I have not had the opportunity to Keg my beer. After watching this video I am confident that I can do it! Having just bottled 5 gallons of beer I am anxious now to find a Corny Keg and make a new batch thank you for the great video.
I have just purchased my first kegs going from bottles to keg and enjoyed your presentation it was explicit and clear .Thank you. Cheers from down under
I love that you're still rocking the bucket fermentor despite being knee deep in homebrewing. My buddies harass me for not switching to carboys but I still haven't been convinced that it makes any considerable difference on the outcome of your beer.
I loved the way you broke it down to the audience. Very good hands on approach to cleaning the kegs. I used this when I bought three corny kegs and still seek this video out when in doubt. Wonderful presentation!
Thank you very much for a complete review of what goes into maintaining and cleaning a beer keg. Appreciate your thoroughness and clear instructions. Best regards from upstate New York, USA
Just ordered my first keg as moving from bottles and plastic pressure barrels. Been looking at loads of videos and this is the best I’ve seen. Thanks man! 👍
Thanks for posting this - as with all your videos, this is very informative and easy to understand. I've just bought two kegs today so this has been really helpful. I've now managed to build a working kegerator, bar in my shed and now fully kegged system - all thanks to your videos. Cheers my friend :-)
Thanks! I bought the large tub in a garden supply store. It's a flower container without holes in the bottom. Very handy to sanitize large equipment! Cheers
Thank you for sharing this video. I found it incredibly useful as I am about to purchase my first corny keg, and I feel like this was the best possible video on cleaning and sanitizing that I could have asked for.
I saw the foam and said to myself "don't fear the foam". As I thought that, an ad came on. The first words I heard after the ad were "never fear the foam" :D
this is the video that got me to subscribe. the others are just cream(y head) on top. solid clean video and helped a noob so much back when i first got into kegging
Thanks for the great video. It's over 3 years old but the info is just as helpful! Love how sanitary you were and the trick where you used the low CO2 was genius!
Good show. However, I do have a couple of suggestions to promote a little more sanitary procedure. 1. Use sanitized Nitrile or similar gloves when handling any sanitized part that will touch the beer. 2. When handling the auto-siphon and transfer tube only handle by areas that will not touch the beer. Hands are difficult to sanitize due to their texture and the fact that they are frequently touching unsanitized surfaces. Hands easily transfer bacteria to any surface touched by them. So we should avoid touching the Auto-siphon tube and the portion of the transfer line that will be in the keg.
I thought your video was very informative. I am just starting to keg, and I liked how you had a dual use for the starsan in the keg, and used it for sanitizing the other items.
You are correct, that's even better... Didn't thought about leaking gas problems after you comment this. Till today ( so even this keg ) I don't have problems with a good seal or something like that. I am using oxyclean to, this time it wasn't necessarily for a couple of reasons. Next time I will mention that using oxyclean while cleaning the keg is even more better. Thanks for your comment and cheers my friend!
Thank you so much for your instructive video on kegging homebrew. That beer in your hand looked sooo good! Steve of Boise, ID. (I am probably signed in with my daughters log-in)
I save it a couple of weeks but I am sure it can be stored for a much longer time. This is a good question and everybody will give you other advice. Please feel free to search a bit around! I did a PH test on a cloudy Starsan solution, still PH 1 and it was about 3 months old ( only for testing, didn't use it for sterilization ) and I guess it still will do it's job right. On the other hand, with one bottle of Starsan you can make so many spray bottles that I regularly dump it. Just in case..
You are right, it's also possible to use oxiclean! When I have a extremely dirty keg I will use that to. I used this keg for some apple cider and it wasn't dirty at all. Thanks for watching man! Cheers 17 :-)
I do this before putting it away but i use oxyclean free, then rinse a lot, then put it back together. on kegging day i do everything you do except brushing and taking appart the valves, as i cleaned them before putting it away, this way when you are kegging and you take appart the keg again then you could end up with leaks when the beer is already in the keg. just a suggestion, otherwise you are very thorough Glenn which is good!
