It’s possible that it still heads that direction in the story. Especially if it’s because Cyrax leaves the Lin Kuei. Imagine if they lose Bi Han to Noob Saibot and Sektor takes over the Lin Kuei and decides the suits aren’t enough after losing to Cyrax.
