I left my church because of classism. We were treated poorly because we were extremely poor. What hurt me the most even now is the fact that these people discouraged my mother from sending me to high school because " she couldn't afford it". I should follow her yo do "days work" or sewing. My mom defied the odds and tried her best to send me to school. For me this is not or should not be the role of the church. I left the church but maintained a relationship with God. This relationship took me through the many obstacles during my educational journey. I still can't understand how I went through but God was with me.

I honestly love how transparent you guys are. It is so funny that the same set of people that welcome you to church are the same set to push you out when you don't see eye to eye with them. Alot of young people leave church because of criticism. Their growth in Christ sometimes threatens the older folks and so they begin to find fault with every you do.

Love this topic: I don’t live in Jamaica but one of the things we did as youth leaders in the past was to look for partnership with other churches. When a church is under resourced or they have smaller youth group it should be a priority to help build a bridge of connection. Community matters so much when competing with the vices of the world.

What I am about to say does not apply to all adults. However, I wish church mothers, fathers, aunt and uncle would be honest and open about their past youth lives. It would be so helpful to young people. Most times they act as if the mistakes that the youth are making they did not make them as well. Instead, they can share advise and counsel on how they overcame and forgetting to create a relationship with the youth. Also, as youth people we have to seek to cultivate a personal relationship with Christ, this will help us to be grounded.

I totally feel this topic you guys are speaking about, and I’m glad it’s being addressed on a wider scale. I’m one of the few youths that still attend my assembly, and in times I catch myself reminiscing of the times when I had my fellow peers there worshiping together. We were just on fire for God, but then when we started to be more active, more pressure came along as well as judgment of what to wear, what to say, and what to do. I totally understand what is being said when it’s sad to see the young people gone, because that’s how I feel every time I step back in my assembly, and wish we were back in those times when we were all together. But now I want to make the difference, and start calling the youth back and bring back up the ministry. I want the youth to remember who they are in Christ regardless what the saints may have to say about us. LET US LIVE FOR JESUS AND HIM ALONE. I want to keep the fire burning and become change. Please pray my strength because I had this thought for a while, and before I thought I wasn’t equipped to do it. But as long as I have the Lord on my side, I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me. Thank you for this video, keep on pushing out content that is not normally discuss in the church because the people NEED to hear this. God’s blessing on you both

Look, God knew how much I wanted a personal relationship with Him, He literally took me out and moved me to another country. Great comments. When I was a teen in church, the older generation fed us spiritually and socially while allowing us to grow and bring our gifts in the church...we did drama, outreach, sports, trips, etc.
As we grew, my generation, now 20s, reached back and nurtured the younger generation and mentored them. They in turn grew up and took our place as they became early 20s. They used their gifts, skills, talents, intellect ND even education to enhance the mission of the church and it was awesome.
That generation reached back and mentored the one coming behind. And they were invited to use their gifts, skills with technology and creativity to move the church forward.
I even spoke with many of the Gen Ys and Gen Zs. And I reminded them, that our church is very open to doing new things. Older members are not to up to date with new ways to do ministry that is why the church is open to let the youth use their Godly crerivities to do things differently.
When I was a youth in church, my Pastors let my generation do some cutting edge stuff that were a bit radical but within Biblucal guidelines. We broke away from tradition and the church stayed vibrant for decades. The generation after mine, did the same thing. They brought their creativity and shook things up and again, the church thrived.
Something happened after that. In speaking with the youth and reminding them that it's now their turn to implement new ideas of ministry, they were not interested. . I can't tell you how many of them I spoke with about changing the way we "do church." They just weren't interested in being a part of change..
Thankfully some stayed and they have changed the way ministry is done. But the vast majority are gone.
Another perspective is worthy of note..... all the reasons given in the video have always existed. I have personally experienced them. The reasons are real, but are not new.
There is another side worth considering also. When the world is more attractive than Jesus, we are drawn away.. just another side to consider.
People may be drawn back to church if it has a more secular feel that looks more like the world, but real transformation only occurs when Jesus alone is lifted up,...He draws men to Himself.
    Blessings fam

Number one point is so true and sad at the same time .
We have to remember as you both mentioned that wherever we go in this world (work, school etc) there will be judgement and hypocrisy, so if we can tolerate it at work because we need the money ,we can tolerate it at church in order to grow to the level we ought to as we are all imperfect beings working towards perfection.

Hello XyZ, I thank God for you two and for starting this channel. I love this topic and you are so correct about the two face and hypocrisy among church folks.. Some of the older saints and/ or seniors need to remember they weren't always save and need to keep it 💯 with the younger generation. Thank you! God bless you always. "Keep it real" Love it.

I really like your openness and the challenging topics that you guys are tackling. Praise God for you. While I agree with many of your points on this topic, I just want to add that some young people leave the church because they just want to. No matter what the church or their families do they wouldn’t stay. Also, some young people leave because of what’s happening or not happening in their Adventist homes and the church can’t be blamed for that. My point is, while the church holds some responsibility for some people leaving, it does not hold all the responsibility for all the people leaving. Great site, love the contents. God bless!

Listen mi nuh man!!! That part about the fluff of programs and unnecessary things is sooo true. I’ve always said this. I feel like the church is too rigid in trying to maintain the same “protocols” that serve no purpose just because “is suh wi always do it”.

    On point 💯
I agree on these points especially when there aren’t much persons at church and they wanna run it like the regular with 1 person doing 5 things. It’s burdensome and that’s when you start to think that the following week you are gonna go to the next church or u wanna do less things in church.

Amen young couple , maybe you and other like minded couples can help keep the younger ones in rhe church. Some of the older folks can be so hard hearted and stubborn. Forgetting they were once young.

  • @msjudah3755

The church has to teach these young people the truth...This generation is 7 times smarter then most elders in the church. In addition They’re “Awake” to the reality’s in this world.

Thank you so much for speaking extensively on this topic. I pray that the church will wakeup to the reality that the older Christians owe it as a responsibility to encourage the youth.
Love you both. Keep loving God.
God bless you and prosper His work in your hands in Jesus Name 🙏.
