  • On this day I went for a hike and left my cameras behind which was unfortunate because I saw two Gila Monsters and multiple Rattlesnakes. Oh well!
The point of today was to capture some audio using the Sonic Presence SP15 Pro Binaural Microphones as well as the Rycote HC-22 shotgun microphone. I use the Rycote Nanoshield windshield and windjammer for extra wind protection and it works great.
Please note I am NOT a dedicated audio guy or field recording. I'm just starting out on this journey.
I love gathering the ambient sound with the binaural mics from Sonic Presence and then more direction sound and dialogue with the Rycote mic. I find this mixes into a track pretty nicely. I was able to pick up some very cool hummingbird sounds and a rattlesnake!
The day didn't go quite as I expected and there weren't as many sounds to capture but it was a great day out and a nice 8 mile hike. One thing to note with the Sonic Presence microphones is that you want to link these a stereo pair in your recorder or they will not function as intended.
