I just picked up the DJI Mic 2 w/ internal 32 bit float. It has a mic input in the TX modules that provide plugin power. Combined with the Rode Video Mic Go II, not a bad light weight setup! Probably sounds great with an NTG. I love the sound you capture, esp the bull elk bugles! Thanks for making such awesome content!
@HarryCollinsPhotography yeah, I don't want to have to worry about it, but it adds much more! I picked up the Rode mic in your video ti use shooting wild horses last night, but that wind was to much for most of it. So far seems pretty nice.
Any chance you would do a video showing common settings on mics? I know every environment is going to require different settings, but thoughts on common issues to overcome or general newbie information.
It's easier straight out of camera yes, because you can do more adjustments onboard the mic. I prefer the rode overall these days as its very high quality and easier to use in my opinion.
Hello, thank you for your interesting insights! The footage is great, and the sound is realistic. I have a question: For the Zoom F3 and MKE600, what gain setting do you choose to achieve such detailed sound at a distance? Thank you!
I got the exact same question. Everytime I record I seem to get self noice from the microphone that can not be edited out (at least not in audacitys noice cancellation). And if I do not have enough gain, it becomes too low in volume. And if you turn the volume up in post (you guessed it), more self noice! So no matter what I do, the self noice is there. I have the Sennheiser 600 just like him, connected to my camera. I will try to connect it to my sound device mix pre 3 and turn up the gain there next (to avoid using the camera preamp as much, I have heard that the camera preamp can mess things up). I did that once and got self noice, but then I had another microphone
Can you stick the MKE 600 straight to F3 without the cable, correct? How is the battery life of F3 if the MKE 600 runs on battery; so does not need phantom power? Because with the phantom power on I've read somewhere the F3 puts out only 1.5 hrs of battery life with alkaline and 4.5 with rechargable. So interesting would be how long can you record without 48V into the MKE 600. Thanks!!
@@HarryCollinsPhotography thanks man, im trying to find the rode videomic pro on ebay now, so many different ones to choose from and many say GO on them, so its frustrating to find the one you use
Standard video production mics are over a thousand dollars. $300 is budget for what I’m talking about for PROFESSIONAL wildlife. $100 mics are going to give you many headaches in a lot of cases.
“Budget” is a relative term. My PC set up cost me roughly $10k, I would consider $3k a budget PC set up. For most that would be considered expensive. It’s all dependent on what you’re willing to spend and what the overall price range is for the product. A “budget” old Lamborghini Gallardo is gonna run you atleast $85k-$100k which is 1.9% the cost of a brand new Veneno. You’re not gonna find a Lamborghini for “$50. 100 max.”

First time viewer. I am stunned at the incredible audio and video quality of your work. Fantastic.
Thank you so much!
Thank for taking the time. Audio is one of the things I have slacked at and it is time to get better with it.
I often get lazy with audio myself, but it makes all the difference!

Seeing that gear out on the water kinda makes me anxious. Amazing captures. That's some gorgeous environment you have there.

Amazing ❤! Harry U r able to capture the utmost beautiful sounds of wildlife. 😮🙏💯
Brilliant shots and sound. Thanks for sharing.
Thank you!
I've said this a thousand times but I could listen to an elf bugling all day long and never tire.
I hope you are making a living doing that outdoor stuff cause you are GOOD!
Thank you! :)
very informative Video!. Thanks for it. and your Videos with Sounds of wild nature are rellay super!!!
Great video. Do you feel the Rode's audio performance is better than the MKE600?

Hey Harry, i record the same way. Though I have a Zoom h5. I really enjoy your videos! Greg
Thought about getting one of those
thanks for the video, what settings do you use on the rode mic pro plus for recording the nature sounds? thanks
Love also my MKE 600 - such good sound quality. thought about Stereo recording but acutally i don't see the absolut need for separate stereo channels.
What about the Sennheiser mke 400? Is it to short for Wildlife?

Thank u sir, i appreciate ur input... I love ur work❤❤❤❤❤
I'm glad you enjoyed it.
Thank you your video helps a lot i think i will start with the rode
It’s my favorite of the 2 honestly
Since they're essentially the same price, which one do you recommend if using straight to camera? Thank you! Just found your page and I'm in awe.
Even though the MKE is a better quality mic I find myself using the rode more. It’s very underrated and has on board adjustments for gain, etc…
Love the sounds of that loon
hey, thanks for your video.
At what range were the animals from the mic when you recorded your examples please ?
They all vary. Some were close, some of the elk were 75 yards award.

i looked into this myself i thnk its too wide max width you can use is 19mm like a rode ntg5
Motorised duck with lav mic in its beak? I never watched the vudeo
Czy mke600 podłączasz bezpośrednio do zoom f3?

300 bucks is not "budget". Budget would mean around 50. 100 max.
