Petition for RUclips to FREAKING DO SOMETHING AGAINST THE COPYSTRIKE ISSUE! We legit need Twoset to survive!
- and it's not just Twoset. It has gotten ridiculous. Probably trolls who have nothing better to do, not about music or royalties.

TwoSet was my inspiration to start learning Viola.
OH I JUST REALIZED-
I'm sorry that was funny
Awesome! 👍
BAHHAHA
Dont burn yourself and the others🥺🥺🥺
Same…
i am not a musician but i am a self-taught singer. i have been watching since 2019 and have learned so much about classical music. thank you guys for everything you do.
Go, you! I think voice is one of the most difficult instruments to master. You so are a musician!
Singers are definitely musicians! Being self-taught doesn't mean you're not a musician either. It just means that you have less help in learning, which makes it harder.
Same, same and same!
Sorry, but you can‘t take your voice on this plane
yeah, along the lines of what everyone else has said, singers are most definitely musicians! 😄

Regarding the Polish airline story, reminded me of a pre-pandemic gig where I was responsible for hauling my kumu hula's ipu heke, a traditional percussion instrument, from Hawai'i back to the States. The morning of our departure on Hawaiian Airlines, I made an effort to look extra presentable vs my normal airport at 6 AM version of myself, hoping that TSA pre-check would also give me better chances of a friendlier inspection/boarding experience. The guy I had stopped me and I was steeling myself with all the Karen statements I had mentally prepared for this moment, when another female airline attendant who seemed to know more about cultural protocols came over and saved me. She gave my ipu heke its own seat in the back for the duration of the flight!!!
Whoever decorated that cake forgot to add “like fine wine.” Growing older is a blessing and for your birthdays, I wish you many many years and decades together, making music and sharing that joy with us all.
Calling that cake decorated is pretty generous.
@@Jivvi Indeed. Perhaps I should have written “Whoever scribbled on that cake . . .” but then again it could be minimalist decoration.
AGED is a decent motif. We need Jordan He to work his magic for Eddy's bday
TwoSet just posted a short clip titled “We Old” that uses AGED! Just a few notes scribbled on a sheet of paper but still. Great minds think alike!
about the "I learn music by ear " there was an ensemble of musicians here in Romania called Lautarii de la Clejeni ( Taraful haiducilor ). They were all gypsies and that's what they did all their lives, one of them learned fucking paganini on the violin by listening to the cassette a few times. The old master of the group invented a new weird way to play violin by pulling a string through the other strings ( very sacreligious in regards to classical music ) but it sounded amazing in our folclore music .
Some of the best musicians I've ever heard were gypsies. Incredibly talented, accurate, fast
these men have fuly forgotten to light up their little knick knacks in the back
That clarinet video is from the Iowa State University's clarinet ensemble conducted by Dr. Gregory Oakes. I used to be in his studio. He's a very experimental clarinetist himself so I'm not surprised that he allowed the students to do that 😂 He also like to play the quatertone clarinet he had specially made for him.
That’s my professor!
Cool!

