@@kellen_fn Yea definitely see that… if this helps, us controllers could care less. We see it all the time and we understand that people (including us) mess up sometimes.
@@kellen_fn Don't be scared, most people are too busy worrying about what's coming out of their own mouth. This applies to all aspects of life! Maybe not in a courtroom 😅

@@TheFlightDoc I have the absolute privilege of flying a 737 for a day job. It’s cool watching people really get into their hobby but not take it too seriously and still have fun with it.
@@JM87Fly I find planes really interesting and I'd consider one day learning to fly if not for disabilities which I think could potentially make it very dangerous (I cannot drive a car for the same reasons). I've been a passenger on planes more often than most as my family moved around the world quite often growing up, often on long haul flights, e.g. Auckland to London via Hong Kong. I have a lot of respect for what you do!
As a VATSIM controler, always happy to see newcomers enjoying our network :)
London isn't the easiest place to start, but after a while, you kinda start knowing what they're going to ask you if you fly a few times there. If you want an other challenge, try Germany on a week end :p Or hey, come to see us in Paris sometimes.

The first time of getting clearance is the most stressful. But if they aren't busy the ATC will help you out!

Love your channel! I have been flying on Vatsim for a while but was in the exact situation you were here! I did my first flights as VFR Circuits at a GA Aircraft.
Thats awesome! Did you progress to IFR and more complex aircraft?
@@TheFlightDoc Yeah. Started of VFR doing circuits then flights between two aerodromes.
Then started doing IFR flights with ATC and once I was confident, moved to IFR flights in the B737 and A320, kinda like IRL. Still yet to do my first transatlantic.
This is mad exciting but must be hugely stressful.. You did awesome job.. I watched a beyond atc video yesterday, I could see that being used for training as a nicer intro to talking to real atc
It was the most stressful the first time around and it has gotten exponentially easier every time afterwards :) I did a video on Beyond ATC, I liked it as a tool for when vatsim is offline (a common occurence living in Australia!) and for training ifr for vatsim :)

Nice video - just discovered your channel and I like your content. Vatsim ATC are very understandable and help you if you say to them you are new, take it slow and I don’t suggest playing vatsim on large events like *cross the pond or anything where airports are very busy. You’ll get there someday and be a pro

As a Not A Pilot vatsim rookie, I fully agree with the nerves of the whole thing. For a game with nothing on the stake, man do I feel judged when I mess up :)
That being said, takeoff clearance readback you didn't give the runway, just the A3 intersection. But not being judgey, this is why I fly MSFS not a real plane, I can't keep up with flying & talking 1/2 of the time. GG.

If this is the FBW A32NX I suggest upgrading to the dev version, since it's got way more features and less glitches. Keep it going and hope you have fun on vatsim!

Man I'm getting old. I use to play it all the time as a kid. Ive never played the modern one though. I use to live next to an AFB and go to the airshows all the time. I wanted to be a fighter pilot when I was young

I've been flying MSFS2020 since release and the only reason I have never joined Vatsim is because I'm also scared.
Honestly, give it a go, it is definitely scary the first time, but it gets so much easier from there!

Great video! Would recommend that both do the MCDU setup when doing shared cockpit. Seems like it does not sync for me, and it looked the same from your video (to have the same flight plan). Great video!

Why were you using an outdated A320N? Because most instruments seemed to be INOP
Its a freeware aircraft, and most of the systems are not INOP, its much better than most a320s
The flybywire is a bit less complicated, less to go wrong on a flight using the ‘your controls’ software
We’ll be flying other aircraft soon :-)
