Luke Henning hey man! Thank you for watching! It’s really to taste, but by measurement, here is what we have recorded: Usual Suspects 1tbs salt 3/4 tbs pepper 1/2 onion powder 1 tbs garlic powder 1/2 tbs Adobo 1 tbs accent. Use liberally/ to taste

What's up brother!? Thank you so much for watching! In the vid we did cutlets, but they cooked so well on my 36" that Brett said a thicker one may have worked better! Something to keep in mind. Take care man!
Right!? When Brett originally told me about brine, I never thought it would legit work, but it totally does! We can tell that our pickles are different from CFA, and they use peanut oil, we just used veg, but the flavor profile is there!

Boom baby! Yes! As soon as we saw a recommendation, Brett told me he knew how to do it, and worked it to perfection on the Blackstone! Thank you so much for the recommendation man!
I like how you weren’t afraid to critique that there was too much seasoning and to back off it. A lot of cooking shows never admit that cooking new recipes is trial and error and you have to just play around with it.
Thank you so much for watching and for chiming in! We’ve found that we have to be honest with ourselves and our audience - we have amazing successes, but we’re willing to admit where it needs help to keep others informed of the best way to do it. Take care!🤙🤙
Wow, no thumbs down? Surprised there was no bacon involved🤣lol, love you guys HERE UP IN NJ. I use a lot of pan searing flour I sell at my grocery store . Its white flour with seasonings already in. I think I'll try that. Great cook boys
Hey Marcy!🤗🤗 Adobo is an amazing seasoning, beloved by Hispanics. It is found in the Hispanic food section (although it may only be a southern thing). Thank you so much for always showing support!
Hi guys. Looks absolutely awesome and u have my mouth watering. Could u please post that recipe. I was wondering about your seasoning in the small shaker. Thanks! I enjoy your show. Keep on keeping on! Tom
Love your channel, last Christmas I got a royal gourmet griddle absolutely loved it. For Father’s Day my wife got me the 36 inch Blackstone griddle pro needless to say I’m in love with it. I seasoned it 45 times with olive oil, and I was just wondering if you guys ever had problems with some food sticking in certain spots? I made grilled chicken breast the other day and I don’t know if the temperature was too hot but definitely had in the middle area some stickiness. Just wondering if you had any suggestions? The griddle top is completely black all over so I know it’s perfectly seasoned
Hey man! Thanks so much for watching and for the support! Did you lay down oil before the chicken? Sometimes I find that food sticks, I just try to make sure I use more oil. Also, maybe use a different oil to mix it up, see if that helps. Let us know!
WALTWINS Thank you for your response! Did lay down oil, olive oil maybe I just needed to add a little bit more. I noticed on the right and left side there’s no sticking just in the middle. Thank you for your advice I will definitely try a different oil keep up the great work on your channel. Definitely love the Orlando area thinking of moving the family down there within the next couple of years
Awesome Gary! That would be so cool! Brett and I get together every other week to cut videos, when we get together, we’ll reach out and work on something!🤙🤙
Thank you so much for watching man! Great call, we love buying the CFA and Polynesian sauces! In fact, both are in the fridge now! Honestly, have no idea why we didn't include them! :D
Hey guys- another great one. Have a question - (I paused the video at 6:15 to ask) when leveling your Blackstone, do you find it better for the front or the back to be slightly elevated? I would think dead-on flat would be ideal but the griddle top itself isn't perfectly flat. How do you guys set this up, tilt back or tilt forward?
Thank you so much for watching and showing the love! At first, because our patio is not level, I struggled with the oil racing to the back. It was recommended that I put washwers on the pegs of the griddle itself and that worked amazingly! I originally had 4 one each of the back pegs, but have since moved 2 from the left back, to the front right peg because we moved the griddle. Because they are so small, you can use several to get the level you want. Hope this helps!
@@waltwins Thanks! Yes helps a lot! The 22 I have has adjustable legs so adjustment is a snap. I had it tilted slightly back but I think I'll reverse that. I'm using that Royal Gourmet Double-Shelf rolling cart on the "A" site so level management is a must. Brett you might like this cart the 22 fits nicely on it and there's an attachment to hang a propane tank. Hey sorry to ramble on :) Thanks again!!!
Oh wow, that makes us so happy! We always love when people give these recipes a try - we really love doing this and sharing what we learn. Thank you for watching and chiming in!🤙🤙
I’m liking this recipe! Great use for all the empty jars of pickles my husband leaves in the fridge! Lol Brett your so funny doing the “hambone” finger snaps from the 1980’s! That’s sooooo central Florida!!! All the kids did that in my neighborhood!! 😂 It went along with the leg slap too!! Slow the viewers the rest!! 😎
Hey guys. Love your videos. Here's a copycat CHICK-FIL-A Sauce. Mix together 1/4 cup honey, 2 Tblspns yellow mustard, 1/4 cup barbecue sauce, 1/2 cup mayo and 1 Tblspn lemon juice. Combine ingredients and refrigerate for at least an hour before using. I love this sauce. Enjoy.
