I tasted the chocolate-covered almonds from Malagos recently and they were absolute perfection. Not too sweet with a beautiful bitterness from their cocoa-powder dustings. I almost consumed the whole tin in one sitting. Would definitely choose it over the super sweet chocolates from abroad. I’ve seen Theo and Filo around so I might give it a try soon.
"Rob Crisostomo , owner: Tigre Y Oliva".? I wonder if he is a part owner of the said brand. If I am not mistaken "Tigre Y Oliva" was founded by Simone Mastrota, an Italian chocolatier who was based in California, but now living (not so sure if they still live there though) in La Union. Mastrota is married to a Filipina and they have two daughters named "Tiger Lily" and "Olivia". The chocolate brand, "Tigre Y Oliva" is named after their daughters.

The crisp, foggy mornings and aroma of herbs on the way, passing a waterfall for a break then onto her plantation. We would spend the weekend there & she would show us how they're harvested, dried and brought back to town to be grounded. She would only go as far as making "sikwate" and of course her arabica coffee which I learnt to drink to the despair of my Mum. Philippines had been one of the coffee & cacao producers worldwide before until instant coffees came around. Now I'm living and working here in Europe and a lover of coffee and chocolate only brings back memories of my funny and great Lola Auring...i love and miss you 'La xxx

The Philippines seem very similar to Mexico and other Latin countries due to their Spanish colonisers but have their own flare Any champorado lovers I also realise Mexican champurrado and filo champorado sounds the same
The governors and officials of the Philippines under the Spanish Empire were MEXICANS, from 1565 to 1815, or for 250 years of the Manila-Acapulco (Mexico) Galleon Trades. Both Mexico and Philippines were part of the NEW SPAIN colonies of Spain. Many products from the Philippines were brought to Mexico (and the Caribbean) and vice versa, before proceeding to Spain (and Europe). A certain species of tobacco came from Cuba, and planted in the Philippines, creating tobacco plantations in the islands.

Philippines should expand farming cacao because the weather is very compatible to grow cacao trees. I once went to Samar and I've seen people eating a trufle like chocolate and cacao drinks and I was shocked how good it is. It's very high quality and the people just consume it in an ordinary day, I was so envious we don't have that in Manila
Last Christmas, i bought my mom a chocolate fountain for her cacao chocolate specialty 😁
Just visited the Philippines for the first time last week, so happy I bring home some Theo & Philo, and Risa chocolates. The flavors reminded me of my travels in the Philippines, and wanted to support the industry :)
As long as the government will support our local farmers like how Korea support theirs, they will work hard to be on top.
As a chocolate lover. This makes me feel more than proud and contented hearing news about our own chocolate production. I hope to find it soon.🥰🥰🥰 Chocolate and mangoes together would be the greatest. Thanks for this content.
*Davao be like: from Durian to Chocolate 🤔*
Not only durian and chocolate but also banana, pineapple and papaya, rambutan,mAngosteen more export around the world
@@yvonnieseguis1988 that would be amazing .. God Bless our country 🙏

The only chocolate museum in the Philippines found at Malagos farm in Davao City 😁
This is something I would love to get behind 100%! Great documentary CNN! Kudos to this industry that not just promotes the chocolate companies but also take care of the welfare of the farmers! 💯
Wooow I'm so inspired the way how you all work it hard....the fruit of your labor is highly appreciated because you guys work with all your heart....GOD bless your business.
Philippines has a lot of potential more than we thought. Just handle it with care and wisely
I’ve been working in the chocolate industry in Dubai for 15 years. AURO CHOCOLATE... BEKE NEMEN 🙏
Wow. For the entire video, I got goosebumps; from the beginning to the end! I'm truly inspired with these young business owners. Gusto ko silang tularan! Pero pano? How to start? When?
Cacao🤤 we used to have cacao in the back yard and now I'm craving 🤤
Wow I'm proud to this product from the Philippines. thank you very much cacao farmers.
In our land in mindanao or evrrywhere there is a cacao between the cofe beans plants. We just throwing the seed after we eat but some we bring it bck to our house and make it powder to be use as a coffee drink sometimes .. But now i dont know if there is a cacao in our place
yow cheng asa diay ka sa Mindanao? chocolate lover pud ba ka? 😁
Wow! I think its time na tangkilikin ang sariling atin. Pricey siguro pero kung d nmn pahuhuli sa lasa ng mga imported brands . Abay support na tayo sa pinoy chocolate . Nkatulong pa sa farmers natin.
and i always thought chocolate hills were actually made of chocolate.
😂😂😂
WhatHAHAHAHAHAHA
lol
This is one industry that we should support. If ever i see this on our local groceries I would buy it.
These product didn't sale in the market in my region.
Same same bro
Same 😔
Same.
Same
This cuz they aren't known by Filipinos
We only know diary milk and other imported ones....
Our research in 11th grade was about the Philippines Cacao Industry and we interviewed cacao farmers from our province. It was such an inspiring study and we visited a lot of farms. I hope this industry grows. I really want to study agriculture but circumstances had lead me to another course but I still want to shift to agricultural and biosystems engineering i hope i could transfer next school year.
Ahh, i knew Auro would be in this. But damn, can’t find them anywhere, bc they’re located only in specific high-end shops, or in the coffee and tea leaf, which isn’t found in a number of provinces in the country, plus the café only has specific types being sold. Ugh
something to be proud of...it is good to hear that these local products is getting known not only nationwide but internationally as well..
Packaging are very attractive to the consumer,I suggest you can create a design that represents are country like using baybayin😍💜
Such great news! Thanks CNN !;) I have been a follower of Malagos Chocolate 5 years ago and I could only buy them in Mindanao but to know how big they are now is just amazing. Growing up loving chocolate and knowing that this industry is getting very promising makes me happy. More power to all the Philippine Cacao growers and manufacturers.
I’ve seen Theo and Filo around so I might give it a try soon.
did you get to try Theo and Philo? love their 65% dark choc w calamansi
Tried them. Love it ❤️❤️❤️
the legend of the Chocolate Hills derived from Bohol. cacao made tablia, we drink ot everyday as sikwate.
Perfect for Valentine's. Go Philippines!
The chocolate brand, "Tigre Y Oliva" is named after their daughters.
baka binili niya ung name ng tigre y oliva
Wow 😲😀
negosyo kz un sir cla prin my ari nyan iba lng pinadalang name pra hindi halata
Whoah!
Kasi po. Kapg foreign investor ka, ang hatian kasi is 60-40. 60% Filipino own, 40% for the foreign.
I've always loved bringing Kablon chocolates from Mindanao to Visayas. It's really joyful to share a hidden gem from my hometown.
sana lang wag pasukan ng mga foreigner para mga tunay na PINOY ang makinabang
Tough luck with the current president na maka China. Siguradong bibilhin agad yan ng isang Chinese corporation like usual.
sallie cunan, yes should be true Pilipino product ,go go Pinoy to prgress, mga Pinoy dapat tangkilikin Mga Gawang Pinoy 😊🙏🏻🌈☘️ ! !

