I remember seeing the original "The Fog" back in the day as a VHS rental back in the 80s, loved it ! ...some months back (based on John from Mondo Chelloveck Movies recommendation) I got hold of the 4K and watched it again (first time since the 80s) and was not disappointed ...it was even better than I remembered and with the updated 4K disk, large OLED (I have the same Sony model as you) and decent audio...wow, what a movie ! I wouldn't have gone near that remake in a million years ! ;-) I know I've seen R.I.P.D. but I honestly don't remember any of it...which tells me that it was instantly forgettable (for me) but it was great to see your face light up when you started describing how much you enjoyed it ! 🙂 "Smile" looks interesting though...thanks for the recommendation...I definitely want to check that one out !
I have to admit when it comes to John over at Mondo he will never steer you wrong. I trust every word that comes out of his mouth and great to hear that you ended up picking up the 4K release and thankfully it lived up to what John said about it. It always does. You also have the same model television as John because he has the same television as myself. When it comes to the remake itself I honestly don't know what to tell you other than to stay away from it. It's a horrible remake. I kind of had a feeling there wouldn't be too many fans of RIPD. It's one of them movies maybe it was because my expectations were so low that I inevitably found enjoyment from it. There must be a bit of a fan base out there for it because they wouldn't have brought out a 4K release if there wasn't. I've met a few on the comment section tonight so it's great that I'm not alone on that one. Smile is probably one of the best horror movies I've seen in the last couple of years and I absolutely recommend checking it out. Honestly I think you'll be blown away by it. Oh Keith definitely agree with the Fog, straight in the bin. There was another few bad ones even recently, firestarter and children of the corn (might be a prequel) I saw smile with atmos and was sometimes some nice creepy sounds around and ambient sounds.

There is no question Rob zombie's Halloween will be in that top 10. I think prom night will also feature in it and if the video does well I might actually consider doing my top 10 favorite remakes. You could have the likes of John Carpenters The Thing and the blob to name a few
I know not too many people will agree with both of us but I find my own setup to be the best viewing experience when it comes to movies like this and it's why I don't often go to the cinema myself. It would have to take something very special. Great to hear I'm not the only one that's like that

I have the Evil Dead remake, an "Extended" version on blu ray from France. It has beautiful picture quality. - But I really should get your 4K. As for Dawn OTD, I haven't had time to watch my copy on standard blu ray (Shout! Factory), but I once played our Australian release Blu ray and the picture quality was stunning. I will be getting these 2 upgrades asap -thanks for pointing them out Keith👍👍
Like I said in the video The Evil Dead remake Blu-ray looks already phenomenal and the 4K does look better but don't be expecting a drastic leap. Dawn of the Dead looks absolutely extraordinary on 4k especially when you compare it to the old Blu-ray edition I have of it. I’m a big Evil Dead fan, I can remember going the cinema with my mates to watch the original back in the day. I will definitely be picking up the 4K of this one. As for The Fog I totally agree with you, it should have been called The Bog 😁
I never had the luxury of seeing the evil Dead in the cinema and I'm hoping someday I will have the opportunity to do so. I'm such a fan of the movie and even though this remake doesn't hit The Heights of the original it's still a fantastic remake and it's the best it's ever looked. I think the less I say about the fog the better. Or like you said the bog where it belongs
Laughed my ass off when you reviewed The Fog. I watched it when it came out all those years ago and thought exactly what you said and still trying to claim that time back from my life. It's a shame also about The Usual Suspects 4k, I'll stick with my standard bluray instead, so thanks for the heads up. I finally bought the Monsterverse steelbook collection & Mad Max steelbook collection for 1/2 price each from Zavvi at £40 & £50 respectively as they (as of writing ) are having a steelbook clearout. I rewatched your reviews on them & glad of my purchase. I'm also looking forward to my Superman 4k steelbook collection to arrive next week & looking forward to your review, if you get them. Like I said in the video damn my curiosity because I really shouldn't have went near that fog movie. If anything it was worse on the second viewing. Never seen crap quite like it. I am so happy to hear that you picked up the MonsterVerse and Mad Max editions and to get them at such incredible prices really is the cherry on top. I think both of them look fantastic and the great news is every single movie on 4k look remarkable. I've actually just started the monsterverse collection last night and Godzilla looked astonishing and the Dolby Atmos soundtrack is one of the best out there. You are going to be ecstatic when you get them through the door. I have pre-ordered the Superman collection and normally when it comes to Steelbook collections like this i sometimes hold off and wait for a price drop but I couldn't do it on this edition. Like I said in the video if you can get it on 4K for cheap enough I think you'll be very happy with what you see. Bear in mind my expectations were very low for it and thankfully it wasn't near as bad as I thought it was going to be. Give it a go and see what you think.