Love CFA! They have VERY good sandwiches. Popeyes has a good one as well, but CFA is still our favorite. The fries are very good too! Love those waffles fries. Great cooking guys. Really appreciate it. Again, made me hungry and in the mood for a CFA sandwich. I can smell if from here. Hope you can get to a good Patty Melt sometime. I would love to see that on a Blackstone. Hope you two are having a good weekend. The chicken looked great. Take care and God bless! Griddle On!!
OOh, great suggestion! Brett suggested we add a patty melt to our list of cooks - maybe we'll try to get on that one sooner rather than later! Thanks so much as always fam!
Finally someone who’s wise to the pickle brine! :) Those sandwiches look great and honestly looks better that chick fil eh? Hah. Excellent job my brothers!
That’s a great question! We’ve not seen that done, but I’m not sure why it couldn’t - when a hot dog becomes a corn dog, you are essentially just reheating the already cooked meat - maybe something worth trying!🤙🤙🤙
Do you actually buy pickle juice somewhere or do you have a lot of jars of "juiceless pickles" sitting in your refrigerator? Also, can you give proportions of you seasoning mix, please?
Hello! So sorry for the late response! We used juice right from a pickle jar - although we have used pickle juice purchased without pickles. We don't make this recipe enough to have a lot of jars of juicless pickles :P however, the huge jars from Costco/Sam's club yield a ton of juice! :D We pinned a comment at the top with the recipe, and honestly, we have the "Usual Suspects" in a shaker, and so measurement is "to taste." Typically when we make the seasoning, it is as follows: 1 tbs salt 1/2 tbs pepper 1/2 tbs onion powder 1tbs garlic powder 1/2 tbs Adobo 1tbs Accent. Hope this helps! :D
It’s so funny that a lot of people think chick-fil-a puts there chicken in a pickle brine mix before preparing. It’s not true. I worked for chick-fil-a since 2000. We do not put our chicken in a pickle brine mix. Number one. Some people are allergic to pickles. The chicken comes season with spices that’s it. No pickle brine mix. Then we put the chicken in milk wash. Then from there we put it in our seasoned coater no pickle brine mix. Then we cook in a pressure fryer in peanut oil at 325 degrees for 3 in half minutes. Then when it is ready. We put the chicken in a pan. Then we take a white bun and butter the top and bottom unless a customer request no butter. Then we put two pickles on the bottom of the bun unless a customer request no pickles. Then we put the sandwich in a foil bag and that’s it.
Thanks for watching and the input. We realize Chick-fil-A doesn’t use pickles in the brine - most copycat recipes call for it. We followed the copycats to try to get as close as we could (since the recipe is a secret). This was simply an attempt to give another way to make the delicious sandwich. Cheers.🤙🤙
I love the knock-off recipes videos and this looked amazing and who doesn't like Chick-fil-a?!?!?...I wasn't sure about the fried chicken on such a flat area as usually you engulf the chicken in grease...did you notice a difference in conventional v. griddle fried chicken?
Yes sir! And I am now seeing your other response… we have been told that they don’t use pickle juice, but try this, and tell us we are wrong!🤣 Thank you so much for watching! Griddle on!!!😁🤙❤️
Thank you so much for watching! I believe we used peanut oil! If not it was vegetable oil (if we did, it would have been because we were out of peanut oil - which is what Chick-fil-A uses). Take care!
Add a touch of powder sugar to your flour and it truly will taste like chick fil a. Because theirs a hint of sweetness. Anyways thanks for the great videos.
Love it! It’s so funny, when I shared your comment with Brett he said “wait, we didn’t use any?!” Apparently, he normally does! I can’t wait to try again! We are doing nuggets soon, we won’t forget the powdered sugar!🤙🤙
Haha! Yay! We love them. These were a gift from Chad at Dreamwood Jewlery - you can actually reach out to him @ Dreamwoodshop.com in the “contact us” section.🤙🤙
Yo guys I have a lil food gig called Lunchboxxx I do wild foods that I create or recreate what type of pickle juice do you brine chicken in is it just a dill juice?
That sounds awesome!! Yes, this is Mt. Olive brand dill pickles (the hamburger dill chips) - although I’ve stated repeatedly (to Brett), that if we were out west, I think the Nalley brand hamburger dill chip juice would be incredible!