Childhood: climbing up cacao trees and eat it
I'm thankful that this video came out. I realize that I'm lucky that I came to visit one of the most prestigious chocolate store of the Philippines in Davao. 🥰🍫
Nabasa ko
" Philippine Presents : The Rise of Palpatine Chocolate"
Daming Star Wars napapanood ko kasi
I'm so happy that we have local quality chocolates. I love chocolate.
I'm a Filipino but I haven't eaten nor heard this. :(((
Same here
This is really great to watch. Very good documentary.
Irony that we produced much of these products yet very expensive when it’s out jn our market
The cost of producing quality products.
if there are government subsidies to support our local producers, price would go down fast.
@@jameskevinavena2569 Subsidies are a great idea but I don't think that the coconut, sugar and tobacco farmers did not develop their products even with government subsidies.
The cacao farmers are better off selling their products to the small chocolate producers.
I hope the government will continuously and increase support for these products, farms and the farmers. Our country has one of the highest potential and we should take advantage to produce this high value crops. I have tasted some of the Philippine brands mentioned and they taste so good!
Philippines chocolates but I couldn't find any of them in the market. Are they exclusive to luxury lifestyle filipino and for export? Why can't we taste our own local chocolate 🙁
I'm from Davao so I find them easily. But they're also in Kultura. You can check they're website for a retail store near your area.
Im currently located in cebu wala din mahanap maybe i need to gala more 😂

I remember my Lola and her workers when I was 5 yrs old. We would walk up her cacao & coffee plantation strip in a mountain in Mindanao.
Malagos ❤️
Right!
Theo & Philo's Green Mango Chocolate is actually my favorite from the flavors i've tried in that brand. So glad to find more Philippine made chocolate though. I'll be on the lookout for these. ☺
Sana magbenta kayo sa lazada at shoppee para makabili ako
You can purchase at SM Kultura stores nationwide.
You can buy auro chocolates at shopee..

Well said Atty. Roque! Thank you for standing firm on behalf of the Phil. Constitution and it’s existing Law
The Philippines seem very similar to Mexico and other Latin countries due to their Spanish colonisers but have their own flare
Any champorado lovers
I also realise Mexican champurrado and filo champorado sounds the same
Yeah because of the gallon trade :D
The governors and officials of the Philippines under the Spanish Empire were MEXICANS, from 1565 to 1815, or for 250 years of the Manila-Acapulco (Mexico) Galleon Trades. Both Mexico and Philippines were part of the NEW SPAIN colonies of Spain. Many products from the Philippines were brought to Mexico (and the Caribbean) and vice versa, before proceeding to Spain (and Europe). A certain species of tobacco came from Cuba, and planted in the Philippines, creating tobacco plantations in the islands.
Wow, very impressive. I can't wait to try some chocolate from the Philippines! Congratulations on all the awards!
Mas Mahal pa sa Hershey's
It's about time...Philippine cacao are world class.I used to buy local dark chocolate tablea at Legaspi Sunday Market in Makati. It's sold by the stall of the late former Senator & Phil. UN Ambassador Leticia Shahani. It was made by their friend from Davao. It's the best dark chocolate tablea I've ever tasted. We should manufacture and commercially produce Phil. brand chocolate bars just like Hershey's. Investors needed. This sector should be given more support as this thriving industry can promote agricultural farmers and entrepreneurs.
