    Wondering why 1-Oh-1 instead of 101? There is a hint (obscure) in the video.

    Should you purge the bottles with inert gas before bottling or is it okay without?

    Hello, did you disinfect it with potassium metabisulfate to seal the cork?

    Can I ask How long does it take to ferment wine before bottling?

    • @SHredWorld
      @SHredWorld  7 месяцев назад

      Many factors affect fermentation time. For us, some reds 7-8 days, some whites up to 30 days or even longer. Just be sure fermentation is complete before you bottle.

      interesting. what makes them unsuitable?

      @@SHredWorld alot of valves, springs and intricate crevices inside. also the plastics isnt "food safe" as far as i know. even pumping sanitizing solution thru i doubt it will make it clean to your standard.

      You make some good points. My pump is old, 2007, purchased from wine supply store(More Wine), I contacted them and they could not tell me if my pump is food grade. They did say that all the Shurflo pumps they sell (now) ARE food grade. But even with food grade plastics inside, there are still all those nooks and crannies to deal with. I'd be interested in hearing from others how to best sanitize a pump for winemaking.

      @@SHredWorld the best (in sanitary term) would be to use a Peristaltic pump. the only problem is the lack of flow rate. i personally just use the siphon tubing and valve technique, its way easier to deal with.