Thank you so much for watching! The breading should totally cover the whole chicken and the egg, forming some protection for the egg so it doesn’t burn - was there some of the egg exposed?
Thank you for watching - we’ve done the cooks several times and ensure it is safe to eat - internal temp reaches minimum 165 before we pull and rest. Take care!🤙🤙
Thank you so much for watching. Not sure if you caught it after we tested the sandwiches, it was what we discussed, and what Brett mentioned he has done in the past - to put the seasonings in with the flour.
Thank you so much for watching! Yes! The shallow fry mimics the deep fry in each side, so in a deep fry, everything should be the same, minus the flip! Hope this helps! Take care!🤙🤙
I read the recipe you listed, it does not match what you said on the video. You never mentioned buttermilk. What is in the egg wash? Also you didn’t mention powered sugar. So plz what is the complete breakdown of ingredients Cathi Keel
Hi Carhi! We apologize for any confusion. When we began doing cooks, we initially didn’t not post recipes. When we went back to place them, we must have put the same ingredients from the nuggets for our sandwich. We did not use powdered sugar in the sandwich cook, and the egg wash was just eggs and milk. Again, our apologies, it is never our intent to confuse or mislead! Take care!
@@waltwins So is everything else on the ingredient list accurate other than the buttermilk and powdered sugar? I noticed the baking powder isn't on the list. Thanks for the videos. They are all awesome.
@@victormoreno1933 Hi Victor! The best we could suggest, is to use the recipe from our chick-fil-a nuggets cook, but instead of the nuggets doing the chicken breast. Unfortunately, we did this cook before we were keeping track of our recipes - so sorry!! If you have any other questions too, feel free to reach out to us through FB messenger (WALTWINS) or Instagram (@waltwins2). Take care!🤙🤙
maybe i'm just too new england but i've only been to chick-fil-a once and didn't like it. i've never had pickles on breaded chicken except for that one time and it threw me way off haha! anyway, another good vid dudes! :D
Oh ya, it could be a total surprise! This is considered a souther style chicken sandwich, they are really big down here in Florida (and throughout the south). We love them, but you gotta be a fan of pickles. :P. Thanks so much for watching!
@@waltwins oh i totally get that dude. i actually kinda think i would've liked it if somebody told me there was pickle in it. back in school we used to get basically a tyson chicken patty on a bun and you could put ketchup or mayo on it lol. lettuce, tomato, and bacon is also very kewl. i think i was just traumatized haha!
For the is cook? Or in general? We put a good amount in the flour for this one. For general, we love it on chicken, pork, beef when we are making our fajitas or street tacos, we add Tajin to it… so good!! Thank you so much for watching! Griddle on!!!😁❤️🤙
So, you think the pickle juice is the crack that has us all addicted? I only taste pickle when I get to the pickle. Maybe my taste buds are shot. Can't wait for yall to take on their nuggets!!!
Thank you so much for watching! Chick Fil A has never admitted that the pickle juice is their secret ingredient (but they haven’t denied it either😜) - to us, these are really close! They also use peanut oil which gives it a different flavor. We’re still working on it!🤙🤙
I like your videos, but really, yall just made a fried chicken sandwich..it's not even close to a Chick-fil-a. As you said in the video...it's not thick and juicy like a Chick-fil-a. My son worked at a Chck-fil-a in high school for two years. He said there was no pickle brine...i think that's a myth that gets spread.
Thanks for watching, this tastes very similar. We are absolutely positive CFA has a completely different process for making this. It’s a copycat recipe, not the real thing, nor do we claim it to be. CFA keeps their secret ingredients under lock-and-key, and will not deny that they use the pickle juice. Regardless, again, we never claimed it was “the” CFA sandwich, simply our take, which is why we are always clear, it’s “our take.” Again, thanks so much for watching!🤙🤙
Your recipe does not match the video. The ingredients in the video do not include buttermilk, bread crumbs and powdered sugar. The ingredients in the recipe do not include eggs. Other than that it looks good and I will try it tonight
You are correct! When we originally uploaded this video, we were not in the practice of uploading the recipe - after this video, we also recorded the nuggets version - and copied that recipe (assuming it was the same) - but failed to recognize we had changed the recipe. Our apologies! Thank you for watching though! Take care!🤙🤙

The recipe for this cook:
4 Chicken breast cutlets, or two chicken breasts butterlied
2 cups all purpose flour
1 tsp baking powder
2-3 cups pickle juice for the brine
2 eggs
Usual Suspects - Salt, Pepper, Garlic Powder, Onion Powder, Adobo and Accent. Add these to taste.
