    Funny how they can accomplish that much in 2 months, but Pennsylvania has been building i81 for 50 years.

      And last I checked NORTH CAROLINA has no jurisdiction over Pennsylvania. Heck, we aren't even neighboring states. Go gripe where it's relevant.....like on PADOT's Feedback forms and not an Upstate South Carolina/ Western North Carolina RUclips!

      @AmyC28713 I'm not complaining. I'm simply making a statement.
      Nobody said anything about having jurisdiction. More like how they were able to accomplish so much in a short time. But I should've known better than to comment since there's always some Karen who has to read something into it. Twist it around and then throw their 2 cents in.

      @@donmunro144 ...I'm born and raised in PA. Moved to TN 10 years ago...and I couldn't agree with you more. It does raise an eyebrow. Of course, I'm not sure if I would trust I-40 at this point.

    Remember years ago,they fell short of money cutting through those mountains, they were to be back a quarter mile from that river,but they underbid,ran out of money for blasting mountains back further

    As someone who puts up with the Gatlinburg Leaf-lookers daily because I live in Cherokee.... Those 2 Interstate lanes mean less headaches on our two lane backroads. Those two interstate lanes means no more tractor trailers trying to skirt the law through the national park and jack-knifing and going off the side of Newfound Gap every week too!

      They're likely following GPS on the assumption that US-441 is a fine route for trucks as most US highways are.

      They will need to blow through a mountain if Thom Tillis allows it by Congressional Vote because that corridor runs thru Pisgah National Forrest.
      Unlike Tennessee's Lamar Alexander who plans for this kind of even.... Thom Tillis is a Republican Foot-Dragger who's motto is "eh, we'll get to it when the time comes".
      Tennessee never lost telecommunications. And Tennessee had I-26 open a month ago.

      Seems like he already has.
      Trump did nothing. If Trump had made sure roadside construction was reinforced during Trump 1.0 - this road would not have failed.
      Just as other Republicans Thom Tillis and Chuck Edwards spent no money to expand telecoms in Western NC (unlike TN Republican Lamar Alexander who had billions sent to East Tennessee for an event just like this in the future..,..20 years ago!) We had no Radio, No cell phones, no landlines for over a week in most locations. e911 was reduced to having us go to local fire halls and reporting when broadcast radio finally started coming back on air & with Shortwave HAM radio operators relaying that information to broadcast radio operators (you know them as FM radio)
      Seriously. Trump. Did. Nothing!
      I'm a constitutional upholding Army Veteran - and every incumbent got a vote out from me! I NEVER want to go through this crap again. I pay entirely too many taxes to the state and to The States for this to happen.
