    Overpowered is relative. Both in the sense of "powerful compared to what" and in that it is subjective in the sense you are saying it. After all, there are people who would insist that something like McBeth or Hamlet have character too powerful, are too unrealistic in capabilities, or have scales and stakes too high. And there are people who love things like the xeelie sequence and Stellaris with the Gigastructures mod.

      Yeah, honestly, as long as a story or setting is enjoyable who cares how ridiculous it gets. I think DC and Marvel are both best examples of that, you have some of the most busted stuff on the high end and some of it makes for a great stories while some of it makes for pretty bad stories. All depends on how the author actually uses and contextualizes things in his setting or story.

Imagine you buy a house, after lets say 10 years, ants in that property are just too damn annoying so you decide to move.. That is how humanity won against xeelee.. we had assault rifles that uses big-bang as ammo and we were so low in that particular xeelee that we were just annoyance.. and after 'winning' humanity decided that its not good to make us known anymore so humanity went into pocket dimensions to hide.. Yeah, species that shoots origin of universe out of assault rifles were so low of a species that they decided to hide.. and yea, xeelee as a species didnt know about this war.. its like if anthill was agressive on "steve's" property we dont care.. and like video says, even xeelee as a species were little more than a another angry anthill against their betters.

    40k is nowhere near the most overpowered setting in all of fiction. Is it the most BRUTAL though? Perhaps. I'm willing to give 40k that. Marvel and DC alone have plenty of characters that can unironically destroy the entirety of 40k with a snap. It's not even a question.
    Superman did get "controlled" a couple of times but it's never permanent he ALWAYS breaks out of it. If a bunch or mortals like Grey Knights could resist the warp, Superman can as well. There is nothing chaos could offer to tempt Superman with. And no, don't bring in alternate versions of Superman. The main one, the OG, the prime Superman is not getting corrupted.

    • @HubiKoshi
      @HubiKoshi 3 месяца назад

      Definitely one of the most brutal. A mistake some people can make is trying to compare tech levels, saying that some universe would beat WH40k because they have better gear. But that's not where Imperium's strength lies, it lies in numbers. In its ability to drown the enemy in meat and metal. No one does the War of Attrition like the Imperium does.

    • @crimsonfricker
      @crimsonfricker 3 месяца назад +2

      @@HubiKoshi I agree. There are certain verses that technically have far superior tech than 40k. But the question is, with all their tech, could they realistically deal with ALL of 40k? Star Wars? No chance. Star Trek? No either. Yes, these verses have superior FTL travel but what matters is the FIREPOWER. The Death Stars (I'm counting both for the sake of the argument) are the strongest weapons we've seen in Star Wars. That's it. But compared to like the Xeelee Sequence where they have guns that shoot big bangs, 40k stands no chance. Dragonball has weird tech but you don't need those when there are individuals capable of blowing up stars, solar systems, galaxies on their own. And of course, DC and Marvel. You will never run out of characters in these verses that are capable of blowing up the entire 40k universe with a mere thought.

    Oh damn a Saiyan Daemon Prince would be rad and I can totally imagine it happening. Say King Vegeta or Bardock making a deal with him for power to free his people from Frieza's control and then he leads his race on a galactic slaughter fest.
    Two Sci-Fi settings I'd love to pit against WH40k is Empire from the Ashes by David Weber and the Bolo Series
    In the Empire from the Ashes the Default capital ship class used is a Battle Planetoid. The first one we meet is disguised as our Moon and by the end of the second book the good guys have like a fifty or a hundred of those with more to come in the future. A battle planetoid could knock Death Star out and not even slow down. The primary armaments are countless missile launchers where thermonuclear warheads are the mid-point of ship killing. Above that you've got gravitonic and anti-matter warheads. If you thought Tau were bad with throwing accurate missiles at you from half the system away wait till you get hit by a weaponized Moon that can tear a planet apart with ease.
    Bolo series meanwhile is primarily about the Bolos, gigantic, AI-driven tanks with the mentality of a chivalrous knight and enough firepower to blast spaceships out of orbit. Thick armor, forcefields and their main gun is a Hellbore cannon which is a fusion cannon firing blasts that are rated at megatons per second. They are very intelligent, tactical and fiercely loyal. I'd absolutely love to see them pitied against the Titans or Imperium's own super-heavy vehicles.

