The comments dont understand why this is a severe mistake on the Pokemon Company's side. Effectively now, single boosters in stores are worthless because a single informed buyer/store owner could get every rare card. While sealed booster boxes are effectively the same, the only reason you should ever go to a store and buy a single booster is if you really want a basic rare.
Especially if you buy these packs on ebay or something. You would get them for a really cheap price and be like 'woah so cheap'. but you just get scammed as f.

No wonder he pulled 2 full arts 2 holos 2 GXs and a hyper rare and we both got nothing. Can't wait to start buying individual cards. At least they're not rigged in the sense of the pull rates. You can just mix up the packs before you start opening the booster box.
Supra that's not the point, stores that sell open booster boxes may know this trick. Which means people will be getting scammed for money. If you're going to buy packs out of an already opened box it's just not trustworthy. Make the store owner open another one and shuffle the packs.

They actually are mildly rigged in that sense. On both sides, there's a sub-pattern of Holo/GX/Holo/GX/Holo/GX and so on. Then, each one of those slots has a chance of being a secret rare

UPDATE: there is a new print run sun and moon booster boxes are no longer searchable. But if your planning on buying sun and moon booster boxes I would wait a couple weeks to let all the previous printed boxes to either get sold or returned to ensure a fresh population of fixed boxes

This isn't a scam itself, but it does enable store owners to scam customers into thinking they might get something good having removed all of the good packs

I haven't bought Pokemon cards in quite a few years, since Diamond and Pearl actually, no one does booster boxes here though anyway. We don't have any card, game, or comic shops here anymore. They occasionally sell the booster packs at the dollar store of older sets, but there are only maybe 5 cards in each, we only have like Walmart and maybe Target as our Gamestop's don't carry Pokemon cards, and Walmart as well as Target sells individual packs, but they are in a bunch of packaging that takes a degree in rocket science to open.

THANK YOU so much for sharing this video.. I live in Sydney Australia.. I have bought heaps of single Sun and Moon booster packs from EB Games and NEVER EVER have I scored a good card.. IT ALL MAKES SENSE NOW.. They were only selling the crap packs.. I AM SO ANGRY, UPSET AND SO DISAPPOINTED.. This is such a HUGE discovery.. It is such a SCAM and people should boycott Pokémon.. I just don't feel the same toward Pokémon anymore.. This is totally WRONG..

I'm late to the party here, but in case anyone is seeing this now/in the future, this is no longer an issue.
This was fixed after the second print run of Sun & Moon base. The error was in the Pokemon Company, the online code cards are the last thing put in the packs before they're sealed; then they are randomized. When news of the error came out, the Pokemon Company was reasonably pissed because anyone can easily map where every good card is without having to weigh packs.
The Pokemon Company quickly put out another run of the set and made sure that the packs couldn't be mapped. In recent years they've been doing more to prevent pack weighing and unfair pulls so it wasn't an intentional decision, just an error in the boxing process.
This goes to show that you have to buy from trusted sources because errors will come up and people will take advantage and map boxes or weigh packs. Luckily, the majority of these boxes are no longer in circulation (except those that people bought and didn't open) so if you buy a random pack in store, you do have an honest chance of pulling a good card.
What's everyone doing with their sealed booster boxes now? Holding off on opening them until The Pokémon Company says something, or going for it for the guaranteed rares? Tempted to open mine up and shuffle the boosters around to make it a bit more exciting.

ando maybe to start off the new series they just did this "hack" so you can get introduced to the cards and see if pokemon fans really pay attention to their boxes and packs. So what i think is that this is just a test for fans to take on and see if they can spot whats going on. Thank you for uploading amazing videos and warning us about this.

There's also wayyy to many ultra rares in that booster box as well, which isn't good cause it could cause inflation for those specific "ultra rares" (making them less valuable) if everyone is pulling that many from a single box. Hopefully Pokémon makes this right...

Wow! I'm glad I haven't bought any packs at the local game shop. I didn't even know we had a new game/card shop tbh. The old one closed years ago. I was already too old to care about Pokemon when they came out in the 90s but now I have kids and they showed interest in it so I learned the card game so I could teach them. And I've actually enjoyed buying cards and watching the cartoons with them. So far I've bought all my cards at Wal-Mart and I'm pretty sure the old ladies that stock the shelves won't be going through the boxes to pull out the good packs. And they have a different kind of pack besides those ones...they have an extra bit of cardboard packaging around the pack so they can be hung on a hook rack. And most of the packs I have opened have been inside those tins that contain an EX card. Or a box that has a certain card and has 3-4 packs with it. I pulled a cool Dragonite EX that was colorless type which I thought was cool because it would go good in any deck...and it looks cool. And I pulled a Mewtwo Ex. I've pulled a couple other cool looking cards but I can't really use them because I need energy of a certain type and cards to compliment them. Like an Yveltal Break I got. I ended up buying a theme deck that had Dark type cards just so I could get that type of energy. But I still need the regular Yveltal if I want to use the Break card. And I feel bad when my kids ask if they can have these cards and I say no because really they are their cards but they're careless. My father in law gave them stacks of original Pokemon cards and they're all bent up and wrecked now. Some of them had 1998-1999 dates on them.

I work for a shop and once we found out that you can map we mix shuffle whatever the packs so that anyone can have a fair shot. I was the one who found it out when we just opened a new box and a customer started counting. So I figured he was mapping.
