In the past, none of my friends had this game in my country in Europe. So I never played this game online. Such a great game. Then somewhere in 2002/2004 I changed my operating system to XP and this game always crashed on the second map. I was sad ;D Simple but fun game and pretty to this day. Maybe I will finally try to complete this game! I completed GTA 3 and the first Half-Life in 2023 for the first time, so maybe I'll finish GTA 2 in 2024. I have a few days left, though. I really like going back to old games that I never finished to the end.
it is a pity they never published the source code. there was so much potential to develope a pure multiplayer gta2 with ctf team death match, improved netcode, mutliplayer via internet, mods, more maps, etc. almost infinite possibilities. i like the grafix, the gameplay and the sounds, especially the game moderator ("instant gang *tiny cheers*" - people who shout: "asshole" and "jerk off") the netcode is bad in my experience and when you run the multiplayer game with more than 4 people and a time limit above 10 minutes it gets bugy very often. i was experiencing ghosts of players doing something while my buddy sitting next to me was doing something totally different (no, we werent hacked - it was a pure lan without internet connection). it seems like the game was splitted into two or more different games where the players no more playing at the same time... weird. it was not the latency, just a random demon controling my buddies ingame player. my buddy was doing something totally different and was watching me doing some random shit i never did...only way to solve that was to quit the game and run a new and fresh one. 4 players and 10 minutes time limit was the best way to go and to have fun. we had games where everything worked well even above 20 minutes. but 10 minutes was a good cap to avoid the problems mentioned above.
This could be better if they added some homes, cars tuning, weapon shop, missions for few people, races and such. I was thinking to make such a game in 2D, but it's not easy.
Iv been thinking about this for almost 2 years now. It would be amazing if we could remake this game with hosted internet servers, with different variations of gameplay like a RP style or similar to GTA 5 online. I would love gang style games with instant gang bonus and imagine borrowing the territorial hood concept from the later GTA San Andreas. Changing the color of the gangs town on minimap and having the 3 gang system to manipulate respect in your game even playing as the slim pedestrian character when you have low strength/points and you have the same health/attack/defense as the street pedestrian (1 shot 1 kill with pistol)
I can watch this all day long.
5:17 i hate those wallet hunters xD
Jajajaajajajaa👍
"Gimme your wallet!!"

Imagine the single player districts but multiplayer or co-op. That would be awesome

And ofcourse i would love to be able to walk/run instead of only run. Perhaps a sprinting ability could be introduced.
This looks like genuine fun, do people still play this? You use Hamachi or GameHunter?
GameHunter
Where to play multiplayer?
Did you find?
Nice!
Gta 2 has flying
