This is really cool. I have been collecting for the past few years since I was about 6. (15 now) I only have the top of my dresser and a shelf in my room for my village, but I would love to have a full table for it. This is amazing!
I think this is the most precious video I've ever seen☺ beautiful village Tom! I am watching this pretty late in the year, but its gorgeous even in July!🥰
Thanks Cary, I enjoyed this little project and it's nice to sit and relax with. I'll finish the train and make another short running vid. Merry Christmas mate :)
Lovely! We're building one in our basement also but I was trying to find a video on how to incorporate our train table into our den. You know, like a train-inspired decor without making it look too tacky. Can't seem to find anything on the Tube in that regard. It's always a train built going around the room (don't want that), or train decor for kids' bedrooms (don't want that either).
Very well done. This is just the right size in my opinion. I’ve seen some displays that are so huge and have so much going on that it begins to look cluttered and junky. Well done! Thanks for the great tips too!
Thank you :) I agree. I had an idea to add extra bits to the sides and make it bigger then decided to leave it as it was. It's not overpowering in the room and with the room lights down and all the village lit up it has a 'groto-esque' look that I really enjoy. Thanks again and you're more than welcome for the tips. Merry Christmas
Watching u put together ur Xmas village in August bcz I love Xmas ..Ur village building ability is absolutely amazing..I love all that u hve to create ur village n how u created ur tunnel for ur train n it’s portals, all the levels, ur snow all looks so magical. It was so smart on what u used coins n washers on the bottoms the pple & lamps from tipping over..again..amazing😀
Thank you so much, rose :) I have it all in storage right now and I'm looking forward to getting it out and building it up again in a couple of weeks. I'll also treat myself to a new building or two. All the best...Tom
Hi there, Mark. I'm glad you enjoyed it. I just use snow blanket from Ebay. I usually buy 10ft at a time. It's quite cheap. Best of luck with your Christmas village. All the best....Tom
Wow beautiful absolutely love it well done. How do you get the houses all linked up together for the lights to work. And also how do you hide the wires interlinking everything. I'm so impressed with your imagination 👍 x
Hi there. I'm sorry for the late reply. The whole village is on a baseboard that rests on timber battens so there is an inch of space between the board and the table that it sits on. I work out the position of each house, make a small hole and thread the wire through. I place the house and then connect the wire. All the wires run in the space under the board. I hope this is helpful. All the best....Tom
The village looks great. The closest I ever came to building a Christmas village is running a string of lights through the town on my model railroad layout. That said, the glowing creek is a bit disturbing, and makes me wonder, is it really responsible to have a Superfund site that close to where people live? (I'm kidding =)) Merry Christmas!
Haha...thanks mate...I thought i was about to get busted for the blue stuff...lol. I'll build the 'Chemical Waste Plant Christmas scene' for next year :)) All the best and Merry Christmas :) ..Tom
There are always 'haters' somewhere. The good thing as that RUclips sees a thumbs down the same as a thumbs up and promotes the video (apparently it's an emotional response) So I should really be thanking them....LOL :))
@@ChristmasEjyt That's great :) I'm a little late this year but I've bought some more bits..2 new buildings and some more lights. I'll probably make a short video. All the best to you and Merry Christmas :)
Hi. It's a hole cut in the base board. The base is supported on 2x1 battens to allow wiring etc. I put a small bundle of blue battery operated lights in a plastic tub and slid it under, then filled the bowl with iridescent snow flakes from the top.
The track is OO/HO and the loco is a Hornby OO chassis. The body of the train is hand made to a custom size to fit the village scale. All the best...Tom
The main snow is 'snow blanket' I also added a light dusting of silver glitter to make it sparkle. There are also some 'iridescent snow flakes' in the water feature and around the tracks
Well done, great video. It has been chosen as a "Village Video of the Week" selection for the week starting Friday, November 20, 2020. We've put a link to it on www.TheVillageCollector.com and it could be in the running for the 2020 Hall of Fame. Check it out on the "Village Videos" page of the website. Congratulations!

I have enjoyed this so much and I am thinking of finally making a village for this next Christmas. what did you use for the snow blanket?

What did u use under the bridge that looks like water
nice, did you use the original lighting package or did you substitute LED bulbs on 12V?
My mates is more a Christmas housing estate than a village🎅

"I wasn't planning on spending any money" 😂 It never works out that way when it comes to model trains does it? LOL
Hahaha...absolutely :)
What scale did you use for the train to go along with lemax stuff?

I'm in the process of setting it up right now. I had to come back to watch this video to remember how I did it :)
