Wow, I just love the simplicity of this vice, lightweight, portable and very pleasing on the eye ...what's not to like; will definitely be following your other videos. Thank you for taking the time to make it.

Oh man! Thats genius. Easy to carry, simple, and looks like a hard grip. ill do one for me right now
10 1/4 long X 4 3/4 wide X 1 3/4 thick. I think I have some white oak firewood that is not going to get burned for this project. Love the idea and design!
Whether the use is yours or not, that was some awesome carpentry! To use angle iron for the metal vise jaws and then plain wood for the wood vise blew me away. The west may have some advanced tools for metal and wood working, but your tools are based on centuries old designs that I would love to have, since they work much more carefully and skilfully. I was fascinated by your entire video. Domo Arigato!
It may have been covered elsewhere in the comments but here goes: I liked what you did - simple, affordable and achievable. I'd have liked a subtitle into at least English of what two of the coatings were - the wood coating was simple but I wasn't quite sure what the metal coating was. BUT! The camera shake was a serious blemish for an otherwise well-produced video. Every time you actually did something, the whole image blurred. A tripod sitting on the floor or a separate table or stool perhaps? Even a piece of timber clamped to something else and overhanging the workbench to mount the camera on. I enjoyed the light background music - what was it?
I like your idea of using the steel angle pieces to convert a wood vise to a metal vise. I can use that idea to temporarily convert my bench woodworking vise and my portable workbench for light metal work. Arigatou!

Daniel Robertson , i saw it too, but i think he taught us about it separately. Or we can understand that with professor : First is perfect material to do any thing. Ha ha
Excellent. But may I make a humble suggestion: to place the iron angles FLUSH with the Wood jaws, and to use larger iron angles, so you have a larger surface. I would use flat head crews, coutersunk the holes in the iron angles, so that the screw heads don't protrude...just a suggestion! Best Wishes from Mexico.
Thank you for watching. This design is mine but it is common, and idea of using clamps is not mine.I referred to the video which I watched in RUclips in the past. I have forgotten that video.Maybe > > > ruclips.net/video/2xa5bZ_Ek5M/видео.html
It's exactly what I need too. I made a very nice looking woodworking bench but it's used for other purposes as well. I don't want to install a large or not so good looking woodworking vise on it. This vise will fit the bill, and it's not a permanent attachment to my bench.
Great concept, simple design and useful...but instead of making by hand and time consuming a cnc router can make this in 1:10 of the time and much, much more precise....unless time and precision are not an issue...or access to cnc is not an option.
CNC is a bit like mobile phones... It robs people from the capacity to think with their own minds / hands. In the long run it destroys more than it benefits. Try a week without electricity and see how it makes you feel.
Nice .. but i think the metaliques parts is mor estitiqual and mor nice if it is in the curving of the wood not in out of this ones ...it's just idea ❤

cool yet simple design
Fantastic! I'm watching many of your videos and you have many great ideas and designs. Thank you for sharing these!
Another day! Another ingenious idea from the Sensei! Thank you.
Seeing you struggle with this makes me think that you really needed a vice in order to make your vice! Nicely done.

Excellent tortorials keep it up
I would so very much enjoy your videos WITHOUT the music....listening to you work is music enough!!!
this is wonderful! I'm going right to my shop now!

It was worth watching this video for the knot filling trick as much as anything.
Lovely and a simple idea, I shall be borrowing your design!

Awesome vise. I will make one.
Next on the list to build, is a solid workbench!
Such an elegant solution
Simple, beautiful and very functional! Thanks!
Good idea!!! Thank you for sharing this.
Interesting. I've often improvised basically the same thing, but making a nice dedicated unit could be useful. Thanks.
Well done, and nicely produced presentation

Fantastic idea 👍👍👍👍
As usual, simple is efficient and elegant. It looks like you are full of good ideas!
Very nice!
Very simple yet very useful.
Great Job Maestro!
Cheers from Chicago USA...
Thank you. I may use this.
This is GREAT !!! Thank you.
You gave me a great idea. Many thanks.
Lol did that work to fill that knot hole and you just ended up cutting it out. Haha. You’re awesome man! Love the build! Thanks for sharing.
Daniel Robertson , i saw it too, but i think he taught us about it separately. Or we can understand that with professor : First is perfect material to do any thing. Ha ha
Was wondering why he went to all the trouble of filling the knot-hole,only to cut that section out & throw it away ?!
Great video and process. Excellent idea. Thanks for sharing.
Definitely my next project. So many uses!

I think your suggestion is correct. Thank you!
I love good ideas . Thank for to share your ideas with us.
Nice first minute. :-) cutting that away later will get people thinking at least twice :-D
This is Brilliant and just what I need!! =)))))) thank you!!!
Thank you for sharing. Ill have to craft one for myself. Also, beautiful 🎶
A perfect, a great work and a very good idea thanks for sharing :) :) :)
Gonna make one of them!
Whole time I was wondering on what side did that knot ended up. And then you removed it. :)
nice. thanks for the video. gotta make this one!
Nice build! Thanx for eng annotations too.
This is exactly what I have been looking for!!
Thank you for sharing this!!
Is this your design?

That one gets build tomorrow! Thanks so much for sharing!!
Thank you for the video. What is the chemical you treated the steel with that turned it black?
The chemical has the effect of rust prevention. It is a product similar to Gun Blue. However, it is cheap. Thank you for watching.
That was great work but why plug the hole then just throw it away never would have thought to plug a hole like that

excellent idea..you´re a genious!!!..thanks for sharing
Great....I'll do it. Thanks for sharing.
Was that Tung or linseed you applied to the wood? Excellent build. I'm subscribing!
That was polyurethane resin. Woodworking vegetable oils are very expensive in Japan. I want to use beeswax.
Thank you for watching.
@@fareastwood I'm sure Japan has plenty of ancient tricks for woodworking that make up for it!!
una bravura e una manualità superiore
Nicely done, but there are many simple ways to secure work to a sturdy work bench - which appears to be what you need most.
Muy lindo trabajo!!!. Gracias por compartir.
Complimenti una bellissima manualità Fabrizio .italia
Lovely work and a pleasure to watch, Thank you. Just one question, what was the liquid that you coated the steel with?
It is the liquid for black rust processing. Thank you for watching.
@@fareastwood Thank you :-)
Good video and very job..thanks
Beautyful..! I shall build one myself tomorrow..! Thanks for sharing.
It's marvelous, thank you for sharing.
Very nice video, very nice working in progress !
Simple elegance
Excellent video, technic, idea.. . But please next time change the music
Music is awesome 😀😀😀
Marvelous!
As in Japan, visited ... Quietly, steadily, efficiently, look and have a rest. Thank you!
Excelente diseño, muy práctico.
Very Nice! Thank you.

Perfect thanks a lot :) :) :)

Nice

Prima Lösung!
Why not use a western workbench with a traditional vise?
wonderful vise but please don't put your camera on the work bench. i got so motion sick watching this. thanks
Brilliant!
