There are some genuinely funny moments in this drama that make it worth watching. When they find out she doesn't have cancer, he tells her he wants to take her on vacation--to Russia! How romantic! This is the first of these dramas I've seen where the male lead actually draws a firm line with his mother, who acts like a spoiled child, and no matter how badly she acts out, he simply doesn't back down and stands by his wife's side. Amazing. Usually the men in these dramas are such mommy's boys it's sickening.
Misdiagnosed story.... this cast is lovely to look at, and the chemistry is good. While it's not my favorite story, this one is not bad. Sit back, suspend disbelief and enjoy.
Soooo, the FL suffered for I don´t know how many years without telling the ML or anybody else. Perfect martyr victim FL, who blames everybody else but SHE is degrading herself and by doing that she invites MIL and wanna be green tea to walk all over her - even her own son does NOT respect her. Did the ML do wrong? Yes, he neglected his wife and did not make enough time to see, what was going on in his house. Did the FL do wrong? Yes, she should have set boundaries from the very beginning, she should have taught MIL, SFL and her son that they have to treat her with respect. She should have told her husband what was going on and DEMAND, that he take care of the situation. I can accept them getting back together, because both were at fault here, both were responsible for the failed marriage.
You seem to be ignorant of what marriage means in China. Men and women don't marry for love, they marry to create a family and to benefit both sets of in-laws. This means that when a woman marries, she becomes her husband's property. She is expected to get pregnant right away, and in the meantime take care of the house, the in-laws, and eventually the child. She is basically a slave. She's supposed to feel grateful to have a home at all. She is expected to suffer silently, be obedient and submissive, and ignore her husband's infidelity. If she eventually can't stand the pain and wants a divorce, she will be thrown out with little or nothing. The children are the husband's property and after the divorce they remain with the husband's family. Divorced women are looked down upon and rarely have the chance to remarry. After years of being the family slave, they rarely have any job skills. Many of them commit suicide as a result. In China, marriage is hell.
Even though I saw another one last weekend with different actors but there was no child in it, I do believe I like this one better. Both the leads are awesome and the child added a touch of desperation and panic in their little family, excluding the mother. The only thing she worried about was money, ruining the marriage, turning the child against the mother and her wannabe daughter-in-law. Forgot to add, no matter how much the ml's mother begs for forgiveness I would never ever grant it, that Leppard will never change. She is too good at being a psycho narcissist that loves to see the fl in disparity. Give her 4 months and the honeymoon faze would be over and she would go back to being a eater of souls. She sure is a nasty piece of work.
