As a frugal minimalist, there are certain hacks that I have in my life that help me lower my expenses by 25%. In this video, I share 15 of those hacks.
1. Turn Heating/Air Down When Sleeping
One easy hack to lower your energy bill is to turn down your heating or air conditioning by a degree or two before going to bed.
2. Don’t Keep The Thermostat On When Not Needed
We are at the time of year when it isn't too hot and isn't too cold. An easy way to save some extra money on your energy bill is to keep your thermostat off if you don't need it.
3. Compare Utility Rates Every Six Months Or Year
In some states, utility services are competitive and various companies will offer competitive rates. One way to save money on your utility bills is every six months to a year, compare prices to see who has the cheapest option.
4. Go Paperless & Auto Pay
Many companies will give you a $5 to $10 discount if you enroll your bills in paperless and auto pay.
5. Ditch Amazon Prime
Amazon Prime costs $14.99 a month, which is a lot given that you don't even need it to get the free shipping. If you spend more than $35 on Amazon, you can get free shipping without needing Amazon Prime.
6. Switch To Mint Mobile
Many people waste money on their cell phone bill every month by choosing to go with a main carrier. An easy hack to lower your cell phone bill to $15 a month is to switch to Mint mobile.
7. Live In A Smaller Place
In the United States, and in many other parts of the world, house sizes are ridiculously large, which causes people to spend more on the rent/mortgage and utility bill. Live in a smaller place to save money.
8. Turn Off Lights When Leaving Home
Another way to save money on your utility bill is to turn off all the lights whenever you leave your house.
9. Ditch The Sugary Drinks
Many people waste so much money buy a bunch of sugary drinks like coke and Gatorade. One easy way to save money on your grocery bill is to ditch the sugary drinks.
10. Buy Bruised Fruit And Vegetables
Many grocery stores will offer fruits and vegetables at a discounted price when they have bruises on them. This is an easy way to buy healthy foods at a lower price.
11. Buy A Moka Pot And Frother For Lattes
The price of a latte has gotten ridiculous where it's over $7 plus a tip. One easy way to save money while still enjoying lattes is to buy a moka pot and frother and make your own at home.
12. Check Car Fluids Every Other Week
If you are a car owner, it is important to stay on top of your car fluids and make sure they are not too low. This allows you to prevent having to pay for expensive trips to the mechanic.
13. Use Gasbuddy
Gasbuddy is an app that shows you the cheapest gas in your area. Download the app and it can help you find gas prices that can range between 81 cents a gallon.
14. Be Tracked By Your Insurance Company
Insurance companies now offer discounts on insurance rates if you put a tracking device in your car. Although this sounds controversial, when you think about it, everyone is already invading your privacy anyways.
15. Limit Streaming Services To 1
There are many streaming services that offer entertainment; however, these services really add up. Limit yourself to one streaming service in order to avoid overspending.

The whole point of wealth for me is freedom. My magic number in my mind is 5 million needed at 65 to not worry about anything. Am i better off investing a good portion of my income into stocks or saving my earnings to achieve this goal?
Varied sources of income is wise and especially living within your means. My net worth is $2M and I can pay my bills with no stress, but I don't live like I have that. I have no complaints.
Money advice is subjective, what works for you may not work for someone else, but it's always better to plan. I'm quite lucky exposed to personal finance at an early age, started job 19, bought first home 28, got laid-off work 36 amid covid-outbreak, and at once I consulted an advisor to handle growing my finance. As of today, I'm only 25% short of my $1m goal after subsequent investments.
@@mikegarvey17bravo! i'm 46, inherited money from a childless relative and traveled overseas, got married to a lady almost my age, but the only issue is how to preserve and grow my wealth in view of retirement, can your advisor be of help please?
Yes indeed.... *Gertrude Margaret Quinto* has always been on the top of my list..She is regarded as a genius in her area and well knowledgeable about financial markets. I highly recommend you look her up if you want excellent collaboration.
Thanks for sharing. I curiously searched for her full name and her website popped up immediately. I looked through her credentials and did my due diligence before contacting her.
My work gives free bananas, oranges and apples. I save thousands because of this.
Managing money is different from accumulating wealth, and the lack of investment education in schools may explain why people struggle to maintain their financial gains. The examples you provided are relevant, and I personally benefited from the market crisis, as I embrace challenging times while others tend to avoid them. Well, at least my advisor does too, jokingly.
Investors should exercise caution with their exposure and exercise caution when considering new investments, particularly during periods of inflation. It is advisable to seek guidance from a professional or trusted advisor in order to navigate this recession and achieve potential high yields.
