It makes me happy to see the love that a master craftsman has for his work. You are a dying breed sir. Hopefully others in my generation will be able to learn and pass on these types of skills, but as of 2021 its not looking too good.

Why don't you use a router and your jig as a template??

Thanks for your comment - and hey! Its a good question. Quite simply, Greg works exclusively with hand tools. That's his area of expertise and his tutorials will always be connected to the use of hand tools. As you can see from his workshop, he has a wonderful collection of them, and he teaches the use of them in his workshops. If time-honoured techniques with hand tools are your thing, then look out for more videos from our own Greg Miller.

You could also use a table saw with a tilting arbour - but this is a video about using hand tools - in particular the delights of using hand planing techniques. I could also add that it is not as noisy or as dusty as a router. There is something deliciously satisfying about using the tactile skill in our hands and eyes to create things by hand the way out ancestors did. Some of us love to know we are keeping alive the Wisdom of the centuries. While it takes skill to use a router properly too, it is a different type of skill to what I am demonstrating here. Thanks for your feedback.