Awesome I would like to say how much I love beer and the metric system....I also kept watching because I love Heineken which is Dutch as this guy is too so he must be good at brewing beer. :)
In my opinion is clean and store it the best way. I am sanitizing my equipment right before I am using it, the idea of sanitizing it right after cleaning and pressurize the keg will work but it's not the usual way that I know. Affect the inside of the keg? Not with Starsan but there are a lot of chemicals doing right what you suggest. Just read the manual of your sanitizer :-) Cheers and thanks for the comment!
Hi, Thanks so much for the video. At the end you talk about a trick to carbonating the keg quickly. Can you send a link to that video as I can't find it.
Hi, thanks for the comment! Unfortunately I don't have a video about that particular question. I bet there a a lot of it on RUclips tough. I can check some old footage I didn't upload. I l t you know if I found something. Cheers 🍻
Hi Very practical methods. I love that white trough that you use to soak long items. What is this normally used for? Any hints on where I can find one?
John Wendt it's a container for plants. Mostly used in the garden on a fence. Maybe you can find it in a garden store. I don't know it's food save tough! Cheers
homebeerbrewery Thanks for getting back to me. But before you replied I picked up a "30 inch wallpaper prep tray". It was less than $3 and looks like it will work great. Thanks for that idea of using a trough container to soak/rinse long items. This was always a problem using just buckets.
Very helpful video. So you dont need to rinse the sanitizer solution out of the keg before filling it or rinsing it from the lines before using them? Also, when carbonating the beer, is there a method or "rule of thumb" as to how much pressure and for how long? Thanks
Great tutorial. Have moved onto kegs from the tiresome bottles leaving out the long wait to taste! I've purchased 2 of those auto-siphons and both times they generated loads of oxygen bubbles. Is there ant decent brands to look out for?
It depends, usually I put 3 Bar on it for 12 to 24 hours and let is sit in the fridge. Force carbonation can be done much faster, like shaking the keg on 3 Bar for about 15 minutes. I like my beer very carbonated so maybe I am pressurizing it to much, just experiment with it! Cheers
Great Video, thank you! I also do rinse all my equipment with clear water, I wouldn't wanna have that much of any sanitizer in my beer, even if it says that it is fine.
Keep in mind that once you rinse your equipment with tap water it is no longer completely sanitary. Liquid lines of all types (including water) contain all sorts or critters. Chances are you'll be fine, but you stand the chance of contaminating your beer. StarSan and Iodine based cleaners are fine below listed thresholds- even better if you let them dry thoroughly.
hi.. very informative, thanks.. question: if you're cleaning a keg and not planning to use for a while, whats the best way to store it? i.e. clean, sanitize and then seal it and leave it? im wondering is there any point in pressurizing it, and is there any danger in liquid left inside such that it might corrode or affect the inside? cheers...
Thanks, great information. Question: After you filled with the beer sealed the lid on the keg, how long does it normally take to get the keg pressurised prior to forced carbonation or storage and at what Kpi? It might have been covered so I may have missed it..
Great video - 2 questions: 1) What is the white through container? Where can I pick one up. I found a wallpaper trough but it's too small... 2) What kind of lubricant is that you're using? Thanks.
Hi, Nice and very informative video! I've got a question-Is it really nessessary to remove and sanitize the in/out valvess? I believe the out-valve (where the beer comes out) has already been sanitized when you force the sanitizer out of the keg? Thanks!!
Beginning research on kegging, this was a great, concise, informative video. You mentioned you'll force carbonate at around 30 psi, for a day or two. What psi do you use for normal serving of the beer?
I have not had the opportunity to Keg my beer. After watching this video I am confident that I can do it! Having just bottled 5 gallons of beer I am anxious now to find a Corny Keg and make a new batch thank you for the great video.
10 years later and still the best easiest video to help me :)

