i would love to see a model series like this which keeps the same scale between all the models. (i don't expect to see a borg cube out of that series :P ) also perhaps with a solid resin cast to prevent seam lines where possible.
I'm definitely looking forward to this one. I actually have a Saratoga from 1990's Micro Machines, but it was more like the Lantree; it didn't have the weapons bar or the sensor pods.
Love the Saratoga really hope they make the USS Bozeman soyuz class
Hi Irishtrekkie. Thanks for the video. I was wondering if you know if they were bringing out a model of Starbase 1? (In case I have the name wrong the mushroom station from the TOS movies and TNG) Thanks.
I really like that the mold for the Saratoga is difderent. Not much, but more accurate than the Reliant. Shows me, that the people at Eaglemoss (Ben?) still care.
Even if the Nacelles are a bit of a letdown and that one moissing panel line on the top of the Saucer is really buggeng me.
Really looking forward to her, when she arrives here in Germany in roughly 2 years. ;)
They definitely used a new mold for the Saratoga. You can see that the panels on the saucer section are slightly different, plus the pimples going around it. They don't have that on the Reliant. Very disappointing about the nacelles with the lack of plastic pieces. Did the make the stand any better? I know I've had to be extra careful moving the Reliant because it doesn't stay on it's stand very well. Another great review Irish Trekkie. Thank you
The stand is much more secure. At least mine is. Though again the ship's nacelle's shouldn't glow. That's a invention of the CGI model of the Miranda class from 6th season DS9. The reliant shouldn't have it either, but they used the CGI file for a reference, thus why the Reliant's nacelle's glow.
Ok folks...from the interior onscreen appearances we have seen of this Saratoga, why would a Vulcan Captain be named Martin Jedlicka? I'm confused unless he had human foster/adoptive parents. The little details...
The plastic in the Relient looks better and is when the models were cheaper. It probably cost less to paint in those details and they had raised the prices by the time Saratoga was in production increasing their profit margins.
Oh man, after over a year my Ent-B arrived in the mail. Looks like Canada is hopefully back on mailing list.
Thanks! I look forward to this one.
Looks great, too bad theres no plastic pieces in the nacelles. Reliant looks good next to it, my only thing with the clear blue plastic on the Reliant is that it technically should only be on the inboard side and outside grills should be black as well as the intercoolers. But any who enough technical babbling, both good ships and i look forward to getting the Saratoga.
Nice review once again. One criticism though, the lighting is very harsh and oversaturates the video
Looks like it has X-Wing blasters on the sensor pods.
Very good review ,the uss Saratoga model is 10 out 10 ,I hope they do the uss bozemon ,will be picking up my lovely USS Saratoga tommorow ,the medusan ship will be interesting also 😀
Can the Saratoga use the Reliant mount and vice versa?
Getting this for sure. Nice review IT.
Hi irish trekkie ,when is your next review of the lovely mudusan ship ?😎
The model I have had the most issue with has been the Curry.
I don't understand the complaints about the nacelles not using clear plastic to reflect a glowing engine nacelle. The Reliant's nacelle's were wrong. They shouldn't have glowed. The original model of the Reliant and thus every variation up to when they switched to a CGI build for the Miranda in DS9 6th season, didn't glow. After the start off the 6th season the CGI build including a glowing effect for the nacelles.
Since Eaglemoss used the CGI file for their template of the Reliant, they included in error clear plastic to reflect glowing nacelles. That was an error.
The Saratoga corrects this error. It's the more accurate reflection of the model of the ship.
Just as the Excelsior shouldn't have glowing nacelles. That was added when the Excelsior needed to make an appearance in Voyager's Flashback episode. As the physical modeled been permanently changed to make it the Enterprise B. Greg Jein had to make a new, smaller model (one easier to film as well) an he added glowing effects to the engines. Those were also included once a CGI file was created for the ship, roughly the same period of DS9.
Pretty much the rule of thumb is glowing nacelles became a part of Trek when TNG started and all new models created (not redressed models) feature a glowing nacelle effect. Be it alien ships and Federation ships. We see it on the new models off the Constellation, The Ambassador, The Nebuula, The Hope, Defiant's, Runabouts, almost all new shuttles (minus the really small ones), Akira, Steamrunner, Nova, Prometheus, eat, ect..
And anytime they built a new model of an existing design they added that glow effect.
8:17 isnt that where the Borg hit the Saratoga?
It would've more amusing if it was the Reliant model and not the Saratoga whose port warp nacelle was loose instead. :P
By the way, that 4k is ridiculous!
Very good Video with Nice quality 👍😀
Tariq Mosh Agreed! Can't buy that one, though. Too many kids happening through my domicile.
This Issue is so disapoint me (Nacelles no light efects) ,Reliant looks far beyond better in my opinion
4703A/A reliant was issue 11 not a big fan this class of ship like the nova and the Prometheus class ships but model good and book was a good read.
Scratching my head, but why couldn't they keep the translucent nacels. Why do they screw up a good thing for gods sakes, repaint, reposition, and repeat. Don't change anything BEN. That aquamarine blue sucks.
They shouldn't have had them on the Reliant. The Miranda's didn't get a glow effect until they started using the CGI model off the ship right around Favor the Bold in the 6th season of DS9.
Excelsior model didn't get them until they built a smaller 3 foot model for Voyager's Flashback. Neither the 1701-B or any of the earlier uses of the Excelsior model should have plastic to reflect glowing nacelles.
Glowing nacelles were really a creation of modern Trek starting with new models on TNG and moving forward.
Saratoga is actually more accurate in this regard then the Reliant is.
❤😊
Saratoga was a real ship ans the type was an aircraft carrier in WW2
I have 2769-A/A and you have 3016-A/A.
