Favourite snacks on a walk - Sausage rolls and scotch eggs
What if the Scotch Egg gets warm in your bag. I am not a fan of boiled eggs, even though I look like one.

Beautiful sunset dude! My walking snack of choice? Boiled sweets- rhubarb and custard ideally. I am very partial to a strawberry laces though. Gutted I missed out on the monk magnet.

Snacking while hiking. Flapjack (no nuts). Recently I've found buying multipack fredo bars means nice wee choc treats. More recently I've had some dried beef strips.
I have never liked Fredos. I don't know why. Snickers is my preferred chocolate bar option.

Favourite snack bar Snickers . Always have one somewhere in my rucksack.
I just wish they would make them the same size as they used to be. The DUO ones are too big and the normal ones are too small. Terrible business.

i am swiss and live in germany but i had a daughter - sadly she passed away over ten years ago - who lived in london. and we went together over 25 years ago to rochester and i went alone one day to canterbury. i do not like churches because of the power they demonstrate but admire the ingenieurs and the masons and woodworkers and canterbury - built by anselm - is breathtaking. in royal tunbridge well i had a course with peter goldmann in spiritual psychotherapy over thirty years ago. good memories of all these places and looking forward to this video. i have seen a few with you and your make good videos. greeings and happy new year from stralsund on the eastern sea

I am 100% down with the strawberry laces. But I still rely on the locally purchased sausage roll preferable fresh from the local bakery. Amazing. (signed Cool Dude #118)
I agree with you on fresh sausage rolls. I like to call them meatlogs.
I'm similar to Carlos as my preferred snack is dried mango (or the odd KitKat ) The pub at the end looked a lovely place to spend a night.
Maybe you should become best friends with Carlos, then he will know what copying feels like. Meanwhile the pub was great, you stay the night in one of these chalets out the back. There are about 50 of them and they go on forever and every one looks the same.

I'll give you 4 for the 4 places I was off by. Considering I pulled that number practically out of my a*s, I was pretty impressed.
My friend briefly lived in Eccles whilst at University. On my first train ride over there a grinning, bearded man in aviators boarded when we stopped in the nearby town. He then sat down with an old fashioned cassette player and proceeded to loudly play the entirety of the dialogue from the film Chitty Chitty Bang Bang whilst continually laughing and reciting every word (which he’d obviously learnt off by heart.)
Everyone left the carriage. It was utterly terrifying (and quite impressive.)

I’ve got an uneaten pack of those Tesco strawberry laces too, but my fave snack are Jelly Babies. I buy a big packet which I keep sealed with a food bag clip from Ikea 👍 plus I also carry Bel Vita blueberry breakfast bars too. Stay cool and thanks for another great video

Good to see you doing a walk local(ish) to me. I wasn't aware of this route through to Ramsgate so may have to check that out at some point. My favourite snacks are Hula Hoops (ready salted), Fry's Turkish Delight and a mid-walk pint of cold cider at a pleasant hostelry, and maybe another at the end🍺🍺
It must be about twenty years since I had a Fry's Turkish Delight, I must try one again. I still remember the 80's advert.

Oh god Rochester ! my teenage awakening years. So much drugs and partying all around the castle and cathedral. Kings Head hotel was my home (parents owned the pub).

I watched this video on my TV for a change instead of my phone or iPad & the picture quality was way better than I expected it to be on a big screen. Awesome

Yes a sun emoji is a great idea cool dude. This was filmed with a GoPro, I am pretty impressed so far, but it is a bit glitchy. I was always film in 4K and I am surprised how good it looks on the TV.
That must take up a lot of storage space.

Hi Marek, great video. If Carlos was a real friend he would be in the top 500 cool dudes surely? 😁 A special Carlos origin story for RUclips members perhaps?! I’ve just checked and that car is taxed until Oct 22 and has a valid MOT until next Feb so I can only assume it was buried very recently 🤔
You are right about Carlos taking far too long to join the club. Although I don’t know about an origins story. It sounds like a Marvel spin off and I hate superhero films.
I can confirm that Carlos is working with Taika Waititi on an origin story exclusively for RUclips.

I also laughed when you had a pub lunch and didn't have a burger. That meal looked lovely so that's a shame that it was a disappointment. A load of gravy probably would have sorted it out.Or maybe you should have just had a burger. 😂

Just want to let you know. But I am subscribed and the bell notification is on, however, I have received nothing for the last few months. It was only because I thought I would check to make sure your channel was still going and all is good for you, that I have discovered so many videos I have not seen. Not sure if anyone else had the same issue.

