinda surprised there was only one that got transmitted over frequency

      @@JJMomoida Yup, basically there is a thing called VATSIM. The VATSIM network allows for multiplayer between almost every simulator, X-plane, MSF2020, MSFX, etc. VATSIM has their own controllers who are trained and operate the different airports. You can actually become a controller but it takes a lot of work and I'm in the midst of training for it lol.

    Always entertaining. Don’t know if you want any pointers but couple things I noticed.
    1: Airline definition of a “Stabilized approach” is for you to be fully configured (Flaps & Gear) and on GS & LOC by 1000’ AGL. Then on speed by 500’. In case you wanted to dial in your procedures more. Usually we swing gear and start final configuration of Aircraft about 5mi from to hot those parameters every time.
    2: Shut Down engines before turning off beacon. Beacon is used to let ground personal know when to approach aircraft to put in chocks and get ground power hooked up. They don’t want to approach the A/C till engines are winding down.
    Minor things but you seem to appreciate getting things accurate.

    Seeing the problem between the pilot and the ATC in the first minutes, I assume that missing navaids and incorrect approach/depart patterns is a regular occation if you are not running a paid Navigraph NavData with a matching SimBrief AIRAC cycle plan, and you are programming the whatever approach using the default msfs nav data. Assuming you don't have access to charts as well (didn't find any via Google Search and you don't have a navigraph chart sub), is this a regular thing that you'll get scoulded by the VATSIM ATC for calling out a missing nav point? The pilot had the wrong vibe going while calling out "unable", but I get their position.

    • @chrischain_
      @chrischain_ 2 года назад +23

      You're probably right about the first part. But at least for any US flying, all up to date charts are publicly available (by the FAA, and hosted for easy use on skyvector for example) so not many excuses to have the wrong charts. Though I can see it becoming an issue if they don't have the right procedures loaded into the sim GPS/FMS which just having the up to date charts might not help with the actual procedure flying.

Found out that if you say, “just want to confirm that you are refusing an ATC directive” they tend to cooperate real quick. My OM went directly to his company as soon as he heard me say that. Hehe ;)

    The IJN Musashi was the second of the two Yamato class battleships built for the Imperial Japanese Navy (IJN) during world war Two. Unlike her Yamato counterpart Musashi lacked the 4 inch tertiary guns that the Yamato had and instead had 4 turrets of 6 Inch guns instead of only 2 like on the Yamato. Musashi also had less Anti Air guns than the Yamato, though she still had AA (Anti Air) guns, she had far less of them. Musashi and Yamato both supported 9 main guns (3 on 3 turrets) of 18 inch (460mm) diameter shells and 6 inch (155mm) secondary guns, though the Yamato only had 6 of these. The Musashi had a top speed of 27.5 knots and a range of 7,200 nautical miles at 16 knots. Musashi and Yamato were both powered by Kanpon Water-tube boilers with a total power 150,000 shp (Shaft Horsepower). While the Yamato was the more famous of these battleships, the Musashi was designed as the flagship of the IJN fleet. The Musashi happens to be my favorite battleship due to its sheer firepower and ability to withstand significant blows and still stay afloat, the Yamato however, does also have a lot of firepower too but it has slightly less due to it having less 6 inch secondary guns. Both Musashi and Yamato had 16 inch Armour covering the hull and several parts on the ship. Sadly the Musashi was sunk during the battle of Leyte Gulf on October 24th, 1944.

      The 208 is a good aircraft to fly at the beginning, it's pretty forgiving, built like a tank, and the stock version has a G1000. When you start with airliners, I'd strongly recommend the FlyByWire A32NX mod over the stock A320 as it allows you to pull a SimBrief flightplan right into the FMS. The Airbus is also really easy to learn how to fly and the autothrottle and autopilot systems are pretty quick to learn. I'd recommend P Gatcombs channel for quick vids on how to use both the G1000 and airliner systems.