This is superb! Information, as a noob it gets quite difficult to handle all of this and staying informed is a major cause, how do you go about this are you a pro investor?
Due to my demanding job, I lack the time to thoroughly assess my investments and analyze individual stocks. Consequently, for the past seven years, I have enlisted the services of a fiduciary who actively manages my portfolio to adapt to the current market conditions. This strategy has allowed me to navigate the financial landscape successfully, making informed decisions on when to buy and sell. Perhaps you should consider a similar approach.
this is definitely considerable! think you could suggest any professional/advisors i can get on the phone with? i'm in dire need of proper portfolio allocation
Well, there are a few out there who know what they are doing. I tried a few in the past years, but I’ve been with Melissa Terri Swayne for the last five years or so, and her returns have been pretty much amazing.
I 100% agree with Amazon prime. Not having prime for 2 years not only saved me on the membership price but also I'm not buying things just out of boredom. I put them in the cart and then if I really need it, I buy it when Shipping is over 35. Best hack for me
Agree 100%, I do the same. Or I'll add it to my wishlist to save for later and I'd bet about 90% of the time, what is in the wishlist later gets deleted and not purchased.
Walmart is excellent about not charging for shipping on most things!
I might be unconscious at night but if the ac is off Im gonna be sweating my butt off and Im gonna wake up 😂
I bought a good quality brand new heated blanket and heated vest from Amazon and turn my heat off. My bill went from $100 a month to $40 a month.
Hi 👋 how long can u run the vest before battery goes flat?
@@myaccount9498 hi back. It has three settings. Ororo (on amazon.) It's expensive but it has a low, medium and high setting. The low setting will last me most of the evening from dinner to the time I go to bed and then I recharge the battery at night while I'm sleeping under my electric blanket. Hope this helps.
Only works I'd u live by urself when u have kids this may not work
I grew up in a house with one fireplace in the living room and we would have frost inside the windows. We wore layers and moved. Now as an adult I do the same thing. Heating an entire house 24 hours a day seems so wasteful, Eve though I can afford it.I have better things to spend money on.😃
The issue is that underheating will damage your building substance.
You're goofy but I love it.
🤣
I laughed out loud when you said you were unconscious 😂😂😂
I do almost all of these, except 1. I need to be cool at night to sleep well. So I do turn it down at night
Yea. I may not be aware of the heat when I'm sleeping, but I'm aware of it when I'm tossing and turning. I'm definitely aware of it when I wake up in a puddle of sweat and feel disgusting.
I was taught to check my engine oil basically every single day that I go out with my car and to also warm up the car for a few minutes before moving it from the drive way
Hello, I was also taught to do this everyday by my dad. He would say, "look after your belongings & they'll look after you" tx Dad, it's proved to be right.
@@pamelamonteiro9601 Maintance is everything
Austin, I would add using Flosser picks immediately after eating any food. I carry one in my pocket at all times. Since I started doing this 7 years ago, zero cavities. Dental bills used to be thousands a year for cavities, crowns, etc. I also skip the floride treatments they push. Savings amount to $200-$300 a month.
Good tip
I use water floss which is wonderful
I hardly buy my coffee from shops and use my stainless mocha pot instead. I really enjoy watching your videos!
Why buy coffee from shops at all.?
Turning the lights off when you aren't home is not just a money saving thing, but can also be a safety thing. Someone I know left a lamp on in her living room and in that 15 minutes she was gone, her house caught fire because it was faulty! After that, she told everyone she knew to be sure they turned off all their lights when they were leaving the house. Had she been home, she might have caught it before it did as much damage as it did.
I put most items on power strips and absolutely turn them off before leaving the house.
Do not put a tracker on your car. Don't hand them information to be used against you in the event of an accident.
STAR IS SO BEAUTIFUL
I got rid of every debt…and stopped buying any new duckorations for my home…🤣
The 16th hack, close your fridge door you're wasting electricity 🎉.
Good job developing the story telling. ❤ your loyal subscriber since your first video.
He's gonna get that Silver Plaque soon!
Free Sun light! 💡
Awwww, Star is adorable!
Star is precious and such an adorable pup! Thank you SO much for the vids that help me save all the time!🤗💓💯⭐️⭐️⭐️
If you get government benefits in the United States do not go paperless. DHS and SSD/SSDI can ask for copies of your bills at any time
People leaving abusers should not get tracked by insurance if they have not separated accounts yet.
The cost of living seems to be increasing every year, making it harder to keep up.
Indeed, it's becoming quite challenging to manage expenses.
I've actually managed to stay ahead of the curve. I'm even contemplating early retirement.
