I think what makes an impression on me with Regina is something beyond even empathy. There's simplicity to what she sings and complexity, but it's never forced. It doesn't feel like she's fighting for anything, she's just mirroring the human condition with stories that are so specifically detailed they are believable. She herself has a childish innocence and wonder towards the music she makes, but it's more than that, too. I guess it might not have to be her, but there's a quality in her (when her voice, her tone, her lyrics, and her personality all come together on stage) that I can't find in any other singer. "Dear Theodosia" feels like it's my own dad singing it to me, but it's something that's never happened, and I can't stand it. "Samson" is a singular moment of failure that's completely embraced by someone with no judgement at all. "Lady" feels like I'm looking out of my window and seeing the world for the first time. There's so much more to it, and these are such reductionist statements. All of Regina's songs are things I long for and instead experience separately, remember sweetly or bitterly. But they're so inextricable from what it means to be human at all that some part of me gets it, and I reconnect to it. No matter how artistically creative or philosophically profound a song, it's not really meaningful to me if it doesn't feel nostalgic. Regina makes me a kid again.
my favorite performances are her solo ones but they did a great job of fleshing this out with the orchestra. great version of the song. glad Regina is getting the serious recognition that she deserves as an artist. one of the most talented artists of our time, and nearly a perfect person in every way. just love her!
Grammies doesn't have the value you think. They are awards from the music INDUSTRY to the singers to make them sell millions. Not necessary talent or originality. Sometimes those things are present but sometimes they are not. Don't feel sad for Regina, she is amazingly amazing. (for me, she is the best, sure I want her to always do better, that why I always recommend her music). Anyway it's really sweet you wish the best for her, but don't worry, Grammies are not the best.
I used to listen to this when I was young...now I'm 19 and this song is still a magic. Regina ages like a fine wine; she gets better and better. She is truly amazing. No one can do it like her.
It was due to a recent interview of Regina Spektor which pressed upon me towards exploring what Regina has been up to. This performance immediately reminds me of how exceptional and beautiful Regina's compositions and singing voice are. While listening to this performance, I am covered in goosebumps! 🎶💕
01:46-01:52 mins. 02:17-02:29 mins. Gives me a goosebumps and chill at the same time. It enlightens me. It makes my eyes close for a while and me feel the "now" moment. Alone but not loved. I feel I am around that place for that few seconds; I feel alive without thinking anything. This version gives me another feeling for the song. Love you, Regina. From a fan of yours. :)
absolutely magical. i heard this song a loooong time ago and i can't believe she still sounds exactly the same. thank you for blessing us with your music. regina, you are something else 😍
Four years, four years and it still hurts, sometimes the pain is silent and I evade the memory, but it always comes back, today is one of those days where I can't avoid the memory, and I let my eyes free, that my soul releases the guilt .
She still looks amazing! This lady is iconic in my life. ❤ I remember hearing this when I was 16 and flat out crying. I remember NONE of my ppl liked it. Omg I still love her! Thank you Regina!
the song that made me reminisce my innocence, no much phone, no media gigs, just plain simple life, going to school meeting with friends, sharing cool screts about monsters lurking in the quarters, magnificent old trees outside our classroom windows billowing thru air, so much good times, so pure, and so fragile, but times had changed, no more pureness, but lessons, that we can't bring back the past anymore......| sorry my inner author is awakened again hahha
I've always loved the orchestration for this track. I like listening to the album version with headphones on so that the rich sound is right up on my ears.
Thank You internet revolution, for bringing me here , this singer deserve much more , she is pure talent carved out towards perfection ,no words can prove the artistic capabilities , congrats every who participated in this event all musician
Flawless performance! Regina almost reached the level of perfection in terms of interpretation on this day. She is really a musical diamond. She will never be obsolete.
This song brings me back to a very specific time in my life. Such a significant time I named my dog Samson.
Traz tanto significado que nos faz viajar no tempo.
Same... and I named my cat Samson! Haha
I feel you girl... me and Regina takes me back to when I was 19 in 2006 and my first love came and went and somehow her voice never gets old.
There's something about the song that I cant explain why ,as if it's taking me to zion
I named my ex Samson
There's something about this song and her voice that whenever I hear this play, I feel all sorts of emotion both happy and sad.
Literally every time I hear it I get choked up.
Bittersweet?
I cry everytime I hear this…
She ages like a fine wine. This song introduced me to an amazing artist. Please keep on making masterpieces.
My introduction to her was hearing "Us" at the beginning of 500 Days of Summer. I've loved her ever since. It just blew me away. Still does.
Filipino? I love Regina soooooo much!
I agree! She's just spectacular.
Even the way she moves her hands across the piano is a form of art.
I love her. She's one of a kind. So glad we are blessed with her music.
She was so immersed in her music... How come she's so underrated?!
I think what makes an impression on me with Regina is something beyond even empathy.

Regina makes me a kid again.
That's what I like about her too. The magic and the childlike wonder 😭
🖤🥹 Samson
Nailed it. She does not try to appear profound because she already is. Her style exudes playfulness, but offers so much insight at the same time.
your comment has such a beautiful and precise way of breaking down everything she makes you feel. Wow. beautiful writing, honestly
perfectly said
Terribly Underrated

2:22 She plays the piano so softly here... it makes me cry for some reason. Amazing performance!
People who can get the high note the first time in public without autotune deserve the Grammies. The end.
*waits patiently for Grammies*
But she s not that well known comparing to other big names. (Love to see her get Grammy )

Beautifully done.
Its amazing how she sings this same as in the record. And how it took you back to the time you played it on repeat in your ipod.
This is so true, I've seen her live... I was so surprised at how clean her voice is, beautiful experience.
If this doesn't find it's way to Spotify I'm suing someone.
So is it actually on Spotify? Been contemplating for a long while now if I should just get yt prem
I feel emotional every time i hear this song.
The most beautiful live ever... yes, she deserves an orchestra!!
The song brings me to tears every time.
same, tears dripping off my chin listening
This is Art, there's no other words to describe it.
Love you, Reg (and Sara Bareilles).😊

Not a dress lol
Seem like she's singing with all her heart...
Que música linda. Regina te amo.
I remember loving Soviet Kitsch, and then forgot all about her until this week. She has unblocked my tear ducts fully. What a gem.
One of the best. Sad and beautiful.
You feel happy, sad, together and broken all at the same time. Amazing how a song can do that.
We played this song on my dads funeral 10 years ago. Every time I hear it it brings me back to this day
Regina, you're amazing...
So beautiful it hurts ❤
I used to listen to this when I was young...now I'm 19 and this song is still a magic. Regina ages like a fine wine; she gets better and better. She is truly amazing. No one can do it like her.
Talking about good music, this is good music.

Regina is ridiculously good live. It's hard to believe. I think she might be one of the greats.
I've always loved the orchestration for this track. I like listening to the album version with headphones on so that the rich sound is right up on my ears.
I searched for this. No ads. Finally. Regina is super talented.

This song is the one through which i came to know about Regina and her other songs... But this one has a special spot in my heart ♥️
