OM 4 the love of God, when is someone going to make a gimbal that just works? That just works with everything! A gimbal that can take a case, any case, and can handle Moment lenses, and, this is important, also can accommodate an external microphone without going bonkers. I just bought the OM 3, a new Moment replacement lens and the Moment lens case because my first experience was with the Zhiyun Smooth 4 (highly recommended and got rave reviews) was such a joke. While it works with just a phone, it's an entire pain when attaching a Moment lens, plus the Moment counterweights, which are strap-on, and attaching an external mic - the socket is blocked by the gimbal - is a headache all around; trying to balance it is an act of faith. The Zhiyun Smooth 4 does not, does not, does not work satisfactorily with any additions beyond the phone. That's my experience.

Gimbals are very advanced pieces of engineering. Judging from their battery case for iPhone 7/8, it seems like they’re done with electronics for a while. They seem to be jumping into fabrics and fashion with stuff like their moment everyday bags.
I appreciate you all introducing me into the film world with your moment lenses but its clear that you all are moving from that to bigger camera set ups and thats completely fine. I would much rather go with the polar pro case and variable ND set up on the Iphone 11 pro because it already has and ultra wide lens and i would just use your app to control shutter and ISO. The point of the mobile lenses and setup was to be run and gun but when you begin to add counter weights and filters it kinda defeats the purpose. i cant thank you guys enough for getting me started in this new career path.

You are recommending the Freefly Movi, but I saw a video that using the ultra wide lens that you would see the arm. Exactly this, I am planing to get the Samsung Note 20 Ultra or the Iphone 12 Pro max and those are 310 grams and 360 grams with just the lenses. Add the vnd and you are about 60-70 grams heavier than that.
I wondered the same thing so I tried on my moment case with the lens and counter weights n it works it’s heavier than suggested weight limit but the motors handle it well
i owned dji osmo mobile 3 i bought a couple weeks ago and no problem using it with anamorphic lens and wide lens without using counter weight balance and easy to set up
Don't even try. I have an osmo mobile 3 and it can't even handle an s20 plus with moment lens. I'm using moment counterweights too. The s20 plus is heavy on its own. Add moment case, moment lens and counterweights... Set yourself up for a super weak motor to fail. I just went boss mode and got a zhiyun weebil s because I also use moment lens filter mount and variable nd dilter plus cpl filter and the gimbal doubles as useful for dslr if I ever want to upgrade. Honestly though, I made the request to moment to make a compatibility list for gimbals about a month ago after purchasing hundreds of dollars worth of their products. Wonder if they'd actually listened and that's why they made this... 🤔
The wallet case is actually lighter than a standard case by 3 ounces. I got mine to work by using a Dremel tool and putting a notch where the clamp sits (not pretty, but functional), something you might consider incorporating into your new case designs. That said I didn't order the counterweight set (but should have) because your compatibility chart said that with an iPhone X no CW is needed. I can't even get it balanced correctly with a Macro lens albeit I don't want the clamp over the buttons. I also ordered an M-series lens mount because even on the standard case, while it works, it's still a little precarious. DJI should offer a clamp option that is more case compatible IMHO, or maybe that is something you guys can license from them.

Let me help all of you till Moment makes they’re own smartphone gimbal: first of all, i do understand that moment and dji have a partnership, that’s why you’ll find dji products on moment’s website... i mean, its a business, so, why not? Second, moment should give us a chance to look another products lineup and sell them too like the FEIYUTECH G6 MAX, wich is unbelievable capable and hold up 1.2 Kg (2.65 lb) its amazing. As a moment product owner, i can attach, moment walnut case to my iphone xs max, this to the moment 58mm lens, the 62mm adapter, the gobe uv filter, cpl filter and the 62mm gobe variable ND filter... all this its just bananas 🍌 for the feiyu... why don’t you sell it moment? Oh, it has full vortex mode, comes with tripod included in the box, it have focus wheel, and also you can put on it a sony a7s lll or a gopro like a breeze ...and it cost $249 usd. sadly i have to buy it somewhere else because this OM 4 looks good, for beginners but not for all of us who really takes the mobile filmmaking seriously.
I'm using the 18mm and 58mm but I don't have the counterweight. If I buy a gimbal, could you pls suggest which gimbal should I buy? OM3 or OM4? Because I can't carry a lot of stuff during my trip. (Just my SS phone + 2 lenses + 1 gimbal) Thank you. ^^
Love moment gear and app. Just a quick question , i love the feature of blur effect when i have my gimbal, but the one plus using the gimbal for hyperlpase is you can draw a box around your subject. I wish your app would update to that feature. ?