Impressive! How did you achieve that?
@@LeahLewis-ny9iu Our family got introduced to a financial consultant”RPC WEALTH. LLC” about four years before my dad retired. That was what changed things, and I think my retirement income will be on the right track, luxury cars and trips
Amazon prime is music, videos, photo storage, etc. worth if for me.
You leaving that fridge door open for so long almost gave me a stroke 😅
I saw Wine.
That's a surgery drink I can get on board with. ❤
Loved it! - you pulled out all the stops. We got not 1 but 2 fan favorite guest appearances!!! So funny. Thank you for both the laughs and the frugal tips.
That's a cute dog!
Hello kathy
I’m always happy to see you upload. Though I’m an Englishman living in Canada; though some things/ points I can’t always relate to, however though a majority of your content is universal.
I’m really happy to see your move went smoothly and to see you set up. Amazing mate.
I love how you've slowly filled in your living room. It looked quite sparse at first; but now it looks cozy and inviting. And knowing you, so does your debt balance, at $0-. Nice job.
Love the dog❤
Sugary drinks = $ dental work
I pay Prime 25 euros a year I can't live without ittttt 😂 i keep my stuff in the wishlist forever before buying. Most of it ends up being deleted
Btw this video cracked me up ❤
Good one.
I noticed that you quit looking to the right every 10 seconds in every video which is so awesome. It was so distracting in your earlier videos. It was like a tic or something but now it’s better because you are looking directly at the audience. Love your content!
Very practical money saving hacks thank you Augustin!
great content my man keep it up ! just stumbled upon your videos and they are refreshing !
now those are tips worth sharing!
I love this channel ..your sense of humour is 💯.
Very good. 🎉
I put my thermostat down a degree or 2 at night, but actually pay more😂. I live in FL and getting a proper night sleep is worth every cent and probably saves money over the long run with less medical costs.
You should sleep in a cool room in any case - you will sleep better.
No streaming services except RUclips...
I'm preparing to move to Florida from Pennsylvania. Going from a 1-BR apartment to a 435 Sq ft Studio. Don't need more than that.
OTOH I go to a local Mom&Pop Café every morning for breakfast. Just plain Coffee and a homemade Muffin. I need to get out of the Apartment and see people. Everyone's situation is different.
To add to the gasbuddy tip, find a gas station that's in competition with fellow gas stations and use them and their rewards card.
Had to like the video before even watching it cuz I've been too obsessed with you😂❤
The average American can save thousands of dollars just by not eating out, not going to Starbucks, and bringing lunch to work. Buying the smallest house that still provides enough space likely has the greatest financial benefit; not only is the purchase price lower, but you also pay less tax, less insurance, less maintenance cost, and less utilities.
“Unsubscribe, I don’t like this guy anymore.” Lmao!! Love it!!
Best Video I have ever seen
I hate autopay for the most part. When your card goes bad, you have to go in and adjust it.
It also makes it harder to keep track of your monthly expenditures.
Not all states allow you to shop around for utilities.
Where I live the utility companies have their territories; so it’s a good idea to keep that in mind if you want to live in a particular area of town.
Nescafe now has instant espresso, so even if you're tight on time, you can have a latte at home. It has foam as well.
I see that you’re trying out new ways to entertain your viewers which is not easy. I love your videos and have learned so much from you. I do have to say though and this is just for myself, I find it hard to focus on what you’re trying to teach when you’re doing the little comedy scenes. But that’s just me. But I understand you need to do what you got to do it’s just hard to focus. Look forward to your next video 😊
I just needed to laugh for one!
Finally we seeing the doggy so cute
El Augustin - hilarious video!! Thanks for that great laugh! 🤣🤣
You look really good with that tied shirt. The abs are worth the view. My heat remains at 68 or less. My cats wouldn't survive the winter if I turned it off. It's about 87 and humid. I cant wash dishes when I cant see from the sweat. Amazon Prime covers my movie, tv, and books. My orders are usually under $35. My phone is 5g. My husband needs unlimited. We will be selling our 1500 sf for the 1,300 sf home we're building in western PA. Lights are off when we are not in a room. Temp gets adjusted when we leave. We have a coffeemaker and always have. It costs us about .25 to .50/cup to make.
My dude has reached a new editing level! Can't wait for next videos
Wow so cool about Amazon prime! Had no idea there’s still free shipping when it’s 35$ +! Wow!
Hey Star ⭐️ glad to see you again! Great tips Austin!
Jeez I been watching you for around 4 months from the UK and this video is like comedy gold. It’s a classic and might keep coming back to it for a chuckle. Yee-ha!
