I wish the Space Wolves had played more of a role in the Horus Heresy. If they were at the Siege of Terra, the Traitors would've had a more difficult time and Russ might've killed Horus instead.
Dude, doubtful, yeah it would have been tougher for horus, but I just finished the siege of terra series, and russ would have stood zero chance against Horus, he was waaaaay to OP, Sanguinius got his licks in, but in the end, he stood no chance, even if he had acted and decapitated Horus, I doubt Horus would have died, his battle with the Emporer showed that he could simply remake himself at will, the Emporer only beat him because the chaos gods got butthurt when Horus got trucked into abandoning there power, so they gave it back slowly without thinking that was all patt of the Emporers planed last ditch attack. If Russ had confronted Horus aswell, there would simply be another dead loyalist primarch.
The burning of prospero was a big contribution for Horus. It weakened what would have been 2 loyal legions and by the end, moved the Thousand sons to join Horus. Horus was able to reduce the fighting strength of 2 legions by just tricking Russ into executing the Thousand Sons instead of the original order of capturing and bringing him to Terra. If Russ brought Magnus to Terra instead and make his case of Horus Heresy, combined with Nathaniel Garro’s arrival. that would have kept both SW and Thousand Sons (or at least a large number of them) available for the defense. Magnus would have been able to sit on the throne much longer than Malchador could and would have left the Emperor free to move about earlier in the Siege, with Russ/Sanguinus/Dorn/Jaghatai rallying a larger defensive contingent.

Although the wast amount of books make seem to last far longer, the Horus heresy lasted for only 9 standard Terran years. They are correct on this.