I have a question, I wanted to get a filter and a thin case from you guys to use on my iPhone 11. I bought a microphone, the Rode VideoMic ME-L. I love it but when I use the mic it says I need to balance it. I am not sure what to do, I do not know if the counterweight will help, if it will can you please let me know??? Just got my OM4 in today. Have my iPhone XR in a Moment case with 37mm filter attachment and an ND filter. It comes in under the OM4's rated 290 grams, but I cannot get smooth motion lapses. Lots of jittering because of the weight. According to your chart, I don't need counterweights, so I guess right now my only choice is to take the case off and use a clip for the filters.
Lots of D's in that compatibility spreadsheet, sadly! :( is it due to the case size? If so could you sell a camera lens mount attachment or release more thin cases for older devices?
I find that for my full mobile film making setup, nothing beats the free fly movi .. easily manages my iPhone 11 Pro Max, moment case, moment lenses and filters. I only use my OM 3 when I’m not running the filters, and just an anamorphic lens.. all the others are basically too heavy, so when I want a quick point and shoot , then it’s OM time
The removable clamp will not stay on a Pixel 4 Moment Case. It pops off every time. I had to use the sticky clamp mounted to the back of the case in the center on top of a metal plate I had there already. It will work with ulanzi PT-10 weights on Amazon. Still not balanced with the weights and mounted in the center of the phone but the motor can overcome it.
according to their chart, counterweights don't work with 12 pro and 12 pro max, unfortunately.... that means my DJI OM 4 became useless and i will have to find a workaround to use my 12 pro max with my Moment lens...
Counter weight system isn’t terrible, but can you guys just make a clamp exactly like the om4 clamp to move back and forth across the bottom of the phone instead of the cylinder weights to eliminate the phone hitting the gimbal with all lenses? Just a thought
Awesome video guys. I was so stoked to upgrade to the OM 4 to use my iPhone XS Max with the moment Lens. Didn’t really work to well with the Osmo 3 but def works a lot better with the Om 4
I don’t think it would as long as you use counterweights. If anything it may start to overheat. If that is the case, just turn it off for a while to cool down
I’m looking at a setup like yours. I’m wondering what case you are using. The chart shows that an IPhone XS Max with the moment case and lens won’t work with the OM4. I was curious why. Is the clip from dji too small to fit around the bulky case or is it working fine for you?
Did you guys update the compatibility chart? I saw that all protective case for iphone 11 pro max is now marked D. I just bought an OM 4 for pro max. So this means I need to purchase the thin one.
We did update the chart, we were seeing more variance over the first few days than what we experienced in our own testing so we changed a few setups from "works okay, but not perfect" to "doesn't work".
Use the moment or filmic pro app. With the dji app you cannot choose the camera which you want to use. If you want to use time lapse with motion, there are two options. Firdt, moment app is campatible with that. Or use another phone to trick the gimbal into thinking that your secondary phone is in the gimbal, instead you use your primary phone for recording
I have yet to see a video demonstrating the full range of motion. I want to follow film from a very low angle that points up at 45 degrees, out in front of me NOT sideways that means I have to hold the gimbal angled down straight out in front of me and have the camera angled up at a 45. I haven't seen anyone demonstrate this filming position so I dont know if its possible.

Hey Moment! I am trying to set u a function for the OM4 zoom button within the Pro Camera app and it's not working at all. I'm on ios 14.3 and app version is 4.3.3 (2149) in my Iphone 11 Pro. Is this a common issue maybe? Thanks!
TBH, if you want to do serious work on an iPhone, you might as well use a Ronin-RSC2, or the RS2. I bought the OM4 because I want to record a concert in anamorphic with minimal effort. I gotta say it's a pain in the ____ to work with consumer grade gimbal.
Why not make counter weight on the case itself. One simple weighted plate slapped on the opposite back side of the lense . Pretty sure that will work verywell

I don't get how you come to the conclusion that it just does not work?! I use an iPhone XR & Walnut Case & Anamorphic Lens & 62mm Mount & Variable ND Filter & 3 Counterweights Due to the 100g overload the battery drowns fast, and in some situations it stutters. but it's working. nevertheless i need to switch to the freefly....