I actually liked the Evil Dead remake. Its been awhile since I watched it, but remember it had some god gore going on. I think I watched it around the same time I watched Cabin In The Woods.
The Evil Dead remake is probably one of my favorite remakes of all time. It feels very different to the original but they also stuck true to the source material and that's all you can ask for when it comes to a remake. Cabin in the Woods is another great movie that I really enjoyed and I need to revisit that movie because it's been a while. Thanks for putting that into my head

I know HD movie source can be very expensive. But I promise you if you actually reach out to these people they will actually look after you. None of their prices are set in stone. I find them to be a very handy outlet when it comes to one or two Editions that you simply can't get over here like my recent John wick edition that I got.

Harry Potter is one of them franchises where you have to be in the mood to watch them and the matrix is very similar as well. Both are great franchises but you have to heavily invest into them

As much as I enjoyed the movie Jeff Bridges can be rather distracting. Thankfully with the 4K release it's not as bad in terms of audio but it is still hard sometimes to understand what he's saying

Evil Dead was a great remake, same as Dawn of the Dead, they did them justice. Keith I couldn't agree with you more, what the hell were they thinking when they remade the Fog. The took a classic, one of my all time favourite horror films and shit on it from a great height. In my my mind this remake doesn't exist. I don't understand why RIPD was hated so much, I thought it was a fun film. Smile is an original movie, I really liked this one, very creepy. I can't comment on Pray for the Devil, I haven't seen it. I remember leaving the theater, after watching the cinematic insult, that was The Fog “remake,” and feeling ANGRY. It was such an insult, and slap in the face, that I haven’t been able to bring myself to give it another chance. It simply shouldn’t exist. I also remember being a bit disappointed with John Carpenter at the time, as he made the comment: “You want to write me a check for the remake rights? Absolutely! Knock yourself out, I couldn’t care less how it turns out..” Of course, it’s his full right to say, but you always kinda hope that he treasures his films in the way that we do. I fully agree Keith: WORST REMAKE I HAVE EVER SEEN.
I cannot stress how much I agree with everything you said in this comment. I was downright offended by John Carpenter at the time when he actually said that. He made it sound like he did not give two s**** about any of his movies. As for the movie itself it's an absolute joke. I can't find one positive thing to say about it. Why would these women even spend money on going to the cinema if they're not even watching the movie, but instead just talking all of the time? Yes, Double Jeopardy is indeed a fantastic movie. I've seen it for the first time somewhere last year and really enjoyed it. I plan on picking up the 4k Blu-ray as well.

Like I said in the video damn my curiosity because I really shouldn't have went near that fog movie. If anything it was worse on the second viewing. Never seen crap quite like it.
I am so happy to hear that you picked up the MonsterVerse and Mad Max editions and to get them at such incredible prices really is the cherry on top. I think both of them look fantastic and the great news is every single movie on 4k look remarkable. I've actually just started the monsterverse collection last night and Godzilla looked astonishing and the Dolby Atmos soundtrack is one of the best out there. You are going to be ecstatic when you get them through the door.
I have pre-ordered the Superman collection and normally when it comes to Steelbook collections like this i sometimes hold off and wait for a price drop but I couldn't do it on this edition. I cannot wait to get my hands on it just like yourself and rest assured I will definitely be doing a review on it.

They made R.I.P.D. 2 so I guess the movie was not that bad despite not being a box office hit on cinemas
I don't know if I can bring myself to watch that sequel. I think I will wait for reviews before doing anything. Hopefully it will be a pleasant surprise

Like I said in the video if you can get it on 4K for cheap enough I think you'll be very happy with what you see. Bear in mind my expectations were very low for it and thankfully it wasn't near as bad as I thought it was going to be. Give it a go and see what you think.

