I rejoiced when i saw this video and i'm very happy for all Opoku Ware alumni and that it is celebrating its 70 years. A school established on a stool line of Chieftaincy and on a firm christian background. Though their predecessors of whom many were Traditional chiefs died and other members of staff such as A.Kwabena Adjei died, the successors danced in 1972 to enstool the glorious school as one of the best in Ashanti region. Some members saw their own past mistakes as planned by themselves years ago but the bitter end closed their own opportunities. Notwithstanding, the then akwamuhene ( chief of Asafo) who also helped the great school, though has died made a great impact to push the school forward in order to stop those envious and jealous of such prestigious school from plotting their usual lies. The Alumni don't wait for any future hope because they themselves refused any offer given to them with the belief that they can achieve certain things with their elders. The school caught itself in all that great things people saw and have seen and it is why many have chosen to marry this alma mater of theirs.
There are so many schools out there possibly celebrating their anniversary at any given time. And for the president of the country to be a part of such an event, that's huge. It is telling of what kind of a school it is. Congrats
I love your videos. A pity I discovered them only recently. I saw that you moved to Kumasi, Ghana with your family after having lived in Germany and The UK for decades. I am also an Akatakyie AX batch, so your junior. Back in the day, I was part of the Brillant Science and Maths Quiz Team. I visited Ghana just 2 months ago with my family from Germany and would have loved to have my daughter (11 yrs) meet yours. Your daughters seem so settled in Ghana including school life. Keep posting the heart-warming videos. I'll reach out the next time we are in Gh - if you are still there 🙂
In fact the school lacks beautification especially around the assembly hall. It could have been better with trees and flowers in front and around the assembly hall.
Thank you, Daniel! The school has a green club and they are doing a lot of tree planting. I hope some tree planting is planned, but I will find out more.
