I have the Lanshan Pro 2. Annoying that I need to seam seal - suppose I've taught myself something new - and major condensation issues. Also missing 2 pegs. Not a great start, but I'd love to have it out on falling heavy rain.

@@SimonOutdoors i typically use a hammock, but i've moved to a new city where the mountains are FAR away and plains camping is now the way to go. i was eyeballing this tent but was unsure because most i've tested were just too short. i'm 6'3" and so seeing this review sealed the deal for me. i bought the tent. and it's fantastic. i'm largely a solo camper, so this is perfect for me and my gear. the only other tent i've used and enjoyed was the Naturehike Mongar 2. it fit nicely as well. big guys need big gear. :D

That looks like a MSR Hubba!!
As someone who’s also done some multiday thru hiking in the UK - I think I prefer inner pitch first. (1) You are bound to have some condensation in the uk and an inner pitch first is detached from the outer - so you can pack them seperately without the hassle of detachment and reatachment. Its a bit of a hassle to detach the hilleberg akto inner and then reattach (2) An outer pitch first tends to have a more flappy inner tent as it is suspended from the outer - so is more noisy in wind. (3) Erecting in the rain can be a bit of an issue with inner first pitch, but shouldn’t take long to do and you can always wait a bit until any heavy rain passes if there is suitable shelter nearby. (4) Outer pitch first if ideal for one night camps - it doesn’t matter if you pack the whole tent wet as you can dry off later at home.

Great video Si looked like a great little tent that. I hate seeing the fire scars too, cant see why people have to have them directly on the ground if they must have one. If they dont know how to make a fire properly then they shouldn't do one.
Do love free standing tents, not just for being able to move its location but to shake stuff off in the morning too. With my Soulo if its been hammering down in the night hold the poles in the morning and shake the rain off before I put it away. Jobs a good'n and no wet tent haha.
That is one bright outer but loads of room inside 👌🏻