I have the Note20 Ultra. I just got the moment case and it fits in the clamps pretty securely. My lenses haven't come in yet so I'm not sure about the balancing yet.
Hope DJI will integrate this magnetic mount in its ecosystem/future products. DJI or you guys can make cases for popular phones to work with this gimbal.
Daoud MOVI is 2 years old and they don‘t have all the same features, so i wouldn‘t say it‘s better. With the counterweights you can attach about anything as far as i know, so that‘s a plus. It‘s still more expensive than the new OM4 tho 🤷♂️
Well I just received the OM 4 from you guys and I’m sorry to report that it doesn’t work for me as you state. Even when using the counter weights, with the photo case + 18mm wide, the phone remains slightly tilted to the left (side of lens). This is happening regardless of where I position the clamp on the phone (tried moving it up and down to no avail). The gimbal simply miscalculates what “balanced” is. The horizon is clearly tilted. Am I missing something? Any advice?
@@malakaiisaacs well i already returned it. I suspect it wouldn't have helped anyway because it's a weight distribution issue; the motor just couldn't handle all that weight on each side.

I am really regretting my purchase of the 11 Pro Max. I have the black canvas case along with the wide V2 and the anamorphic lens. Not sure it’s gonna work.
i feel like 90 percent of shooting videography or cinematic looking things in general requires you to use a basic ND filter and almost seems the mobile gimbals are damn near obsolete in a lot of ways lol.. heres movie quality stabilization.. but basically zero capability of following the 180 degree shutter rule lol... you'd think after the second generation of gimbals these companies have put out they'd catch on by now..
I'm have iPhone 11 Pro max, Moment lens 58mm with Moment photo case, and DJI OM 4. Unfortunately the gimbal couldn't handle the weight overall. So i wouldn't recommend this gimbal if you are using iPhone 11 pro max with Moment lens and the Moment case.

Am I reading the compatibility chart incorrectly? from Iphone 8plus and newer iPhones, i didnt do the math but I'm eyeballing it and looks like 90% of these phones with different configurations (with case, without) are not compatible. highly sus for this new product. lol
Are Moment’s own counter weights compatible with the OM 4? www.shopmoment.com/shop/universal-counterweight-add-on-weight/ Each Moment weight is 30g whereas each OM 4 weight is 17g. If compatible, it might be possible to use the filters or other “heavy” equipment.
@@heck7386 Please allow me to rephrase my question...I already own Moment's own counterweights (2 @ 30g each). Are the threads on those counterweights compatible with the OM4?! If they are, then some people might be able to use Moment's heavier accessories, such as the filters. And if they are, perhaps you would consider making another video demonstrating that capability.

Battery Cases going away was actually due to Apple ending the MFI program on Battery Cases... so you never know what we might be up to next.

If they have a partnership with DJI I doubt they could advertise for other companies in the same space...
We do carry Zhiyun's line of gimbals which have a lot of similarities with the Feiyutech gimbals but are generally more popular/better reviewed.

You may need to use the clip and adjust how the phone is centered.

Why? Because of balancing
The motors are stronger on the OM4 which helps with the weight and balancing. You do however still need to use the counterweight.

I’m looking at a setup like yours. I’m wondering what case you are using. The chart shows that an IPhone XS Max with the moment case and lens won’t work with the OM4. I was curious why. Is the clip from dji too small to fit around the bulky case or is it working fine for you?

Did you guys update the compatibility chart? I saw that all protective case for iphone 11 pro max is now marked D. I just bought an OM 4 for pro max. So this means I need to purchase the thin one.
We did update the chart, we were seeing more variance over the first few days than what we experienced in our own testing so we changed a few setups from "works okay, but not perfect" to "doesn't work".
Why can’t you use the magnet sticker on the moment case and scoot it closer to the lenses for balancing without counterweights?

When using this gimbal do you recommend shooting in the DJI app or the Moment app?
Use the moment or filmic pro app. With the dji app you cannot choose the camera which you want to use. If you want to use time lapse with motion, there are two options. Firdt, moment app is campatible with that. Or use another phone to trick the gimbal into thinking that your secondary phone is in the gimbal, instead you use your primary phone for recording
I have yet to see a video demonstrating the full range of motion. I want to follow film from a very low angle that points up at 45 degrees, out in front of me NOT sideways that means I have to hold the gimbal angled down straight out in front of me and have the camera angled up at a 45. I haven't seen anyone demonstrate this filming position so I dont know if its possible.

