I am beyond hyped for this. What a cool surprise. Metroidvanias are by far my favorite, and the GameCube Prince of Persia games were a staple of my teenage years. I can’t wait to play, and I can’t wait to see you make a Completion video for it!

It drives me crazy when 'fans' complain about a game just based on the trailer. Like no wonder so many companies don't want to touch their old franchises.
When I say this trailer, I was BEYOND excited. Like I enjoyed the series back then, especially the reboot of 2008, and seeing this had me hyped. Defnitely don't sleep on PoP here. He deserves the comeback
To those still asking where sands of time is no this isn’t replacing it but last month it was announced development started from square one again and I have no idea why they’re struggling with it
Would be cool if you could end the mirror version boss fight in seconds by putting away your sword. Because if the fight is anything like previous mirror bosses in the series, that's the secret.
I certainly didnt expect one of the most hype games for me coming out of Summer Games Fest to be a Prince of Persia game. But here we are.
The hate seems to be entirely from music choice, just like with Warrior Within. If they took two seconds and looked at the game, it looks like a blast. I don't have much faith in Ubi, but this doesn't look bad at all.
I think some of it is that's not the Sands of Time remake.

Thank you a lot Completionist! All the hate this game got seemed very unwarranted. Nice to see someone who gave it a fair chance discover there is a lot of genuine fun to be had.
I was beyond hyped when I saw the reveal at the Summer Game Fest, but when I saw the general consensus in different comment sections of The Lost Crown later, it kinda downed me ngl. That said, now I am really happy knowing there are a lot of people here who are still really excited for this game and I’m also really glad you enjoyed your time with it too.
This looks really good. As someone who loved Sands of Time and still liked its sequels, it's great to see the franchise back at all, but even better with a game that looks polished.

I still loved it though. And the environments were really good.
I just wish the ending hadnt been put on DLC. I never played it.
I felt like I was on a different planet with this announcement. So many people were upset, but I really liked what I saw. Outside of a couple things like Mario + Rabbids, all we really get from Ubisoft these days is massive map marker based open worlds. It got me pretty hyped to see them working on a Metroidvania, one of my favorite genres.

I feel like this channel is the different planet. Any other channel covering this game has been bombarded with dislikes and negative comments, but Jirard seems to be immune.
@@alxjones As far as I know, Jirard is the only RUclipsr I follow whose had hands on experience with the game. Can the same be said for the other content creators you've seen cover this game?
A different type of content from Completionist, but I'm totally sold on this game. A little heavy-handed in the pitch to the viewer, but I've watched Jirard long enough to know when that excitement is genuine :)
Shocked this is coming. I was hoping for a more Sands of Time-style game but it looks like it's going to be fun still. I've been a fan of Prince of Persia since getting a port for the Game Boy Colour but then the PS2. Thanks for posting this, Jirard!
Now that I looked at this game clearly. I actually starting to like this a lot. It’s fun and the combat and platforming is super fun. It really has that Metroid design of gameplay in it. This is definitely a good comeback of the POP series.
I even mistakenly thought of the main character as the prince. He’s a warrior rescuing him. That Manticore boss fight is epic.
Yeah, the Manticore, an actual monstrr from Iranian/Persian mythology is here and we are now in an Acheamenid-inspired Persia...finally we are going back to the literally roots here.
Also the animation and gameplay is so flashy, it really breaks time and space in the most literal sense...Also Sargon looks dope, finally more near-eastern characters, they were sorely lacking for a while and now another one as been added here finally.
This is going to flop in no way at all and it's rightfully going to be the success Ubisoft wants.
All the outrage will harm the game as much as the sequel trilogy outrage, the Valhalla outrage and the Mario movie outrage harmed their success...they did not and were super successful.
Let's a go Prince of Persia and shine again...may your loved ones be saved once again!
Glad to see Prince of Persia be back. I loved that trilogy Ubisoft released and this sounds like a blast to me.
Finally some positive energy for this game. It looks sick and everyone has been dogging on it for no reason. A friend of mine straight up said "it doesn't look like prince of Persia"

I really dont understand all the hate the trailer got. People seemed to mostly be complaining that the rap music didn't fit and that it's 2d which is just dumb imo

This is my most anticipated game from all the showcases. The inspiration from Metroid Dread seems obvious but from what your saying Hollow Knight must be another. I cant wait for the developet interview. Lets hope it has a physical.

With the emphasis in wall-running and the character wielding two long swords it reminded me a lot of the 2D version of Warrior Within, just that this time the protag is wearing the classic blue-ish clothes instead of red-ish like in WW... and no edgyness thankfully :P
i haven't played a prince of persia game since the original in the 90s and this seems like the game that's gonna draw me back

I've only ever played Sands of Time however long ago that was, but I'm very down to have another excuse to jump into another metroidvania
I remember Sands of Time being the first puzzle game I ever beat, and now when I see an environmental puzzle I immediately think of it.
This game looks like Metroid Dread meets God of War and I think it looks neat.

Oh this looks great. As someone who did play the original game way back when and loves a Metroidvania this is going straight on my wish list.

I'm abstaining from Ubisoft titles, and it hasn't been hard since the only thing I would even deign to play from them recently is Kingdom Battle (and I haven't even finished the first one)... well I guess now they've finally made something I'll have to seriously hold myself back from, because this looks dope as hell.

Bad music in the trailer aside, I’m so glad this game exists. I’d so much rather have this than some generic Ubisoft open world game. If this is even half as good as Rayman Legends, it’s gonna be great.

I don't love the visual style or 2.5D, but I understand that's what Ubisoft needs to do in order to hook their core audience. I'm a big Metroidvania fan, and after watching this video I'm actually pretty hyped for this game, where I had expected to just skip it based on the trailer.

I actually thought this was decent at the Xbox show, and seen it was multi platform, even better, I noticed the callback being side scrolling, looks good, I'm sure they're polishing it right now.

I'm really down to go back a bit to the roots of the series. I'm down for this. Sounds a little bit like Double Helix's Strider game and that was a great Metroidvainia.

I want to be abundantly clear to Ubisoft: the only reason this game is now on my Metroidvania radar is thanks to Jirard. Whoever on your marketing team thought it would be a good idea to grant the Completionist and the TOVG crew a sneak preview is a smart, smart cookie.
Normally Ubisoft's name automatically takes something off my radar, but this? This has my attention.

just finished hollow knight so when i saw the reveal trailer i thought that the gameplay looked great! havent played any prince of persia games tho so i didnt have preconcieved notions of what the next prince of Persia game should look like.

Honestly, at a glance it does little to remind me of the old Prince of Persia Games, looks like way more focus on Action Combat. It still looks incredible and I am looking forward to see how the full Game will turn out

Overall, I'm happy they didn't just turn prince of persia into ubisoft open world tm like they did to everything else.
Well only Watch Dogs and Ghost Recon are open world. Not like they have a history or turning their IP open world.

I'm kind of torn with this game. On the one hand, I love side-scrolling metroidvanias and the gameplay looks really good. On the other hand, I'm tired of these endless reboots of PoP. I wish Ubisoft would just settle on one vision for the franchise and stick with it.
If this game had tighter and a more realistic art direction like Metroid Dread, it likely would have been received more warmly. The game’s art direction right now look like a mix of Fortnite and Overwatch. The art design will definitely help with ready enemy attack and environmental cues. Metroidvanias are on a renaissance so I’m hoping it is good.
While i wish i was playing as the actual prince... this looks AWESOME. The combat system is everything i want in 2D brawler/ platformer.