"I don't understand how you can think about music without sheet music"
Both the strength and weakness of classically trained musicians summed up.
Proof that classical musicians are annoying.
9:42 if you rearrange the word you get all the strings on the violin in order😉
Thank you, came here to figure that out because I didn't get the reference.
so it becomes " you have violin strings/you have violin"? cool
If you move the D two spaces to the left, you get the order in which some people tune their violins after hearing the orchestral A being sounded - A, D, G and finally E.
You guys are both extremely hard working and professional musicians! I have immense respect for both of you, Brett and Eddy! You guys are always an inspiration to everyone! Thank you Brett and Eddy!
Yes, I agree! :)
Learning by ear came long before sheet music, and it is still the traditional method in many traditions. I find that learning by ear tends to lead to faster memorization than reading sheet music, but it takes longer to learn to play a piece. I am also typically learning fairly simple pieces by ear compared to the things I use sheet music for.
"you cant do that at a concert" meanwhile their concerts : ...
Hitting on us violists again, eh? Well! Now you are sentenced to play 1000 Strauss waltzes *without violas*!!! Let's see how far you get without going crazy!
Started watching your guys from 2018 (when you were trying to hit 1M). Yesterday I got a mute at the very violin shop you visited when you visited Curtis. When the owner told me that, I instantly felt more connected with your guys! Keep on!
Viola spell: instantly transposes everyone’s music to alto clef 🧙♀️
That would kill me. I'm a cellist and I dread going from the bass to the alto clef. It disrupts my automatic pilot.
I was in a choir for 10 years, but I can't read sheet music (and I was not the only one). Rutter was a little tough, but I got on OK. On the other hand I watched the problems caused by those who NEVER watched the conductor, because they couldn't tear their eyes away from the music - which they had sung hundreds of times. The sight-reading people could never get syncopation right either, while those of us who sing intuitively found it a breeze.
I sang rutter’s requiem in choir last year, and it could be difficult to sing, even I who played percussion in high school and college had a little difficult time with singing the rhythms in time 😂.
Love Rutter and singing in a choir. Agreed that choir singing best without music and eyes on the conductor.
genuinely curious - how do you learn and memorize the notes without sheet music?
@@FefeHpg how do you memorize your favorite song on the radio?
@@FefeHpg - I cheated a LITTLE bit. When we started to learn a new piece, at rehearsal I would sit next to someone in my section that I knew could read music, and I would sing what they sang. After a time or two through, I had it. Sometimes, if it was a harder piece, I would buy a cd, or they would burn a few for some of us to listen to at home. I could see when the notes went up and down 😆 on the sheets, and of course the choir director set the tempo, told us louder or softer, that sort of thing. I didn't fly under the radar though. I was asked to sing in a couple of ensembles, so I was accepted in spite of my shortcomings.
Bro, these people are the only reason I even still play the violin. I was going to quit playing a couple years ago but I gave it a chance because of twoset and I now love playing. I wanna play for orchestras as a soloist, I also wanna go to a prestigious music school. I have my eyes set more on juliard. I know it's an ambitious goal but if I do get in juliard and play in a orchestra, it's all because of twoset.
You guys have been working so hard to bring us amazing concerts, amazing content, and soon to be an amazing world tour! Thank you for all that you do and please do remember to take care of yourselves! 💜

I have been watching your videos since 2016 and literally 90% of my classical knowledge comes from y'all. Keep up the good work!
I had a professor in college who would not call singers, musicians because they often could not read music. I agree that not reading music is like learning a language without being able to read it. I started piano at 6 because I was playing by ear. I ended up being good at sight reading and improvising - the best of both worlds.
In my experience, non-singers don't know anything about singing, including college professors. Also, it just highlights the snobby and elitist attitude that exists in classical music.
Respectfully disagree with your professor, can blind people not be musicians XD?
I mean, reading music is a ridiculously useful skill. I just don't think it's really as important as Eddy thinks it is, though maybe he has a different perspective being someone with perfect pitch.
@@elizabethyork3909 Agreed - with all three!
@@deaddoll1361 This professor was the only one I had with this attitude but he was the department head so he had some clout. Most of my singer friends also played another instrument so they could read at least one clef well.
@@elizabethyork3909 I think the analogy about not reading music is like learning a language without being able to read it does hold up. He's not saying it's wrong or right but an observation. I don't have perfect pitch but I can improvise well. I can speak a couple languages but can't read them. There is a similarity in that. I agree with you that blind people can be excellent musicians. They do use hearing but there is Braille music.
I’m a coral singer and there is this one beloved piece that kept getting pulled out over and over again. And our part, the second altos. consisted of two notes for about 12 pages. There were only two notes in the entire piece for us. One day our section leader got so bored during rehearsal that she asked the Director to please review our part for us on page 3 or something. He smiled and went along and reviewed the part. The last time I was at a choir reunion and they pulled out this piece. I was very tempted to organize a strike amongst the second altos and not sing during rehearsal, just to see if anyone even noticed.
This sounds like Hark I hear the harps eternal. It probably isn’t, but as an Alto, I feel your pain
@@trashyinferno you are right it is indeed Hark I Hear the Harp Eternal! So where did you sing; I was at Augustana.
@@pjschmid2251 I sang it in high school in TX (won’t say where - internet safety and all). I haven’t sung it since, thank heavens! If you’re ever in the mood for a good alto line, look up Hallelujah by Rosephanye Powell (God is My Refuge is SUCH a fun line) or Ecce by Richard Bruchard (gorgeous line for altos)
I’m also a choral singer, and I’m also an alto. My favorite is when we get mi over and over and we sound like a cult 😂😂😂
As a clarinet player, I love the clarinet one. If we don’t have the melody, or harmony, we have rest, rest, rest
I just started watching this channel and I've literally just been binging it, straight back through almost every upload. I'm all the way back to pre-pandemic days now.
I'm getting so many old two set videos in my recs that I didn't even notice at first this was a new video. Halfway through I noticed the background and realized I'm back to the present. So I wanted to say hi to the new community. Hi, community!
Hello! Welcome to the family!
Welcome! I did the same thing when I first found Twoset. I still rewatch a couple videos everyday❤
LingLing welcomes you to the community!
Idk if this is feasible, but it would be cool if y'all did an orchestra world tour, and included local professional orchestras. Like how soloists do their tours, I guess.
That would be cool, but it would cost millions.
I mean, I’m sure their regular tour wouldn’t be cheap, either. But soloists get paid for their appearances, and TwoSet is as well-known as any soloist, so why shouldn’t they be able to work something out?
Eddy to Brett: It's like you with Chinese.
Damn! 🤣
I know he was joking but the analogy is correct!
Been practicing for almost 4 hours after working a whole day, your new video is the best reward 💖
I think the multi measure rest is a lovely idea. I think that could actually add to a concert - maybe juggling or some interesting visuals - or maybe back out to the stables to feed the horses as in Hayden's day.
Please don't ever quit RUclips 😫