Great video! Yes, lots to look at. This last couple years I've been tryign to reduce my heating and cooling usage by, as you said, turning things off, turning things down, opening windows and doors at night. I live in Tucson AZ and I actually have an evaporative cooler system instead of central air. I'm not sure how long it will last, and if it goes out would I invest in a new one or switch, but as it is I SURE love running my cheapter cooler system! It uses a fan and a motor to blow air through dampened pads into the house. It only works in low humidity hot places - I heard actually some parts of Colorado they coolers! Are you familiar?
You look absolutely GORGEOUS in your blue work shirt ❤
I feel like your accent has gotten more Georgian since the last 2 years lol
Now this is what I'm talking about! Great information! These are all easy adjustments to most people's lives. Love this video.

Lol I love everything about this video😂🤭✅
I loved the acting when you opened the fridge.
That Georgia weather has added some spice to El Agustin😂. Keep up the good work.
I loved this video! So fun and funny! 😂
Beer/ wine/ alcohol should have been listed with the sugary drinks. Expensive and not good for you either.
Also use public transportation to get around
I only run my ac at night, super off peak for half the price and it pumps heat out the house when it can cool the ouside unit easier when its already cooler outside.
El Augustin those couple of.bottles of rose in your fridge look a nice pale colour, good picks 😂
Hello angela
Praise the lord ! Thanks Austin😂👍❤️
Your videos are the perfect blend of practical tips and hilarity. I love them! Thank you!
Mint Mobile was just sold to T-Mobile so expect that $15 a month to go up. I went from AT&T to Verizon’s pre-pay and only paying $70 for 2 lines instead of $125. So glad to be saving money now!
You are adorable! You’re very informative, and so entertaining! Thank you 🎉
Love your videos. I would only quibble with your advice to use AutoPay on your bills. Where I live, this isn’t cheaper as many utility companies will use an estimate rather than an actual reading. One month I was charged the electricity use of a 4 person household when I had spent 2 weeks of that month without a fridge or TV plugged in. No way was it possible I had used that much electricity and I would have been charged a few hundred dollars more than I needed to be if AutoPay was in place. I always set up new accounts so that there’s an option to view an invoice first and never with autopsy where possible (sometimes autopsy is mandatory). Almost every month I have to submit an updated meter reading for electricity and hot water in order to be charged correctly. Anyway! Just a thought to consider.
I laughed out loud when you mentioned saving money while being unconscious.
Such an energizing speech!
Hello ana
Best one is to share rent with someone.
Nope eviction nightmares
Unless they are thieves or narcissists...
Unless they are your spouse
I turn the thermostat up at night typically and down under in the day because Im moving around.

I am in Alabama. I finally got my power down to 90.00 dollarss always turn power off at night
I got my stuff in 3 days w/o amazon prime. You don’t need to pay $130/ year.
I like a lot this video El Augustin ☺️
You look so cute in that blue button up shirt

Wow, that's more than a mouthful of profits you're making. How do you achieve this feat consistently? You must be a genius!
I'm 45 and have been looking for ways to be successful?
Have you not heard of mrs Amelia Jason
She has this skill of making complex crypto concepts easy to understand and is truly commendable.
You know her too? I'm also a proud beneficiary of her super platform, there are the biggest custodians.
Not able to sleep when thermostat is at warm setting. Wouldn't it be best to shower, as needed, and keep temp. warm during the day?
First tip: wake up in the middle of the night, every night
Downsizing in many areas costs more for the abode than you would every save on utilities
Austin, this is the only channel whose episodes I consistently hit like for. I appreciate what you do and wish you much success.
It seems my original comment was deleted (I recommended an alternative site to watch movies for free that must have ticked off the powers that be), but this was a very entertaining video -- well done as always!
I like Kanopy. You can get it through some local library systems -- yet another reason to get a library card.
Why did you move from Colorado to Georgia? How can you establish friends circle if you keep moving?
He is originally from GA.
Why is “establishing a friends circle” such a large concern to you?
Happy friday !!! Omg you are so funny...thanks for the laughs. I also really appreicate all of your tips 2 save $$$.
Unfortunately I stuck with AT&T 3 YEARS 😢 unless I just port my number and pay the due balance
Steve McGuire, star of stage, screen, and girlie magazine?! How do you get the budget for these special guest stars?
It ain't easy.
No honey I can’t sleep if it’s hot
Lol. He says lower your thermostat and then raises it. Haha
Steve is cringe but I still love you hahahaha lol
It's going to be harder to find US women on the frugal train, especially if you mention the thermostat
