@DCAreaTransitFan Thanks (also to WMATAvids). I've now read about the HybriDrive system. Very nice. The reason it doesn't sound like the transmission is shifting is that there is no transmission. The bus is driven by an electric traction motor, with the diesel running a generator to charge the batteries as well as powering the electric motor. A large scale Chevy Volt!
It's about time they got buses with those style seats and wheelchair supports (I'm not sure of the technical term for them). These buses sure sound nice.
I don't hear the transmission shifting. Does it use a CVT? What is the purpose of the padding at front, facing the rear, in the wheelchair area? Thanks.

In my hometown (Flint, MI), MTA just got 10 of them this month; they'll purchase 120 total over 2 years.
