    It’s actually over 34 million wasted. Labour in Wales are two years behind their own date in the treatment of cancer, so why waste this huge amount of money when issues like this are far more important. Bearing in mind that these 20mph speed areas were already at 30mph, which was slow enough for safety! They also completely ignored a report country wide which found there is no safety difference between 20mph and 30mph statistically. And Drakeford doesn’t even drive!…..you couldn’t make it up! 20 mph limits make sense , in certain circumstances such stretches of roads , outside schools , hospitals , old folks homes & busy village ,town & city high streets . Also on residential housing estates . It’s. no great hardship to reduce speed to 20 mph for short distances . If I can do it on a motorcycle , it should be easy for those driving a car , just press down less on the fuel pedal & stop messing around with tech gadgets & concentrate on road & speed .

    • @pauldavies1710
      @pauldavies1710 2 месяца назад

      @@maskedavenger2578 No one would argue with that but 30 mph is a limit not a target. Most road users read the road, take note of warning signs for schools, concealed entrances etc. People who would abuse that and drive recklessly will ignore speed limits anyway. Focus on catching them and not making a fast buck over people who have hit 23mph in a 20 zone

    • @maskedavenger2578
      @maskedavenger2578 2 месяца назад

      @@jeremykille4689 I agree a lot of the stretches where 20 mph limits are in effect ,is ridiculous & badly thought out making no sense . But the places pointed out on my initial comment such as short distances outside schools ,hospitals ,busy high street & residential areas , I don’t see any problem & even in some rare cases, maybe a justification for even lower than 20 mph limits . The problem is the blanket introduction in areas where it makes no sense & the overly long stretches on some roads ,where it isn’t necessary . Back in the day I was hit by a car whilst on the way home from my primary school. Luckily back in those times we had more thoughtful & less selfish drivers .& i only received slight injury’s ,as the car was traveling a lot less than 30 mph outside my old school . I find most drivers these days do at least 10 mph over the speed limits ,unless a speed camera is present , so the 20 mph limits are only really reducing most drivers to 30 mph in any case in reality .

      @maskedavenger2578 2 месяца назад

      @@pauldavies1710 I never said speed limits were a target , people should drive or ride slower than posted speed limit , if conditions warrant it . Also vehicle speedometers tend to read at least 5 mph & even more over actual speed ,so there isn’t really any excuse for being nicked for doing 23 in a 20 limit . The plod & the powers that be, aren’t interested in you reading the road , they are more interested in you reading the Highway Code & the Speed limit signage & doing you ,if you transgress any laws or regulations .

    I drove around Wales earlier this year and only found 1 road where I actually thought 20mph was the right limit for a short distance. Main road narrow with tight bend and pedestrians the rest clearly were too slow and being ignored by the majority

    I'll believe this WHEN I SEE IT!! People drive at 20 mph in 30 , 40 and even 50 mph zones. It's chaos!

    Problem is it spread to the Wirral in Merseyside too we now spend more time driving being followed by road rage loons if you follow the 20mph limit,and we have 100 yards of 30mph then it switches to 20mph it's awful my car hates driving in 2nd gear and revving it's nuts off in 2ndall day long around town.

    I live in the North east of England and the council introduced a 20 mph limit on all roads in our town 8 years ago at the time i thought it was crazy on all roads but we have getting used to it and i now appreciate how much more safer it is for pedestrians and car users to travel at 20 mph instead of 30 mph and with modern technology in cars such as speed limiters it is much easier to stick to.

    There is no such thing as the 10% tolerance, the speed limit is the speed limit. Staffordshire has a zero tolerance, I attended a speed awareness course and there were two women who were there for doing 31 mph in a 30 mph zone!

    • @feydespiel.
      @feydespiel. 2 месяца назад

      It depends on the area...the 10% was for the speedo error..given that all cars are different, and a speedometer doesn't take into account tyre wear... new tyres mean it's as close to the true speed as possible...I used to deliver to police garages in the Yorkshire area...the amount of half worn tyres piled up was unreal...I asked what was wrong with them..the reply was they were changing when half worn because the calibrated speedo would be inaccurate...that's a calibrated speedo...what chance do we have with the inaccurate stock speedo..?.. GPS speedos are much better

    Fines for 20 zones should now be repaid, points removed and licences returned with compensation. And no extra funding for the councils that wasted this money. Politicians that supported this crap should pay for the losses to send a message to councils across the uk thinking about implementing this anti freedom rubbish…

  • @SimonBlandford

    This is why we really don't want speed limiters mandated in cars. It would remove any possibility of a speed limit being "unenforcable" and the government could then race all our speed limits to zero whilst ensuring complete compliance. 20 mph on motorways, anyone?

    Nick's joke about his Lambo is more correct than he thinks. In the late '80s/early '90s I was working in a bank in the middle of Manchester, where the manager commuted to work (in average 15mph traffic) every day in his Ferrari. One of the jobs of the "messengers" (older guys who ran the mail room) was to clean the oiled-up spark plugs on the Ferrari as soon as it cooled down so that it would start again when he went to go home.
    (I used a 500cc motorbike for work. I used to encounter my boss, on his 80cc scooter, almost every day, and he was usually faster through the traffic than I was.)

    This was always a disaster and the kremlin dwellers down in the Bay know it.
