    Great review. I've enjoyed your material all year because it's always clear and to the point. Keep up the great work! 🙃

      Much appreciated, thanks for tuning in this year, a lot more on the way for 2024.

    Good honest review. I have a small Kanto YU2 on my desk, nice warm sounding. Saves on space, no amps, dacs, cables.

      There is something to be said about getting all the clutter off the desk. I just have to deal with it, I generally have a few different products in testing, all good though.

    Great Review. Just an easy going dude cutting the bs out, and giving great insides and recommendations. Any idea for a small desktop speaker with grills (have a small yard next to my office so, plenty of dust) Hope You have great 2024. Mine will as long as i keep following you.

      You looking for powered or a speaker amp pairing?

    Actually, you can use a subwoofer - however, you need a subwoofer (there are plenty of them) that have crossovers on the rear. In my system for example, I have a Presonus powered 8" subwoofer with an active crossover on the rear. I'm using the KEF Q150's (and sometimes a pair of Presonus active speakers) and what I do is run my RCA cables from my DAC to the subwoofer - using the 80 Hz crossover point - and from the subwoofer, cables running to a power amp. With powered speakers (again, I have Presonus active speakers in my collection), you just run the RCA's (or balanced cables - and this subwoofer has both types of inputs and outputs), from the subwoofer to the powered speakers. So you can determine the crossover point where only certain frequencies are covered by the sub, and the rest are channeled to the powered speakers.

      Yep, your spot on you certainly can the way you described, alot of subs are bass management capable. I only mention it because I felt they should have added this as a feature on the speaker to bring a bit more value to the table.

    It kind of seems the kids were in charge of designing these. Maybe put the adults in charge next time. As always a good review!

      Some good here too but certainly a few misses in my opinion, I do hope they come out with a V2 at some point.

    Since there are so many home studio monitors on the market anybody is going to have a hard time offering better value than those. I just use Peters Equalizer APO Configuration Extension (PEACE) in Windows to equalize mine to taste

      I like a lot of what they are doing here, things like the build quality, in house tweeter things like that but just a few additions would really open these up, sub out, remote and Bluetooth which I don’t really use but a lot do. I can say they are the heaviest smallest speakers I have had in.

    For this application you can't beat the Edifier MR4s imo, they also look 250% better than these ugly things

    I just ordered these, but I am concerned. However, I fall in to the gamer fist, music second category with space limitation. However, in norway thes cost closer to 500 dollars. Do you have any recommendations in the 300 - 400 dollar range? If you reply fast, I just might manage to cancel the order :p

    • @MattCoykendall1
      @MattCoykendall1  9 месяцев назад +2

      If your space limited don’t fret, for the user who needs something compact on a desktop these are pretty good, I would say their size to performance ratio is their strongest selling point. My main gripes were feature and use oriented.

    Erin really ripped into these and you can see some of the issues these have in the measurements outside of just their size and lack of low-end which is too bad as I think they look kinda cool. Aside from the "issues" though the price and lack of subwoofer output is pretty puzzling and kinda make them a non-starter.
    You should maybe do Overnight Sensation build, I think those are similar in size and have an F3 in the upper 50s.
