Yep! The iPad Sidecar bit reminds me of when I visited a public library, and on one of the desks, I saw someone using their Mac mini just like that, though I think they were using Duet Display.
Get a 512GB if possible. After three years of swap-memory mayhem mine has been having some minor issues. If I could do it over I’d have gotten a 16/512 because I’m gonna use for a decade anyways.. I shoulda played it safe and upgraded. My issue was Best Buy only sold base in store and I needed one that day 😢
My dad still uses my late 2012 mini with quad i7 with 16gb ram and 1tb ssd. It’s not suited for anything you’d use a gaming pc or workstation for of course, but mild Lightroom editing ain’t no problem. It even flies through google chrome with 40 tabs open and still is capable of playing 4K RUclips videos. Apple is as anti-repair as it gets, but the longevity of their machines is unrivaled

I have an M1 mini with 16g ram at the office and an M1 Max MBP at the house. I can't tell the difference until I go to render with Davinci but even then, the M1 Mini is no slouch and at 1/3 the price.

Honestly I just fucking love the Mac mini, it’s incredible for its age, I got mine around early December 2020, so around a month after it came out, bought a monitor and the iMac Pro keyboard and mouse, because I was gonna wrap the Mac mini but I decided against it, but it’s been fantastic machine, never any faults, turns on everyday without fail, and it’s just such an awesome computer, honestly I’ll be sad to move on when (or if they ever do) apple releases the new one, probably 2023
Take a look at how much storage you have free. If you’re approaching capacity, try deleting as much unnecessary files as you can or moving them onto external storage. Also make sure that there are no programs hogging your RAM with the activity monitor app. And of course, check for anything like malware that could be dragging your computer down. There’s a good app called CleanMyMac that will help you do all of this in a few clicks - for transparency I’m an affiliate partner of theirs but it’s really good
