Loved sailing on QM2 from Southampton to New York - it was MAGIC, Nostalgic, and everything about it was as what Micky shares with us in this video. Sadly for me, it was the last time my Mother and I traveled together as she passed quite suddenly the following year. Happily however, this sailing was on her 'bucket list' and so I was pleased to share the experience of a transatlantic crossing on a wonderful ocean liner with her.
Micky Arison, great story teller! I crossed the Atlantic when I was 5-6 years old, 1960 on the S.S. United States. I remember having smoke stack envy as our ship had 2 & The Queen Mary had 3. When you retire (if you retire) you should write a book! I'd read it! Great video!
Mr. Arison.. totally correct. The QM to crossing was on my bucket list, did it around Christmas two years ago, did it last year and I'm going to do it again this year. As you say a totally Hypnotique experience needing to be enjoyed as many times as possible in this lifetime!!!
Mr Arison. I totally agree with you. QM2 is quite an experience. I loved the crossing with this ship, sorry, Ocean Liner. The best, and once you have crossed with Cunard, there is nothing that compares. I have been in the QE and now looking forward to the QV. . Wonderful experience. Thank you. The Coppola's
I feel that Mickey is probably the saviour of the ocean liner history in the modern age. His decision to build QM2 as a new age ocean liner reignited the opportunity to be a part of this history for all of us today. I only wish he could help with the repurposing of Americas greatest and last ocean liner the United States. It would make a great hotel in Manhatten for cruise travellers to stay in between voyages (in my opinion). Thank you Mickey for giving us some magnificent ships!
Parker Smith thank you! RXR Realty have signed a deal with the SSUSC to redevelop the ship and they are hopefully pitching the new vision to various cities (including New York) so fingers crossed! It would be magnificent to do an Atlantic crossing, have a few days in NY staying on the fastest ocean liner in the world, then sail home again! Let’s hope 🤞🏻
@@BGCW_86 Yeah, the SS United States is a great ship, and while it might not be that great of a ship right now, its well worth the effort to fix her. And, I love your idea of staying on her as a hotel and then taking a transatlantic crossing. I'm crossing my fingers too.
Always wanted to travel on QM2, only thing is that I can’t afford a trip on it. Would love to take a trip on it transatlantic route to England before QM2 sea days are over.
william marshall QM2 used to be registered in Southampton, with her sisters, but their port of registry changed to Hamilton, Bermuda in 2011 to enable weddings to take place on board as well. This happened to Queen Elizabeth and Queen Victoria as well. Also, I think that a few other cruise lines, such as P&O are registered to Hamilton for this reason as well.
I don't think so. The QM2 is the start of a new era. In a long time, when the QM2 is retired, I have no doubt that Carnival Corporation will be quick to build a replacement, or even a running mate before then.
Cunard has in my opinion gone down in quality quite a lot over the years. Don’t get me wrong, they are still very good, but not excellent like they were 5 to 10 years ago. I don’t think that they’ll ever be the glorious British ocean liners that they once were.

Tried it once, once is not enough will go back again to relive the fantasy of a bygone era. Well done ladies and gentlemen of Cunard.
Do you think QM2 Will mark the end of Ocean liner era?
Great Video

Thats actually a great idea. Lets pitch it to Carnival Corp. They probably wouldn't go for it right now, but maybe in a few years.

Great video.
Did he sail on the Mauretania tania 2 or the second Mauretania?
I love 💕 Cunard
Did he sail on the 2nd Mauritania?
Yes, he did.
He came over on the second ‘Mauretania’ so they show the ‘Queen Mary’.....
Oiga señor arison porque se limita a mantener viva esa tradición de trasatlanticos con un solo barco
Why is it not registered in Southampton like all the other liners

Chloe Hazeldene though there true home is in soton
We know him - Miami !
Will QM2 be the end of a era? Hopefully not, the ambulance of Cunard is what separates the QM2 from a boatride.

That because they are American owned now.
