Great explanation! I am a PA and never had the concept for grading explained in this manner.
I just had a really weird fall today where my foot was flexed as in a ballerina's pointe. As I fell ,on the stairs, my right leg slipped and flew in the air... in attempt to save myself from the fall, I placed my left foot down one stair below with the ball of my feet but since my right leg was flying in the air and i was falling forward and down I instead landed with the top of my toes laying on the stair and all my weight fell onto that leg. Ultimately that caused my foot to over flex to the point that I heard a loud pop. I wanted to inform myself on types of sprains their degrees, potentially damaged ligaments, and the severity of my situation before seeing a doc. This was extremely helpful. I followed the location of the pain from the fibula to the talus. Thats the only ligament that hurts... its not extremely painful and I can walk with a slight limp and placing more weight onto my ankle's medial side. I am still going to get it checked out just in case. Anyways, just sharing my story and appreciation for your great video!
This shit hurts I tell ya
Are you ok now lol

I work in the ER I sprained my own ankle grade 2. Easy to understand thank you as I see this all the time at work.

I’m a cheerleader like a competitive cheerleader and we do a lot of tumbling and stunting and since I’m a base I lift the flyer and it puts a lot of weight on my ankles and I was tumbling one day and got injured doing a tumbling pass (both ankles) and my coach carried me out of the gym (I was balling it was very embarrassing) and my mom took me to the ER (she is a nurse in the military) I was diagnosed with grade 2 sprains on both of my ankles. I was on crutches for 3 weeks I put pressure on my right ankle because it seemed to hurt less when I was at the ER. Post 6 weeks from my injury I was cleared to go back to cheer (with an ankle brace on both ankles) eventually my left ankle was strong enough to do cheer without an ankle brace 6 months after. It is now been over a year and my right ankle (the one that I put weight on when I was in crutches) what should I do? Is this normal or should I ask my mom to take me to the doctor?
I’m also a cheerleader and I’m a flyer, long story short they dropped me from extension and I landed on my ankle and it’s pretty messed up. On the bright side I have it on video and you can hear the pop
Yes go back to the doctor it might have healed wrong. Might need surgery
I sprained my left ankle three weeks ago, I’ve taken my ankle support off but it still hurts a little, I thought sprained ankles healed within 5 days - 2 weeks? Idk it’ll be fine haha.
Sprains (depending on severity) take 2-6 weeks to heal
1st week is focused on R.I.C.E.
Rest
Ice
Compression
Elevate
Longer is worse before walking & stretching it again to help encourage healing
Rule of thumb is rest as much as possible & if it hurts then rest
I've had multiple sprains with the last being the worst & it takes forever to heal
how can i look at my injury and grade it?
Usman JJ X-ray
@@JessJess347 what? x-ray?
You mean MRI.... how did you get four likes
When I press , I feel little pain in front of fibula and much severe pain below fibula {middle one} . Just twisted my ankle now its swollen. What should I do?
