So the addons that you download from workshop will never be able to hack you. In Gmod as example, these "viruses" can do harm like deleting your "data" folder, and all the dupes, pac3 and other things with that. But that's pretty much the only irreversible thing it can do, which you can just avoid by backups of your data sometimes. In short - no, it can't hack you, and will never will, because any backdoor in workshop is backdoor in steam servers
By the way, there is a new virus, it is sewn into addons, after you download one or another addon, then in seconds or minutes, a screamer will appear, so be careful

Hi, I play Garry's Mod. I'm here to tell you that this is not a 'virus'. It does not affect your system, or other workshop addons you have installed. Workshop addons cannot read files outside of the garrysmod folder, and cannot write files outside of the garrysmod/data folder; so it cannot overwrite Lua files, for example. It's just a screamer. So if anyone was worried, rest assured, this does no harm to your system. CREDITS TO TOPHAT or smth like that
I thought it was that addon, i unsubbed to all recently subbed addons i had and thought they were the ones responsible, so i was like, maybe an update slipped through to that, huh then it should have a command to disable, nothing in console, at this point i wasn't really freaking out, just weirded out... I tried looking online for a solution along the lines of "Gmod breathing chat spam" or something like that, but of course the internet has yet again proven useless to me until i actually manually checked every addon i had and found that the script icon remover(which was quite useless btw because it didn't work for me but i forgot about it) was the issue because i unsubbed to it and i looked at it and was even more weirded out by the strange new icon... I thought i was the only one having this issue(pretty dumb because it was sort of a popular addon) seeing this video now one month later, it reminded me of the two days i had to suffer hearing heavy breathing and my menus messing up. Anyways good stuff!

i hate when people say "omg is that interloper" and same situation with that Virus, i shit myself and after that thats kinda boring ARG bullshit.
Suggestions:
1. Delete all of your addons.
2. View which one is suspicious.
3. Look at the console command what it says.
Or learn LUA and Check every addon's lua
And view every addon folder for any suspicious