Marek, our diets are so similar, though I cant get enough foam shrimps and bananas at the mo...
My brother got sent some sweets as a present, and he had some foam shrimps in there. They were more delicious than I ever remembered.
I gave up sugar, but I used be able to eat a whole bag of Haribo Strawberry Sticks in one sitting and probably start on a second bag later that day if the mood struck me. I feel we are kindred spirits strawberry laces wise.
This is that Keto diet thing. I don't know if I could walk ten miles without strawberry laces now.

Hi Marek, since you asked someone to explain the car bumper i thought I'd oblige. I reg checked it and it has a current tax and MOT, so you could have taken it onto the road legally. Also, a recent MOT report said that the only issue with the car was a worn tyre. Having seen the video footage I'd have to disagree. I'd say the fact that the whole bit of the car behind the front bumper is missing is probably a bigger problem, but I'm not a qualified mechanic.

This is basically a walk through my back yard and hope you enjoyed it. I can confirm the vines are fairly new as the farm was purchased a few years back and then all that stuff was put up. Favourite walking snack, nakd bars. Taste nice, compact and good calorie content.

@@cdwc they are not ready yet. No grape has come from them so far but I suspect they will be this or next year. The friars is a great place. Went to a catholic school nearby so spent a few days there each year and always found quality merch. Look forward to the Chilham to canterbury leg. I recommended that during lock down so glad you’ve managed to get there. Hope you saw some carp in the lakes.
I did like this route especially as you both passed some of the places I walked on the Winchester to Canterbury Pilgrimage last year, nice one!

I once met up with a mate only to find we had both bought the same coat for winter from Debenhams 😐 I know what you mean about the bridge thing too, although I've found walking or cycling over it is normally an anticlimax * shrug *
I think it is the grass is greener on the other side thing. I was watching someone on a paddle board out at sea, and for a second I was envious. Then I realised they were probably envious of me sitting on a bench eating sandwiches in the sun, while they tried not to fall over in the cold water.
Nice one! This walk seems to run parallel to the Pilgrims Way that I’ve partially completed and ended in Canterbury. Saw a pub or two that I recognised. Can’t wait to see Day 2.

Yes it is a postcard of Girl with a Kitten that I bought from the Tate. I fell in love with it after painting it on my masterpiece series. Freud was a genius.
The abandoned car bumper put me in mind of the film Tremors 😂 I saw my first youtuber in the wild this week! I came up over ladyside pike ridge and accidentally interrupted them doing some running away from camera shots. Slightly ruined their extreme hike vibe by lumbering ever closer into shot, followed by a tiny chihuahua in a purple harness. I don't think we'll make the edit👍
Your youtube bombing sounds better than the walking away footage. I always feel a certain amount of self loathing when I stroll back to pick up my camera.

Maybe I will do the Spanish Camino one day. I don't like the idea of sharing dormitories with strangers though.
My Spanish girlfriend did the Camino de Santiago back in her student days. She said it is a very worthwhile experience. Tiring but fulfilling.

Hello cool dude. In answer to your questions. 1. Yes, that was the ghost of Gundulf. 2. Carlos is not religious, but he likes churches so yes. 3. I have to order the T-shirts in batches of 50 to make any profit, so I will probably just stick to the organic green ones and the 'Stay Cool' ones which should be coming soon for now.
2. Carlos does like old churches. He's not religious but enjoys the historical connections to be found on these pilgrim routes.

Any sort of travel is enhanced by blackcurrant and licorice sweets.

My snacks are cheese and pickle sandwiches, frazzles, pistachios.

I had the captions on when I first started watching this video and saw that too - had me in stitches, lol
I too went on a journey with this vid although my self-discoveries don't reflect well on me: I let out an audible gasp of excitement at the Waitrose distribution centre, and then chose shirt D which looks like something you'd see on a kids TV presenter from the 90's . Snack-wise I like apples and crisps. I don't allow myself to buy strawberry laces anymore because I can easily eat a whole packet in one sitting, squashing several laces at a time into a ball before shoving it into my fat mouth, and that's not the person I want to be.
I am that person who squishes the whole packet of strawberry laves into a massive ball and consumes it one go like a big fat sugar pig. It is the happiest moment of the entire day, then I feel sad and disgusted with myself. Strawberry laces are three packs for a pound in Tescos.

Hi Marek, what a great video and walk. I used to live in Maidstone and have done all of that walk in part many times. We now live in Hythe on the coast of Kent. We do a great walk to Canterbury from here a few times a year. If every you want to come down here and do a couple of walks, I would happily put you up for a few days. If you wanted company, I would also love to join you on the walks. Open invitation, and as I am self-employed, anytime is good for me. Keep up the good work.