I actually liked the Evil Dead remake. Its been awhile since I watched it, but remember it had some god gore going on. I think I watched it around the same time I watched Cabin In The Woods.
The Evil Dead remake is probably one of my favorite remakes of all time. It feels very different to the original but they also stuck true to the source material and that's all you can ask for when it comes to a remake. Cabin in the Woods is another great movie that I really enjoyed and I need to revisit that movie because it's been a while. Thanks for putting that into my head

Hey Kevin. Dawn of the Dead is definitely up there as one of my favorite remakes and the 4K transfer that it got on this release is truly jaw-dropping. I have never seen such fine detail and not just that the colors look absolutely extraordinary. Trust me when I say you will be happy when you get it

Thanks for the video. A question I keep meaning to ask - what’s the deal with HD Movie Source? Their prices seem incredibly high to me, compared to (for example) WOW HD. But they are often recommended - am I missing something? All the best
I know HD movie source can be very expensive. But I promise you if you actually reach out to these people they will actually look after you. None of their prices are set in stone. I find them to be a very handy outlet when it comes to one or two Editions that you simply can't get over here like my recent John wick edition that I got.

No surprise to hear that Tom Welling wasn't a fan of this movie and I don't think much of the cast would have anything positive to say about it. It's a horrible horrible remake and I honestly don't know why I bought it on Blu-ray. I should have just left it alone. I think you're gonna love smile on 4k. It's a beautiful looking transfer. i also thought dawn of the dead looked great on 4k uhd and prey for the devil looks interesting i just picked up the exorcist 3 on 4k uhd but I haven't watched it just yet.

I thought it looked incredible in 4K. Great detail and colour, particularly in the dark scenes.

Hey Jeff. Your absolutely correct whatever it is with horror and 4K it just seems to be incredibly consistent in terms of quality and pray for the devil and smile are examples of that. Definitely check out pray for the Devil because I had a fun time with it and I think you might enjoy it yourself.

Nightmare on Elm Street is definitely up there with the Fog. I'm actually starting to think it wouldn't be a bad video to do a top 10 worst remakes. I probably could do 20

Harry Potter is one of them franchises where you have to be in the mood to watch them and the matrix is very similar as well. Both are great franchises but you have to heavily invest into them

It's nowhere near as good as the original but it's something very different and I'm always saying that when it comes to remakes try to make them as different as you can but stay truthful to the source material and that's exactly what you get with that movie. As much as I enjoyed the movie Jeff Bridges can be rather distracting. Thankfully with the 4K release it's not as bad in terms of audio but it is still hard sometimes to understand what he's saying

Also, I had the same experience in the cinema but with someone flashing their I-phone every single minute.
It's probably one of the reasons to why I don't go to the cinema to often. I find that I have more unpleasant experiences than good. It would take something very special for me to go to cinema nowadays. For example I will definitely be seeing Evil Dead rise and the latest Indiana Jones movie. Both other than them two I can't think of another movie so far this year that I will go to. I will definitely keep an eye out for your live stream and see what pickups you got yourself. Evil Dead was a great remake, same as Dawn of the Dead, they did them justice. Keith I couldn't agree with you more, what the hell were they thinking when they remade the Fog. The took a classic, one of my all time favourite horror films and shit on it from a great height. In my my mind this remake doesn't exist. I don't understand why RIPD was hated so much, I thought it was a fun film. Smile is an original movie, I really liked this one, very creepy. I can't comment on Pray for the Devil, I haven't seen it. Will have to check it out. Double Jeopardy is another I need to check out.

I remember leaving the theater, after watching the cinematic insult, that was The Fog “remake,” and feeling ANGRY. It was such an insult, and slap in the face, that I haven’t been able to bring myself to give it another chance. It simply shouldn’t exist. I also remember being a bit disappointed with John Carpenter at the time, as he made the comment: “You want to write me a check for the remake rights? Absolutely! Knock yourself out, I couldn’t care less how it turns out..” Of course, it’s his full right to say, but you always kinda hope that he treasures his films in the way that we do. I fully agree Keith: WORST REMAKE I HAVE EVER SEEN.
I cannot stress how much I agree with everything you said in this comment. I was downright offended by John Carpenter at the time when he actually said that. He made it sound like he did not give two s**** about any of his movies. As for the movie itself it's an absolute joke. I can't find one positive thing to say about it. It really is a shame that John Carpenter put his name to this garbage. Unfortunately it wasn't the first time he done it. I am actually going to get rid of that movie because I don't want it in my collection. Yes, Double Jeopardy is indeed a fantastic movie. I've seen it for the first time somewhere last year and really enjoyed it. I plan on picking up the 4k Blu-ray as well.
I will never fully understand it myself and not just that but going to the cinema these days is not cheap and why you would spend that kind of money just so you can talk to your friend for an hour and a half.
