I understand that this great talent who brought his listeners so much joy is now himself dead, killed by a fall at age 66. Yet he left us so many beautiful songs of our Americana that we can enjoy for years to come.
This one actually hurt a bit. I was just thinking of a song suggestion for him yesterday. I guess I'll have to hear him sing Annie Lisle in heaven someday. But what a talented man.
I just discovered this wonderful musician, listening so intently and marveling at his artful ability to bring to life these rare tales and the people who lived them 🍃🍃 I feel crushed!!! This has been a remarkable experience and I will never stop listening. I am soooo sorry for the family's loss 💙 I wish them all well
My mother was named after this song. She was born in 1932 and now having found it and seeing the words, it is such a sad song to name a baby after!! Thank you for the performance of it for the daughter of "Lilly Dale."
May 2024 was my first time hearing these songs on this site. I absolutely love them. So many of these songs I heard growing up and some we sang in school. I like listening regularly now. It's only been a few days now since hearing these songs here. I enjoy looking on RUclips for more songs that's why I subscribe to this channel.
I just cry when I hear this song...this video is even more powerful...gettin' out the tissues! I love Tom's voice....so soothing, smooth, and emotional!
I supose maybe she is not sad. But as she said your interpretations are very emotional. And a sort melancholy arise. Not sadness, at all. Melancholy is the happiness of being sad. (Victor Hugo)
The version of this song is just fantastic, and it is by far my favorite Tom Roush song - all the others being amazing, too, of course. Thank you very much, Mr. Roush, for re-uploading this song. Your albums and arrangements are simply lovely. Cheers!
I am crying, whan I am listening this song. Not becouse one girll death, but for it, so she is without love- love of boy. What is life without love? And for it God stop her life. I know it is the best way. Die young around all her family, than live alone. I know it. Becouse I am aloune.
My guess is, you never set out to make a lot of money out of what you do Tom. My late brother Eric was the same. Like him, you are a brilliant muso and master of multi- tracking and playing all your own instruments. If it wasn't for a bloke named Les Paul, (i can't spell his real name) none of this would have been possible. We did it because we loved it and because we could. There is nothing better than sitting back and listening to the final result of one of your creations and that is worth more than money. Some muso's would do well to heed that. Keep up the good word my friend. All the best from Australia. Edit:: Being the last man standing of a once proud musical family, i have sole rights over Eric's compositions all of which i have on USB's. I have yet to upload them to RUclips. I am sure you would like them Tom.
Thank you, David! Making money from CDs is a thing of the past. Live performances is where a musician makes money. It is unfortunate that my job as a 'greeter' at Walmart prevents many live performances! LOL
Thanks for the reply mate. For what it's worth, there's only 2 muso's on this entire internet that i've got any time for (and i'm in a lot of sites) and that's yourself and Tom T Hall. I only wish i could have had the opportunity to meet both of you. Cheers...
Thanks for that Tom. If and i mean if you're going to be at the Boondall Entertainment centre, that's not too far from me in Brisbane. I live in Bracken Ridge. You won't be hard to miss. Your profile pic looks like Harrison Ford. If it's okay with you, i'll send you a friend's request.
Tom Roush I would absolutely love to meet you sometime after the COVID pandemic is over. I'm an Illinois licensed attorney with a disability, but music is a second love for me and Civil War Era tunes and their origins are a favorite topic. Would you be willing?
I lived in Iowa for 30 years before I moved to North Carolina. Illinois was less than a mile from me across the Mississippi. Sure I would like to meet you. My email is: tom.roush@gmail.com
Tom Roush I'll email you post pandemic. Maybe we can get together to sing some of our favorites! I absolutely love your music! Stay safe in these challenging times!

Thank You!
Can't get this album on Apple Music now, why?
It's a distributor problem until July. You can still get the actual CD from tomroush.us/Blue%20and%20Grey.htm