You 2 are excellent I freaking love you guys. Ever since I started watching this channel I'm constantly bugging my daughter to play on her violin. That is to say I always ask if I can play her violin
Still forgetting to turn the lights on. Tsk tsk
Thank you for keeping me motivated to keep practicing! I picked up the violin because of your channel. On an unrelated note... Where is Eddy's jacket from?? I want one lol.
I started watching this, literally paused it when Eddie said pause this video right now and then come back. I went and practiced (not saying for how long). Thank you for all the reminders to practice, I wouldn't have begun playing piano again if it weren't for you two!
I play piano and classical guitar and I find it very hard to read tabs with guitar but luckily classical guitar is all with sheet music. Tabs are certainly more restrictive and with sheet music you can read it like a sentence and visualise the ups and down in the music to be able to make a musical sentence. With tabs you play it in one way but with sheet you music you can play the same note in different places on the fretboard and it can affect your tone where you play so sheet music all the way. I imagine I am a bit biased to sheet music as that is what I learned with the piano.
Who are you and what have you done with Twoset!? They would NEVER apologize for viola joke, let alone say that we NEED them!
Lol I think this is the first time they've apologized for a viola joke 😂😂 and I thought it was funny

I started playing by ear, too. I found reading sheet music very hard, and could only do it at 17 years old. Now I combine reading and intuition, and it's the best - especially when improvising (I sweat more when I have to read, in fact... ;)

Twoset uploaded! The day's saved!!!
The fact that TwoSet explains music theory better than my music teacher is still wild to me. Three years with music on A, but I've learned more by watching these two.
Hi eddy and Brett! I also play the violin, been watching u guys since 2018 and you guys inspired me to also play the violin. During your world tour this year, could you please come to Taiwan? :)))))
I've been playing violin for a few months now (played some as a kid, inspired by Twoset to try again as an adult). I've played a few songs from sheet music, but I've been trying to learn & play one without music - just by ear. It's pretty hard, especially trying to remember fingering and everything.
Keep at it. Eventually you will reach a point where you just “know” where to place your fingers to get the notes you need while playing. Both on keyboard and on violin I used to try to memorize which notes followed which and doing it that way was so stressful. What helped me was just listening to the song over and over in my head and then being relaxed enough so that as I played the song in my head and a few notes at a time, I eventually didn’t need to memorize which key followed which or which finger position followed which: the song in my head dictated what I needed to do. It takes time, but you’ll get there. I’ve been playing violin for almost two years and it is indeed a difficult instrument, but so satisfying when you do something well.
@@PalKrammer Thanks for the tips!
You guys have worked really hard recently :>
Thanks for brightening my evening ✨✨
For the love of LingLing please come to Chicago. I don't live there but it's close enough for me to attend the concert.
my guitar teacher advocated for the use of tablature, but he also drilled learning sheet music into my head (i already knew how, but different instrument different ways). it's just that tab specifies the note because there can be a hundred different ways to play the same note/chord on a guitar.
Happy international bagpipes day, everyone!
That "guide to time signatures" meme really tough me more than 3 years of band class. ._.
I just started learning to play the violin and I love to watch your videos! 🫶🫶
If a key has a certain number of sharps or flats, it's sharp/flat version has the remainder from 7. This is how i learned it:
Dmaj = 2 sharps, Db maj = 5 flats
E maj = 4 sharps, Eb maj = 3 flats
Fmaj = 1 flat, F# maj = 6 sharps
G maj = 1 sharp, Gb maj = 6 flats
Amaj = 3 sharps, Ab maj = 4 flats
Bmaj = 5 sharps, Bb maj = 2 flats
Cmaj = no sharps, C# maj = 7 sharps
The plane one... One time the guy at airport security asked my sister to remove the strings from her violin if she wanted to get through security... And then all the crap to get in the USA with a bow that has real ivory on it.
