      I wish you could hear more in Peru but there doesn't seem to be much chatting over there.

    When I was a crew driver here in Central Texas, I saw many crew changes a bit faster than this!

      All together took about 8 minutes I guess they move a little slower here in the Midwest. Lol

    These guys didn’t seem to be moving too fast so hopefully there weren’t too many vehicles waiting to cross. 🤔

    • @therailroadtiespiker
      @therailroadtiespiker  Год назад

      Faster than most crews and no they're not blocking any crossing going westbound the yard is behind them.

    Why so much baggage Do they really need it

    • @clarkkent525
      @clarkkent525 Год назад +8

      Yes they do. Unlike most jobs they don't always get home in the same day and might have to stay the night at a hotel. Plus weather changes so they need the proper clothing for those situation. And they also take a lunch pail as they can't stop to get food. It's like the life of a trucker but just like a trucker it takes a special kind of person to be a railroader. I personally respect them as its a tuff job and not even a set schedule. And I'm a truck driver.

      Yes and I seen them dragging even more they can be out on the high iron for up to a week before getting back home.

      @@therailroadtiespiker A week?? Which railroad keeps their crew away from home for up to a week?? The absolute longest I've ever been held away is 48 hours, and that includes the trips on both ends. I've heard of nightmare horror stories of being away for 3 days, but never an entire week. Haha remind me not to work for the railroad that keeps me THAT long. Lol

    • @kensingtonchapp4819
      @kensingtonchapp4819 Год назад +1

      It's really up to the crew member how much they pack. I sometimes work with a guy who has no less than 5 bags plus a cooler the size of a small car just to stay overnight for one night in the hotel. And then there's me, with one duffel and nothing else. It just depends on the individual.

      @@kensingtonchapp4819 ok 72 hours tops but still long enough. I drove truck and we could be out for over 30 days at a time. Now that sucked

    I've seen faster. Under 30 seconds from stop to start.

    • @therailroadtiespiker
      @therailroadtiespiker  Год назад

      How did they have time to stop the train or at least get it to 10 mph so they could get off and the other get on I would love to see that. Would make a very neat video. Lol

      @@therailroadtiespiker Stopping was tough but starting was easy since we have a 3% grade so they just released the brakes and instantly rolled forward no power needed. These guys were on a busy main blocking single tracked mainline and so the second crew shook hands and then climbed on immediately.
