Highlander romances are so fucking good. As a Scottish woman, I find it super disheartening when I finish a novel then walk through the area or travel to the Highlands, and none of the men there compare. I wish we could bring back traditional Highland culture 😭 I could be living with rugged kilted men who speak Gaelic right now!!! But no. Scammed by our history.
I love Highlander/Scottish romances!!! I grew up reading them so love love love seeing more people loving them!! Julie Garwood, Joanna Lindsey, and Hannah Howell are staples in our household. I'm excited to see more authors that I need to find and try out. Thanks for the recs!
I also love the highlander series by Karen Marie Moning, it is a time travel scottish romance. I would also recommend the merriweather sisters time travel series by Cynthia Luhrs, Immortal Highlander by hazel hunter, and Highland Brides series by Lynsay Sands.
I enjoyed the Highlander series by Lyndsay Sands. 1st book ok but it really starts cooking with book 2 and there you meet the family the rest of the books are based on.
Maya Banks' Never Seduce A Scot was the 1st Scottish historical romance I ever read.. I'd also recommend Elisa Braden's Midnight in Scotland series. There are only 2 books in the series so far. They're so good.
I can really recommend the Rhanna series by Christine Marion Fraser. It’s set on a Scottish island and is a series about the love interests of the islanders with some adventure and mystery. I’m not sure if they are still in print but can really recommend them if you can get hold of them!
I love the MacKenzies. I grabbed all the brothers books but haven’t read any but Ian yet. The Bride and The Secret were the first Scottish romances I ever read. Lol I thought the same thing about Daphne when you said that.
Hi! I am looking to get into Highlander romances, but I find it a difficult genre to navigate when I don't want any abuse or rape (or lack of consent), no cheating/thoughts of cheating, and also no pain in connection to sex (like the "virgin on her wedding night always hurts" trope). That last point is where "Never Seduce a Scot" fell from favour for me (that is the only Highlander Romance I have tried). I also prefer low angst romances, and I love arranged marriage/marriage of convenience tropes. I also love reading about women learning to become strong ladies of the castle and being good at the business of running a castle and supply lines for possible wars and such. I know that last part isn't strictly romance, but if you know of a romance that possibly stretches into the wife becoming really good at her new job, that would be great. Oh wow, I wrote a whole paragraph on what I am looking for, but I am hoping you have some recommendations for me. Possibly an author I could trust to not have any of my no-go topics in their books. Perfectly fine if you draw a blank on this, just wanted to try!

A Gentle Feuding - JL
I know this isn't a historical romance but have you heard of Bad Boys In Kilts by Donna Kaufman?
I have not! I like modern Scottish books too!! 😍😍
Still waiting for book 9 in the Outlander series.