This was one of the best "hands-on" video lessons I've seen yet on kegging. Cheers!
Just ordered my first keg as moving from bottles and plastic pressure barrels. Been looking at loads of videos and this is the best I’ve seen. Thanks man! 👍
Thank you for the kind comment! Cheers
Just purchased a second hand keg kit, this video is very well presented and hopefully get me going with my first batch of home brew, Thank you!
just referring to your cleaning process. cleaning 6 kegs all newly acquired by myself. very excited to keg my first brew.
Kegging is awesome😎 enjoy kegging the first batch! Cheers 🍻
Kegging my first 5 gal batch of Double IPA. All your information is very helpful. Thanks. 🙏🏼
Thank you for your comment. ☺️

Finally a thorough video
Thank you for this video its an eye opener on sanitizing and taking the O2 out of the keg i didn't even think to do that
Brandon Hyman You are welcome. Cheers
This video was a lifesaver! Really appreciate your thoroughness! Helped a first time kegger.
this is the video that got me to subscribe. the others are just cream(y head) on top. solid clean video and helped a noob so much back when i first got into kegging
Very thorough and informative, well done.

This was an excellent presentation. Nice job on this! Very clear, very helpful. Thank you very much!
Glad to hear that this is useful. Cheers and thanks for watching!
Very nice demonstration, the beer looked good to.
Good show.

Great detail on cleaning the keg. Will keep in mind for when I start Kegging.
Great details instructions and thanks
well you made that hard work, I don't do half of what you do and still get great results.
great video, very helpful as I have just recently picked up some kegs and plan to fill them with beer later this week. Keep the videos coming!
Thank you so much for your instructive video on kegging homebrew. That beer in your hand looked sooo good! Steve of Boise, ID. (I am probably signed in with my daughters log-in)
yes, you are really doing as a professor! Thank you! Nikola
Great Video. I am looking at getting a set up like this to brew and keg some home beer brewing. Thanks for the info!
Excellent video mate! I'm about to build a Keezer and get a few kegs. Very informative video! Cheers 17.

great video on process though thanks
Good video and clear commentary. Entertaining.
Great vid Glenn! Thanks for sharing how you clean & sanitise in preparation for kegging! Cheers :)
Great video! I just got a keg system and I'm eager to break it in. Hopefully I can put what I learned here to good use soon. Cheers!
You are right, it's also possible to use oxiclean! When I have a extremely dirty keg I will use that to. I used this keg for some apple cider and it wasn't dirty at all. Thanks for watching man! Cheers 17 :-)
Clean and simple
Thanks Glenn

Where are you located bro? I really enjoy your videos! You have a decent setup and brewery man!! Good onya and bottoms up
top notch video! excellent work
Lots of good info -thanks.
Thanks for all the tips!
Enjoyed your video. Why did you take your keg apart at the end of cleaning? I brake my keg down before I clean it.
Pretty good video. Great detail.
Nicely done mate!
Hi, Thanks so much for the video. At the end you talk about a trick to carbonating the keg quickly. Can you send a link to that video as I can't find it.
Do you have a video on how you put your gas line and co2 tank out your fridge?
Hi, thanks for the comment! Unfortunately I don't have a video about that particular question. I bet there a a lot of it on RUclips tough. I can check some old footage I didn't upload. I l t you know if I found something. Cheers 🍻

Wow thanks!! So lube up all the Orings?? Didn’t know that.
informative. nice setup man.
Dayyumm, nice sign on the wall!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Off to clean my keg now ... Thanks for sharing Cheers
Good housekeeping on the keg. I use a little oxyclean when cleaning before sanitizing. Cheers bro 17!

Favorite quote. "Don't fear the foam". Thanks a bunch. I have a fear of Starsan foam myself. It it really that safe to not rinse? Thanks.
Great tutorial. Have moved onto kegs from the tiresome bottles leaving out the long wait to taste!
I've purchased 2 of those auto-siphons and both times they generated loads of oxygen bubbles. Is there ant decent brands to look out for?

Great video! Thanks for the tips.
What kind of container or tray are you using to soak the parts? Is it for mudding drywall?

I would, however, empty the StarSan from the racking cane into another container before starting to fill the keg.
ggo85 don't fear the foam lol

Kegging is great and less time consuming. Love to control the carbonation level on the beer! Cheers my friend.
What do you do with the remaining 5L of beer from your fermenter? Great video for us kegging novices. TY
Usually I bottle it :-) Cheers
Thanks, great information. Question: After you filled with the beer sealed the lid on the keg, how long does it normally take to get the keg pressurised prior to forced carbonation or storage and at what Kpi? It might have been covered so I may have missed it..

Hi, thanks for the kind comment. Indeed, separate sanitizing of the valves is completely unnecessary. Just a bad habit I guess :-) Cheers
@@homebeerbrewery Thanks a lot!!
Thanks. What is the lubricant you are using please?
What lube did you use there? I have to get one of those auto siphons!!! They look mint. Awesome Video!!
Is there a limit for how long you can keep StarSan in a spray bottle like that? I want to keep mine around without having to throw it out. Thanks!
How long do you leave your beer to age once you have it in the keg? And at what temperature?
ur a boss! thanks for the info.
Beginning research on kegging, this was a great, concise, informative video. You mentioned you'll force carbonate at around 30 psi, for a day or two. What psi do you use for normal serving of the beer?
It depends on the type of beer and length of lines, but 8-13 psi
