I've been with honk for a month or so now. Pros: They pay with credit card or you can set up direct deposit which is nice to avoid CC fees. Money is deposited in the bank next day. You can also set your own rates within the desktop version dashboard. I also have higher rates than those in my area because I know what I'm worth and I know my company will outlast those who are out here doing $50 tows. SMH to you guys, you know who you are. If you have the app set up, you don't have to answer phone calls which is nice when it gets busy. Cons: When a digital dispatch comes in, they request you to select a driver before you have ANY information. They don't tell you where its at, what kind of car, NOTHING. I will get a digital that says I'm only 15 minutes away but Honk doesn't know that I'm loaded or that I have another car and they have never accepted my call when I select an ETA over the time I am away from said call. Sometimes when a call comes in, the app doesn't work properly and it won't allow me to choose a driver. It's like the option is there but it doesn't register. I've made them aware of this multiple times and they don't seem to do anything about it. You have to pay attention to whether it's a flatbed request or not. I took a call for an AWD and I used dollies and requested payment for dollies along with the video you're required to send. It wasn't until hours after job completion that they refused approval and wouldn't pay me for the use of dollies. You can't have separate flatbed rates and wrecker rates which isn't great in my opinion. There is no live dispatcher to talk to if you ever need to get a hold of them with any issue. I had my rates set at 70 to hook, 3 free miles, and 2.50 per mile loaded. Because of the cons and them refusing to pay me for a job that was already done, I have increased my rates to 80/hook, 3 free miles, and 5 per mile loaded. I don't go to calls over 10 miles out of my range because they don't pay en-route mileage. I also don't do any AWD or anything that might require dollies or a flatbed. My average rate they payout to me is around $100 per call but lately it's been more like $110. Another bad thing about Honk is that when you bid on a job, (I always submit my current rate because the "take job now" option pays about half of what it's worth) it takes a couple minutes because they continue to search for a provider that will beat your price and time. So in the meantime, I will get a call from someone else who pays cash and I give them an ETA because Honk hasn't given me the job yet. I will go to my cash call and on my way there, Honk can't find a better provider and they give me the call. So the end result is that I go to my cash call then do the Honk call and then I get a bad rating because they want to pick and choose and drag their feet trying to save a dollar. First Come, First Serve. I treat all my customers the same. I'm not going to refuse calls while I wait for Honk to send me a message saying I've won the bid. Half the time they don't send me the call anyway because of the bottom feeders that do it for cheap. IDC. I treat Honk like the motor clubs. I do them when it's convenient for me and my business. Overall, I will continue to do business with Honk but they will get treated like motor clubs until they change a few things. I hope this helps someone out there and for those of you doing tows for cheap, you're not only hurting the industry, buy you're killing your business.

Im out of Philadelphia and been dealing with Honk for a couple of years. Your absolutely right as far as them wanting you to do jobs for little to nothing. I used the same tactics showing a lower rate then calling back in to adjust it. A lot of these other companies is F#cking the game up for the real hustlers. Some companies are doing tows for $30 dollar hook rates 😂
We need a nationwide (Towing Union) that would set a certified rate for every city for hook rates and soft services to challenge these companies and to make the game of Towing and Roadside based off of Quality of services.
We need to understand as Towing companies that we have all the leverage! The tactics of these companies like Agero and down the line are brilliant because they force us to bid the price down in their favor and their just the middle man. I can go on and on .
Peace and Blessings to you Bro keep doing these videos and much success
Honk does pay on time every time tho 💯

Honk is not bad to work with I definetly recommend working with them. Only advice I can give is to get signatures. I changed a customers tire and the spare was low on air so he called into his insurance company they cancelled the call after I completed the service. I didn't get any notification that the call was cancelled until I tried to submit the PO. I had to file a claim with accounts payable. I did have the vin number from towbook so that helped but they payed it after I stopped taking any calls for a few days. I feel as a motor club or 3rd party dispatcher that's their job to make sure the customer know if he/she has a GOOD spare tire. They are a motor club they do work with some smaller insurance companies as I ask my customers who they called to get help.

Hey you forgot to cover the GOA fees they only pay $20 no matter where it is , the last 3 calls we did for them were GOA because they take so long with the customer waiting on the side of the road hours and hours because there calling around trying to get the lowest price then when they dispatch and we get out to the job under our eta customer is gone then you have to call back in to get a GOA and fight them for hours talking to supervisors trying to get more than $20 bucks out of a GOA what’s your experience with the GOA’s?

I cant understand how auto clubs think they can pay us rates cheaper than we were doing them 25 years ago. Our local tow rate here averages about 75 dollars. Some are 100 dollars. But honk wants us to do them under 45 dollars.. we were towing cars for that in 1992. Whats your opinion on this?

    • @towuniverse2443
      @towuniverse2443  4 года назад +1

Your absolutely right. The rates that are being offered are from the early 90's. As long as providers keep running them for peanuts, we will never win the fight. Wait until congress passes the legislation to increase Liability insurance to 2 million. A lot of those $45 dollar companies are going to go under quickly.

Just here recently a towing company moved here from Texas. From my understanding Agero asked them to come here and run. They have money to back them. They have put 5 new trucks here. I know one of the drivers for them and he showed me his digital dispatch. On of his tows stood out to me it was a 8 mile tow his company did for $37.00. I couldn't believe it. I told him they can have them for that rate. They run him across 5 counties for those prices.. I'm at a loss for words I don't know how they can stay in business like that. I mean we have 3 trucks but I can't justify doing them that cheap.

They should be a nation wide minimum 100 dollar on hook charge that's set by federal law for motor clubs using independent tow contractors that meet there minimum insurance requirements.
1 million auto 1 million commercial liability and 150k on hook
Also they should be competition laws preventing local city governments from using only a certain number of tow business that are part of a racket for all the traffic accident calls like in Las vegas nevada
it causes a monopoly business in the area and snuffs out competition.
it costs so much to insure and have the right coverage to operate a tow business and if your providing a service that meets the requirements of the motor club then you should paid a rate that allows you to operate at a fair profit
If agreo were under paying there staff the minimum living wage then they would be litigation
The same sould apply to motor clubs contractors
Uber drives did it and lobbied for change uber pay there drives insurance and they have small over head compared to a tow business
So why cant the tow community club together in the face book groups social media and get enough petitions together to lobby for change
