Great explanation, with an engineering background (many years ago) I learned perspective & 3d from all the drawings & cad/cam & remember being told always have your line & dot & you won't go wrong on your angles
I done aerospace engineering & had to work out the best position & angles to place the component on a page to maximise the view & my tutor taught us to have the idea of what you want & place your horizon line & dot feintly in roughly where you think your angles will work best & then draw your image drawing your lines fitting your image to the 3d angle you want instead of trying to make the 3d fit afterwards as that doesn't always give you the best view of the design of your image (tag) in its 3d form & helps cut down on erasing & redrawing
lol this topic goes super in depth, in this video, we really only picked up one snowflake off the tip of this ice burg so definitely feel free to look more stuff up :D
Cool video @theartistblock! Question, what computer program are you using? Also, is there one you would recommend to use on a iPad? Thank bro and keep up the great content!
Hey where do I download those ebooks at? I am really trying to learn graffiti, and I'm barely starting and I wanna start from the beginning to be good man.
Wait I'm confused, did u do it? I had hard time making out the rest of the letters except for the beginning letter( have hard time reading wildstyle. So I'm not really sure who did it. But it looks awesome
@@Theartistblock the picture of the Violator character (clown) from the Spawn comics. But the background painting is amazing too I can't wait to see when it's finished.
I came here to learn. I leave yet again empty handed I'm proud of myself :p Are the premium ebooks not way under their price? Seems almost like their for free as well
I'm not trying to burn a hole in people's wallet. I legit want to help so I have no issue making them affordable to a wider demographic. Plus it's an e book, so I save money not having to print and ship them ya know. If it was a physical book I'd charge normal prices. These are just meant to help people with easy access to the info
@@Theartistblock such a sweet lad you are. Thinking about how expensive it is to get paint legally as well. Yea good on you. May karma pay the full price :)
Could you make a video with various artists in it and their pieces? I'm shaping my fundamentals & am looking for some direction aside from practice practice practice the alphabet. I'm looking for proper technique. Is it just time? I love the Artist Block! Thanks Grim!
nothing changes no matter where the letters are. all you vertex and apexs still go to the VP. Use the technique drawn through to see where your receding lines would be once the letter over laps them that way you can keep your 3d constant and make sure to erase those drawn through lines as discussed in the video
not only do i demonstrate that at 2:50 as well as 4:50 but even if i hadn't, the formula doesnt change. You have a horizon line, the vanishing point goes on that line. converging lines to to the vanishing point.
The Artist Block oh wow wasn’t expecting a reply! Thanks bro you make it easy to understand but I’m still having an issue finding the apex of circles. How do you do it?
@@Chubbys www.theartistblock.ink/store/free3d download this, its the free version so there is no reason to not grab it, it will help tons. Also watch this video as this is the actual tutorial that teaches that technique ruclips.net/video/4OWgzK2jNFM/видео.html within the first min of the video I teach the answer to your question buddy. Now the only thing that changes from that tutorial is your receding line, instead of being a 1 direction line, it will now converge to the VP (vanishing point.) . look at 4:13 on this video. we have a circle, then we draw the VP, and from here we have a red and green line. The green line goes to the apex, but the red line goes to the enter of the circle. Obviously, we cant have a 3rd line that goes way past the circle because then it's not part of the circle, so whats the problem with the red line? the red line doesn't account for any of the circular form to the left of the red line ( 4:27 ). To fix this we need to move the red line so it extends far enough to account for the circular form and remember we cant move it too far otherwise it passes the circle. let me know if that helped you understand

@@3dblob339 wow there is a ton to unpack here, lots of ignorance for sure. Let me tell you man, only someone who's passionate would spend 6 years of his life putting 100 hours of work a week not making pretty much anything off of it just to make sure I helped people. Only someone whos passionate would spend a decade teaching online (18 years teaching total) with no logical benefits as most of that time I made no money or such little money to where I was better off working at a failing business like blockbuster so clearly, I wasn't in it for the money. Sure now i make a little here and there but I'm not running to the bank with bags of cash. So tell me again, whos not passionate, tell me again, what struggles did you go through to help other graffiti artists, what have you sacrificed to help thousands of graffiti artists and mind you i had already been in graffiti before all this online stuff. I really like the fact that you explain in easy to follow terms, no matter the subject.
thanks man, i legit recorded this twice just to make it easier to understand than the first recording lol

i agree with you
i love your videos as a beginner graffiti artist they have helped me improve so much
This thumbnail is everything I needed, for some reason I literally know how to decently draw every letter except G, and my tag begins with G...
Very well explained 🙌🙌
Finally another tutorial from legend, thanks Sir! 🙏
no problem buddy im glad you enjoyed
hands down best online graffiti mentor
that legit means the world to me, helping people learn this artform is all i want :D
i agree, Grim is a G!
I’ve always known about the vanishing point, but I did not know about the horizon line, but then on the other hand, I’m kind of self-taught
Best video on one point perspective! Thanks.
Fun fact - Masaccio's holy trinity is the earliest known example of vanishing point and horizon line use.
oh look at that, learn something new every day
Big boy grim making then tutorials again
Very helpfull, thank you. Peace from Czech republic ✌
I thought I was the only person who did that for 3D, that horizon line though. Can't wait to make something pop. Never knew or thought about that
