damn we always knew shanks was kind of a big shot, but...
like remember back when usopp joined? usopp said like "what? my dad(yasopp) is with shanks??? he is with an amazing pirate like him???"
and then we saw mihawk casually speak with shanks. talking about battling in the past. and we knew(i think) that shanks was not a warlord like him.
and now, after effing 300+ episodes, we learn that he is one of the 4 greatest pirates alive today???
and this guy put all his hopes on Luffy man. SO DOPE.

This is why I love One Piece. Seeing seemingly unimportant or minor characters early on only for them to turn out to be powerful and influencial.
That said, Garp is one of my favorite characters on the Marine's side along with Smoker and Coby.

lmfaooo 313 is one of the episodes i like seeing reactors react to. Actually, every in between of major arcs, where they show how the world outside the strawhats are doing, is pretty hype i love it!
Also, the Monkeys randomly sleeping at inappropriate times come from a real neurological disorder called Narcolepsy, from what i can remember.
So if I remember correctly, originally shanks wasn’t supposed lose an arm. But the editors felt that it wasn’t enough to push luffy so they recommended that oda change it to shanks losing an arm to make more of an impact on luffy. Shanks was still supposed to he strong in that time

Shichibukai is the Seven Warlords of the Sea. So basically Garp was telling them that they need the marines and the warlords both to counter the Yonkou/Four Emperors. And about Shanks losing his arm. Maybe he arrived at the last second and just didn't want to risk Luffy at all. Or he wanted to give Luffy more motivation and didn't mind losing an arm for that. Luffy did only announce he wanted to be Pirate King because of that event.
No wonder Luffy is so strong lol it's in his genes :P

Shanks facing the sea snake was in the first chapter of the manga - in the anime it was later. 1st chapters are supposed to have a big impact, so Oda's editor was like "ey yo make him lose an arm or some shit for that big OMPH", which is why Shanks lost an arm to a thing even Luffy could OHKO.
So this is what it feels like to watch One Piece without beforehand knowledge of the Monkey D. Family lol

One thing y’all need to get used to is the party they be throwing after the arc, makes you want to party but Water 7 was one of the best arcs. But Aokiji’s closure w Nico Robin was great as well
robin explained 3 groups at 28:24:
- the world government, which includes the gorosei (the 5 old dudes)
- pirates, which include the 4 yonkou (emperors)
- revolutionary army (led by dragon)
so no, dragon is not one of the 4 yonkou because he is not a pirate
the only special case is the 7 shichibukai (mihawk, crocodile, etc). theyre pirates who work under the government

It also takes from what otherwise it could have been a very heartfelt and emotional moment.
I think 911 was at this time and that is why Oda made Pell alive. It was a Hard time back then and Oda didn't want to remind people of dead people because of a Bomb.

Shanks is a yonko but lost his arm to a fodder sea king, it's because Oda wanted to end One Piece around 200+ chapters and introduce the four emperors early but as the series became longer he made the yonko more powerful which is contradicted by Shanks being able to lose a limb so easily, meanwhile we're suppose to believe he's strong enough to take on others who's bodies are indestructible by comparison.
No Shanks said himself he bet his arm on the new generation he purposely lost his arm so Luffy can be more driven

Since you already found out in the last couple of episodes that Shanks in a Yonkou it makes total sense he was part of Roger's crew. And Buggy isn't as meaningless as you first thought.

I think I read that Garp wore that dog mask for a long time cuz he wanted to hide his face and identity so that people in the marines wouldnt realize that he is Luffy's grandfather since Luffy is a pirate. He wanted to protect Luffy but if people knew they were related then he wouldn't be able to do much behind the scenes and people would suspect him if he ever did help Luffy. But after their connection was revealed he stops wearing it
