Thank you Sarah, I appreciate it. I mainly use 12’s either the Martin MA540T or Martin Retros. Retros sound so good on a mahogany Martin guitar, and they are very reasonably priced.

I just subscribed you sound amazing, I am looking at this Streetmaster 000-15 and the new Streetmaster 000-16 have you looked into the new 000-16 Adirondack spruce top Martin
Thanks man! The only differences I’m aware of is that the StreetMaster has katalox fretboard and bridge instead of rosewood on the standard 000-15. Other than that they are identical except for the distressing.
Chris, I bought the 000-15m in large part because of the work you've done here. I couldn't be happier with my purchase. I've spent some time learning these parts youve composed and they're living on here in NC with me! What capo are you using here? The ones I have aren't fitting the neck profile of the Martin all that well. Take care!
I’m glad your enjoy my song and of course your new guitar! It’s a stunner. I use a Paige capo. They are great for keeping your guitar in tune when tightening it. Take care as well brother
Chis great video as usual. I would like that I know how you we ould compare/describe the differences between the 000-15 and the 000-15 streetmastet? I feel that although they are the same guitar, they sound different?
Thanks! There is a difference, but it’s slight. Even two 000-15’s can sound different. I know that Martin has changed what kind of mahogany type wood they have used over the years. They’ve used Honduran mahogany, Sipo, sapele and other variants too, I believe. But I think the biggest difference is age, this particular StreetMaster is about 5 years older than the 00015 I had, and the StreetMaster sounded much more dry and matured. Hope it makes sense :-)
Thank you! I love the 00 but the 000 is more versatile, and you’ll get a slightly fuller sound, so if it’s gonna be your only western, that’d be the one I’d recommend you getting. Video coming soon :-)
It’s a tie between the two, it comes down to what esthetics you like the most. They are so close spec-wise. StreetMaster uses katalox for fretboard and bridge, and 000-15 uses rosewood. That’s about it. I prefer the 12 fret 000-15SM of all Martin mahogany guitars I’ve tried.
Hi Zac It’s a tough question. I sold my 00-15m and bought a 000-15m and I haven’t regretted that at all. The 000-15 is a bit less money than the StreetMaster and it comes with a hard case - although the gig bag that comes with the StreetMaster looks great. A few years back they came in a thin padded flappy really bad one. You’ll get better balance with the 000 shape - but it all comes down to esthetics taking the 00-15 out of the equation. Hope that was somewhat helpful. Take care
So I bought a 000 15m. Do you offer tablature for your compositions? Teaching myself more finger style driven guitar as opposed to the strumming driven I’ve played most of my life. If not, could you point me in the direction of tab that is similar? Thanks!
That is very kind of you, thank you. It’s fairly simple - I may have stated the signal chain in the description, I’m not sure, so if not let me know :-)
Thank you very much Bill No preference in particular. I enjoy both materials equally. They both represent great flavors for different styles. I would give a slight edge to spruce for being perhaps a bit more versatile. But the Martin 000-15’s are incredibly instruments.
@@ChrisEffort Have you played the 15 series dreadnaughts? I am going to get a 15 series instrument. I play lefty and only fingerstyle. There are several lefty Streetmaster lefty instruments available, but they are either a D or DSS models. Would these models work as well as the 000-15 in a fingerstyle application? There is one 000-15M out there but not the Streetmaster and I prefer that finish without the pickguard if possible. I can wait if you think thew 000-15 is the way to go. Thanks, Bill
Love your vids. My hair drives me nuts too, but gotta keep it for the rockin’ vibes brooo. Got a question for you and your subscribers. I want to save up for a nice Martin. Ultimately want to end up with like 000-15M, 00-18, and a D28 (maybe even Modern Deluxe). Which one would you buy first? The one I want the most is probably the 00-18. But it’s tempting to just get the first one possible which is the 15 series.
Haha I feel ya Joe. I would probably go out and try all three and see which one speaks to you the most. They are all very different, but the most versatile would be the 000-15 or a 000-18. Any reason why you’d want a double O 18?
@@ChrisEffort I have a budget OM style guitar now and the size seems just fine. My thinking with the 00-18 is that since it’s a tad smaller and has a short scale, maybe it would be a nice daily driver, me being a smaller than average guy lol. You’re right for me to go play them because the 000-15m or 000-18 should meet my needs just fine, especially if I can only have one of them for a while. The playing and recording of your videos are really informative. The 00-15m, your new 000-15m and that Eastman E1D in particular. Thank you sir, keep up the beautiful work.