TBH, if you want to do serious work on an iPhone, you might as well use a Ronin-RSC2, or the RS2. I bought the OM4 because I want to record a concert in anamorphic with minimal effort. I gotta say it's a pain in the ____ to work with consumer grade gimbal.
How did the iPhone 10 get so hooped, no thin case, no OM4 compatibility??
Why not make counter weight on the case itself. One simple weighted plate slapped on the opposite back side of the lense . Pretty sure that will work verywell

I don't get how you come to the conclusion that it just does not work?!
I use an iPhone XR & Walnut Case & Anamorphic Lens & 62mm Mount & Variable ND Filter & 3 Counterweights
Due to the 100g overload the battery drowns fast, and in some situations it stutters.
but it's working.
nevertheless i need to switch to the freefly....
The stuttering would be why we don't recommend it. There's a few setups that are close to functional, but just not quite great.

Hey, I'm currently using the galaxy Note 20 with my DJI OM 4. Looking to add the Moment case a lens. But online I'm seeing that it might not be compatible any suggestions?
I have the Note20 Ultra. I just got the moment case and it fits in the clamps pretty securely.
My lenses haven't come in yet so I'm not sure about the balancing yet.
Just got the OM4 and it doesn't feel secure with my moment case when you use that clamp!
Hope DJI will integrate this magnetic mount in its ecosystem/future products. DJI or you guys can make cases for popular phones to work with this gimbal.
Considering ip11 pm weighs 225g and has a C rating, i think the note 20ultra will likewise work bec it only weighs 208g
My iPhone 11 Pro barely fits in the clamp. It fell off today in fact. It's simply not tight enough.
I live in India.., the shipping price of these counterweights for me is far greater than the actual product price !

Daoud MOVI is 2 years old and they don‘t have all the same features, so i wouldn‘t say it‘s better. With the counterweights you can attach about anything as far as i know, so that‘s a plus. It‘s still more expensive than the new OM4 tho 🤷♂️
Well I just received the OM 4 from you guys and I’m sorry to report that it doesn’t work for me as you state. Even when using the counter weights, with the photo case + 18mm wide, the phone remains slightly tilted to the left (side of lens). This is happening regardless of where I position the clamp on the phone (tried moving it up and down to no avail). The gimbal simply miscalculates what “balanced” is. The horizon is clearly tilted. Am I missing something? Any advice?
There is a horizon correction on the DJI gimbal app which you can access in the settings under “calibrate”
@@malakaiisaacs well i already returned it. I suspect it wouldn't have helped anyway because it's a weight distribution issue; the motor just couldn't handle all that weight on each side.
@@malakaiisaacs The horizon was calculated correctly in first few moments, but then screwed up upon first panning attempt--that is why i suspect calibration would not help much.

You can use your case and stick it on your case that’s fine it works great
i feel like 90 percent of shooting videography or cinematic looking things in general requires you to use a basic ND filter and almost seems the mobile gimbals are damn near obsolete in a lot of ways lol.. heres movie quality stabilization.. but basically zero capability of following the 180 degree shutter rule lol... you'd think after the second generation of gimbals these companies have put out they'd catch on by now..

I'm have iPhone 11 Pro max, Moment lens 58mm with Moment photo case, and DJI OM 4. Unfortunately the gimbal couldn't handle the weight overall. So i wouldn't recommend this gimbal if you are using iPhone 11 pro max with Moment lens and the Moment case.
Ben i have the Iphone Pro Max 11 and i have both OM 3 and OM 4 the OM 3 An 58mm was a no go, However without any counterbalance weights i was able to use the Anamorphic.

Am I reading the compatibility chart incorrectly? from Iphone 8plus and newer iPhones, i didnt do the math but I'm eyeballing it and looks like 90% of these phones with different configurations (with case, without) are not compatible. highly sus for this new product. lol
In almost every case we recommend an upgrade to the RS2 or RSC2 if you want to use lenses and filters in addition to your phone.

Each Moment weight is 30g whereas each OM 4 weight is 17g. If compatible, it might be possible to use the filters or other “heavy” equipment.

@@heck7386 Please allow me to rephrase my question...I already own Moment's own counterweights (2 @ 30g each). Are the threads on those counterweights compatible with the OM4?! If they are, then some people might be able to use Moment's heavier accessories, such as the filters. And if they are, perhaps you would consider making another video demonstrating that capability.
