    9:23 You can go down the stairs with a bike. There is a U-shaped channel along the steps to put your bike tires and walk the bike up or down.

    love these videos! just waiting for my new ebike to come but I can't wait to check out some of these trails when it does. thanks for the great content :)

      Thanks! which e-bike did you purchase? Also, be sure to use your left handbrake to cut the power to the motor when stopping. I know it might feel weird to brake more with the front tire, but I ended up hurt last year because I hadn't realized the left brake was more important than the right. Of course some brands might have it the other way around, so be sure to read your manual to see which one cuts the power.

      I went with the Himiway Cobra, it's a big fat tire ebike (4.8" tires) with full suspension, and should be here in a couple weeks.
      Sorry to hear about your accident. I know the breaks cut power to the motor but I'll have to read the manual when i get it. I can see how using the front break more would seem weird though. I won't go too crazy on it until I have a good feel for the bike though

    I wish there was a "legal" connection to Ottawa St S from this trail. 😂

      I honestly think there is space for a proper trail. Maybe even a switch-back to reduce the incline.

    If I ride down the escarpment rail trail and want to ride up the keddy access trail, do you have any recommendations on how to connect to it? I would like to avoid stairs as my scooter weighs 65 pounds and i'm weak.

    • @HamiltonRambler
      @HamiltonRambler  2 года назад

      I would turn right onto Ferguson and go through the tiny tunnel behind Corktown Pub, turn right onto Hunter and continue straight. Hunter become the Keddy Access Trail. Alternatively, you could take Walnut instead of Ferguson if you don't like the tiny tunnel.

    Would you know if Keddy Access Trail connects with the Escarpment Rail Trail? Thanks a lot for the video.

      Keddy becomes Hunter. From Hunter travel a short distance and turn left on Ferguson. There's a narrow tunnel under thr train tracks, but it will connect you to the Corktown Park (where the Escarpment Rail Trail begins)

    Random question: what's a good bike route mapping app, i.e., one that will map the best route for you using bike lanes and multiuse trails, etc.? I use ride with GPS toap my own routes. Google maps doesn't seem to do a good job.

    • @HamiltonRambler
      @HamiltonRambler  2 года назад +2

      Unfortunately, the best route mapping app that is currently available is Google Maps. It sort of knows some of the roads that cyclists should avoid and will make a route that is somewhat safe, but you're right, it really doesn't do a good job. I always have to zoom in and see if the satelite shows bike lanes and pull and drag points around to adjust the route if I see better streets to take.
      This is probably the most up-to-date map of the cycling infrastructure in Hamilton (assuming you live here)
      www.arcgis.com/apps/webappviewer/index.html?id=d193513e973f4d44a2647f874967c57e&mobileBreakPoint=300
      The blue, green, and brown lines are bicycling lanes and trails/paths, and everything else is just useless. It's not very helpful though, because blue lines can be anything from a simple painted line to fully protected bike lanes with walls, and you don't get a good idea what the intersections are like where the blue lines cross. Some intersections aren't very easy to figure out how to use.
      I think I might have to make an easier to understand map in the near future, because it is rediculous that it's difficult to plan rides. If I knew how to make an app, I'd do that, but I'm not good at programming. Perhaps someone will make an app one day!

    This is great, thanks! Is there a view of the falls off the trail?

    • @HamiltonRambler
      @HamiltonRambler  3 года назад +1

      You can see some of the cascades leading up to the falls from the trail, and glimpses of Albion Falls from Mountain Brow Blvd. For the best view, you will want to cross the road and stand on the sidewalk. There is also pats of the Red Hill Trail that get a really good view. That trail starts just on the other side of the road from the intersection of Arbour Rd and Mtn. Brow Blvd

    Can you do a bike route to green hill area from Hamilton mountain, only through trail can you go over highway or take the mountain climber

    • @HamiltonRambler
      @HamiltonRambler  3 года назад

      What neighbourhood or area are you starting from? I'd probably say Mt Albion is your best route if I understand your question correctly. The trail section is paved and gets close to Paramount Dr which connects to Stone Church Rd. Biggest issue the the steep section near the top.

    • @HamiltonRambler
      @HamiltonRambler  3 года назад

      You need to make sure your brakes are in good working order to tackle the steep section going down. I can see about making a video if you let me know rough start and stop locations. Thanks

    Can I park for free at Corktown park?

    • @HamiltonRambler
      @HamiltonRambler  Год назад

      I believe so. There's some parking spots on the south side of the park on Forest Avenue and there is always street parking around the neighbourhood as well

    Lawrence is terrible. The bike path needs to be desperately repaved.