Hi Chris, I was wondering what your opinion was between this guitar, the traditional 000-15m and the sm version. I own the Streetmaster. Do you think the katalox bridge has a big effect on the tone of the Streetmaster?
Hi Jason I don’t think the difference is very noticeable - even to identical 000-15’s can sound different. The StreetMaster I loaned for the video was incredibly resonant and lively, and even with old and grimy strings it sounds beautiful.
@@ChrisEffort thanks for the response! Good point about 2 000-15s sounding different. When I was in the market I kept coming back to the Streetmaster. Something about it spoke to me
@@CaptainOfMyBurden82anytime bud. You can’t go wrong with either one. But I will say, to support your decision - my buddy’s StreetMaster is something pretty special. It’s from 2017 which probably helps a bit on the sound, but man it sounds fantastic. So loud, dry and responsive.
@@ChrisEffort well thanks for the words of affirmation! I’ve had mine about 2 years. I prefer a 1 3/4 nut but but you’re spot on! Chords sounds huge on it. Mine is really starting to open up.

Thanks!
Oh my god, please tell me what that tuning is in the first clip?!
All of the compliments are well deserved. Is the signal chain simple/complex? Thank you.
That is very kind of you, thank you.
It’s fairly simple - I may have stated the signal chain in the description, I’m not sure, so if not let me know :-)
@@ChrisEffort Yes, signal chain in extended description. Thank you
How different is the sound of this guitar in real life VS here with all the EQing and mixing?
Very close, if you read the description I explain it a bit.
Awesome video! Does this guitar still only come with a soft shell case?
Thanks Dan! Yeah I believe so. It’s a bit of a shame. I’d rather get a case with it. Especially considering it’s higher priced than a regular 000-15.
Beautiful playing Chris. Do you have a preference for a spruce or mahogany top for fingerstyle guitar?
Thank you very much Bill
No preference in particular. I enjoy both materials equally. They both represent great flavors for different styles. I would give a slight edge to spruce for being perhaps a bit more versatile. But the Martin 000-15’s are incredibly instruments.
@@ChrisEffort Thanks Chris.
What's the difference with the standard 000-15M?
Whats your sound set up re mic ? Please.
Hi John
Thanks for your comment :-)
You can find all the information you seek in the description.
Would love a video on how you record and what gear you use. You can multi track too? Thanks Chris, the new 000 sounds great!
Thank you Paul. And thanks for the suggestion, I might do that eventually . If you are curious on my setup it’s in the description.
Hi Chris, I was wondering what your opinion was between this guitar, the traditional 000-15m and the sm version. I own the Streetmaster. Do you think the katalox bridge has a big effect on the tone of the Streetmaster?
Hi Jason
I don’t think the difference is very noticeable - even to identical 000-15’s can sound different.
Thanks for this great video. Very nice playing with that great sounding Martin. What strings do you have on there, may I ask?
Thank you very much. The strings are the lifespan 2.0 12s - but they are not brand new in this video. They sound great for a pretty long time. I do love the Retro strings as well.
I was just about to ask the same thing.. I've always put EXP15'S on my Fender GA45SCE but now that I have a StreetMaster coming I am open to trying something new and good gracious your playing on that guitar sounds absolutely amazing my good man.. Was soooo close to buying a 2019 Taylor 322E but after stumbling across the StreetMaster and listening to it being played in a bunch of different styles on RUclips I just had to have one..
My hair was longer than yours. I just cut it all off the other day. Yes, all of it. Immediately regretted it.
(It was getting "in my way.")
Doing okay with it now (because...what choice do I have)...but...think hard before you cut off your hair.
Beautiful damn guitar, BTW.
Haha thanks bud. I’m keeping it for now, but man I miss the convenience of having a short buzz.
Like everyone else, came for the guitar review but damn, man. Beautiful tones that you being out of that guitar. Truly excellent. Are these your pieces? Also, what tuning are you using if you don’t mind me asking?
Thank you very much Manuel! It means a bunch. Yeah I try only to use original compositions in my videos. The tunings I believe are just standard and drop d in this one.