    I like how Pancreas asks what a Bloodthirster would do to Superman, when it's very easy to find stories where Superman needed to go find a magic user to help him fight a demon because he's that weak to magic. Superman is very strong, but if he's up against somebody like a Lord of Change, my money isn't on Superman.
    I mentioned the Tyranids vs the Viltrumites as a matchup that would crush the Viltrumites because the Tyranids modify themselves to beat whoever they're fighting against. If the Tyranids fought the Viltrumites, then after their first loss they'd evolve to be tougher, stronger, faster, and they'd create weapons powerful to cut through Viltrumites (they already exist in their own forms in both Invincible and 40k). Furthermore the Tyranids incorporate the DNA of their enemies to become stronger and since the Viltrumites are physical beings, it would not be hard for the Tyranids to begin copying their abilities. Even wiping out 100% of the attacking Tyranids would not help since they are a hive mind, so all of the other Tyranids would gain the knowledge of these new enemies and begin to learn how to counter them (or they'd get knowledge of their DNA if they managed to sufficiently harm or kill a Viltrumite and then study it). This also happens in 40k as well, where weird Tyranids have shown up that didn't previously exist because they were either born from the DNA of those they fought (Tyrant Guard for example came about from the Tyranids studying Space Marines) but since 40k doesn't have Viltrumites, and since Daemons are not physical beings, Tyranids have been unable to achieve the level of physical dominance that Viltrumites can achieve. This is also without talking about the really underhanded tactics the Tyranids use, if you want I can send you an old GW article thay goes over the stages of a Tyranid invasion. The gist of it is that you need to get rid of Tyranids as soon as they make landfall because if you don't, they begin to poison the entire environment. The atmosphere and food become unbreathable and poisonous to all life that isn't an Ork (and even then you can argue on it), and since Viltrumites do need to breathe, that would absolutely take them down, especially since there's also Tyranids that specialise in airborne poisons/pathogens.
    Yes Viltrumites can hold their breath for a very long time, but I think the fact that Tyranids are known both for poisoning the environment to render it uninhabitable, and for hiding deep underground for extended periods of time, would mean they could force Viltrumites to give up the planets they manage to land on.
    This is also before we get to Genestealers. Genestealer claws are known to cut through anything and everything, and they are also known for psychically hijacking other species. If a Genestealer sneaks up behind you (which they are exceptionally good at) and manages to get the back of your neck, you're done. You now work for and worship the Tyranids either willingly or unwillingly, and any kids you have will be infused with both your DNA and Tyranid DNA. Likewise they will also worship the Tyranids, and so will any kids they have, etc. This is another reason why Tyranids are exceptionally dangerous to Viltrumites, get a few genestealers into a Viltrumite city, and that whole world is done for.
    Same goes for Enslavers too, they do exactly what it sounds like they do, and they would immediately and permanently possess anyone who could threaten them in the setting. It's why the Imperium, if they are going to fight the Enslavers at all, needs to use massive numbers because it's harder for Enslavers to possess a legion as fast as they can take over single minds (though they are definitely capable of doing it).
    For the record this also goes for DBZ. I forgot about it on stream, but get Genestealers around the characters when they're sleeping, or Enslavers around them whenever, and that's it.
    Also Vegeta would 100% fall to Slaanesh.
    What's funny about his story about a Stellaris war crime is it's literally what the Orks were in the process of doing in the Beast Arises series. They probably weren't inspired by it (personally I think the Beast Arises is very poorly written), it's easy to come up with that stuff on your own, but I find it funny his example is something already done. Let's also not forget that one of 40k's common foods is "corpse starch" and everyone knows where that's from.
    Xelee Sequence and Gurenn Lagann are entirely fair. Regardless of how well/poorly they're written (Xelee sequence in particular varies wildly), they're more OP than everything but the Warp, which is 40k's win button since all outside laws cease to apply inside of the Warp.

      Oh that's just not fair. If you want to nitpick specific versions of superman that has one specific weakness then I'll nitpick the most powerful versions of superman that exists. You know what, not just superman but some of if not the most powerful beings in all of DC.
      The Endless. Dream, Death, Destiny, Despair, Desire, Delirium and Destruction. These 7 beings are true conceptual beings that you CANNOT defeat. Even if you kill one aspect of them, they would just return in a new form. They exist in the Sphere of the Gods. "The Sphere of the Gods is a metaphysical reality whose inhabitants exist on a higher planes of existence than the inhabitants of the realities that make up the Orrery of Worlds, but on a lower plane of existence than the denizens of the realm known as the Monitor Sphere." Khorne would be nothing without Destruction. Tzeentch would be nothing without Destiny. Nurgle would be nothing without Death. Slaanesh would be nothing without Desire. The Chaos Gods aren't even real gods but the Endless are above gods. When Lucifer Morningstar left creation to make his own multiverse, Death showed up there anyway.
      "The Endless spend most of their time fulfilling their functions as embodiments of natural forces. For example, Death leads the souls of the dead away from the realm of the living, while Dream oversees the realm of dreams and imagination ("The Dreaming") and regulates dreams and inspiration." So without the Endless, there is nothing.
      Milkman Man, a version of Superman that exists within Retconn Corp. Retconn is the organization responsible for entertaining the Eonymous. If they fail, the Eonymous would destroy all of creation. "The primary consumers of this entertainment was the Eonymous, universe-destroying gods who could only be distracted with entertainment, never stopped." Retconn also has a device called "The Ultimate Fail-safe." A device that can wipe out the entire Overvoid. "The Overvoid is a massive cosmic consciousness above the Monitor Sphere and the Multiverse. It is an infinite, timeless white void within which the Omniverse floats, also known as Monitor-Mind."
      Don't even get me started on the Doom Patrol. The team that defeated Milkman Man and Retconn Corp.
      Cosmic Armor Superman has actual plot manipulation. CAS turns the Lord of Change into the Lord of Cringe. He defeated Mandrakk, a being with the power to unmake all of existence. Mandrakk is a corrupted Monitor. "The Monitors are a multiversal race charged with the protection of the Multiverse." CAS also resides in the Monitor Sphere "The Monitor Sphere is an archetypal realm and fundamental world where everything is more profound and absolute and was described as a realm of nothingness beyond the Multiverse, the Sphere of the Gods and even the Comic Book Limbo."
      "Comic Book Limbo is a place where obscure and unused comic characters reside when they are not in print. The residents realize they are fictional characters but most want nothing more than to be "written back" into the comics. If a character is lucky enough to escape Limbo by being written into a book, they forget their time in Limbo and that they are fictional. Animal Man once encountered this realm. Superman and his allies entered this realm during the Final Crisis. The Outsiders also visited it, searching for the lost members of Planetary."
      So yeah. There is no being in 40k that is powerful enough to defeat these characters who exist in a dimension so far above reality that they even see DC as fiction. The Chaos Gods has as much chance in corrupting anyone I've listed as they have in corrupting anyone in the real world. Which is ZERO. To us, Warhammer 40k is fiction. We cannot be touched by Chaos. Same goes for these characters.
