I love how this turned out and it looks very easy. I am new to flat needle felting. I bought a kit in February 2020 and I had NO idea how it worked but the samples were beautiful in the store. So, I had a clerk at The Fancy Tiger Craft Store here in Colorado explain to me how to do it. Once I got home I opened my box and I was so sacred that I would not be able to complete the kit. But I read your directions and just started and OMG! I am addicted to flat needle felting. I have bought 3 more of your Coloring with Felt kits. Now I am eager to try this one too. I like these better than the animals. I have tried a bird and it didn't turn out good at all. I will continue to do the 2D Flat Needle Felting! THANK YOU!

Great - sounds good! As an FYI, our kits were changed to a round format last year and most of our 9 landscapes are currently sold out while we wait on a linen shipment to arrive (linen is the new base instead of prefelt). Hope to have them back up in 2 weeks or less.

Thank you! This was SO helpful. I was given a kit as a gift and did not have the first idea about how needle felting works. Hi, I have watched your video and was so inspired to make my own picture following your instructions. I have loads of lots of wool in in sorts of colours and all the other necessary items to create it but I’m struggling to get the same sort of shades for the wool 😞 the only colours available online in the UK are too vibrant. Can you suggest where to go to have more choice? Thank you
Hi, well I do ship to Europe but unfortunately international shipping has gotten very high. Off the top of my head, the sellers I know of in the UK that you could try are: www.worldofwool.co.uk/ and lincolnshirefenncrafts.com/ You could also do an Etsy search for "needle felting wool" and limit the search to UK sellers... You might also try DHG in Italy. Shipping from DHG to you might be less than from me to you.

I ordered this kit. What size/type of needle comes with it? I ordered needles too. Just wondering in case I were to break the one that comes with the kit.
One size 38 Triangle comes with the kit
What is the name of the base for nailing the wool?
It is called Prefelt, or Preliminary felt. It is felt that has not been all the way felted yet.
Is there any way to still get this with the prefelt backing rather than the linen? I would prefer the rectangle frame.
You could purchase the kit and a separate piece of prefelt - it is now called "felter's base - thick." Or you can cut the linen to the size that you want and use this video instead of the new video to place the wool.

So do you get everything you need in the kit to make this?
Hi - all of my kits were updated last year. Now you get a linen backing and an embroidery hoop for framing and there is a new video. Other than a mat to work on (which can be reused for other projects) everything comes in the kit.
Hi - the kit has been updated and is now worked on linen so that it fits into a round hoop for framing. But yes, everything you need is in the new kit except for a foam or wool mat to work on.

I appreciate the tutorial and the time you tool to explain everything but oh my the left over visible poke holes are driving me nuts! 😬
Do you already have the picture up off the mat? I find that my holes aren't as noticeable by the very end when the picture has been pulled up. (also, look at it from farther away, not close up!) There will always be some puncture holes showing but you can work on your technique to make them less noticeable. Very noticeable holes could also be a function of the needle you are using, or the combo of needle, type of wool and backing material. To have a smoother looking surface, the depth of your pokes and how close together your pokes are can also play a part. Very close together pokes at an even depth seems to help. I think this is only developed over time as you gain more practice and skill.

This is not the ocean kit that I just bought, and I can't find the tutorial for the one I have, it's called Coastal Waters and it looks nothing like this.