Brine the chicken in a bowl in the fridge with the pickle juice for 2-3 hours, and make sure you pay as dry as you can before dressing them.
What kind of buns do you recommend, potato, king Hawaiian?
Great question! Any that are larger - gourmet style buns seem to work best - we have really been liking Publix buns, as well as Sara Lee's Brioche Artisano buns.
What proportions do you use for the Usual Suspects?
Luke Henning hey man! Thank you for watching! It’s really to taste, but by measurement, here is what we have recorded:
Usual Suspects
1tbs salt
3/4 tbs pepper
1/2 onion powder
1 tbs garlic powder

Brett your so funny doing the “hambone” finger snaps from the 1980’s! That’s sooooo central Florida!!! All the kids did that in my neighborhood!! 😂 It went along with the leg slap too!! Slow the viewers the rest!! 😎
Haha, yes!! Brett actually buys pickle juice and has it shipped - he loves the stuff!!🤣🤣. Are you from central Florida?!
Nicely done
Woot woot! Thank you so much!😄😄
Enjoy.
Oh yes!! Thank you so much for watching and for this recipe - Renee saving this one for sure!! Take care!😄😄🤙🤙
@@waltwins Look forward to it! Have a good night gentleman! Griddle On!
perhaps using the spat would have resulted in more of the breading staying on as opposed to using the tongs. either way...great cook guys!!
Yes!! That is definitely key - for some reason, something we forget, even still!!😂😂🤦♂️🤦♂️ - thank you so much for watching!
I’ll definitely have to try this but I love things spicy so I mights use jalapeños instead of pickles and add some pepperjack cheese
Oh that would be good! More like the spicy chicken sandwich. Thank you so much for watching!🔥🔥🤙🤙
I want to try this
Thank you so much! This one was delicious!🤙🤙
Your welcome
This was soooo delicious! Amazing recipe and I don’t even like pickles!
Thank you so much for watching! Lol, then it must really be good if you still like, even with the pickle juice!!😄😄🤙🤙
Question: why does my breading come off when it’s cooking? One came off in a whole sheet like a chicken toupee! 🤣
It's hard to beat chik filet....it's a home-made deal so I bet this will be the bomb
Finally someone who’s wise to the pickle brine! :) Those sandwiches look great and honestly looks better that chick fil eh? Hah. Excellent job my brothers!
Boom!! Heck yes!! And with the official nod of approval from King Pickle, we know we did it right!😜. Thanks so much man, we really appreciate it!
Can you ever cook the chicken or steak or pork filet on the griddle first and then dip in batter and then fry the outside on the griddle again?
That’s a great question! We’ve not seen that done, but I’m not sure why it couldn’t - when a hot dog becomes a corn dog, you are essentially just reheating the already cooked meat - maybe something worth trying!🤙🤙🤙
Looks great but is that flower or baking powder?
Flour
Do you actually buy pickle juice somewhere or do you have a lot of jars of "juiceless pickles" sitting in your refrigerator? Also, can you give proportions of you seasoning mix, please?
Hello! So sorry for the late response! We used juice right from a pickle jar - although we have used pickle juice purchased without pickles. We don't make this recipe enough to have a lot of jars of juicless pickles :P however, the huge jars from Costco/Sam's club yield a ton of juice! :D We pinned a comment at the top with the recipe, and honestly, we have the "Usual Suspects" in a shaker, and so measurement is "to taste." Typically when we make the seasoning, it is as follows:
1 tbs salt
1/2 tbs pepper
1/2 tbs onion powder
1tbs garlic powder
1/2 tbs Adobo
1tbs Accent.
Hope this helps! :D
you can make your own pickle juice in like 2 minutes....
Can't wait to make Chick-Fil-A sandwiches. Thought they had either butter or mayo on them!
So good!! They don’t use either, but the Popeye sandwiches do. Having said that, you could always add it! Take care!😄😄🤙🤙
Love it 👍👍👍
Thank you so much brother!!🤙🤙🔥🔥
Oh yum 😋
💙💙🔥🔥
Another Idea for a church social thank you
For sure! This one is so good, thank you so much for watching!🤙🤙
Live & Learn......watching you....looks good. That seasoning/breading process goes better with the two of you......breading is always messy.
Haha! So true! It’s messy, but so worth it. Thank you, brother!🤙🤙
Cheers.🤙🤙
Boys, amazing recipe! But remember, pickles on the bottom!
Haha! Yes! Next time for sure fam!😂😂🔥🔥
Lol...hubby does that same finger snap🤣
Haha! Brett does it every time! It’s his “seal of approval” for the good cooks.😜
I love the knock-off recipes videos and this looked amazing and who doesn't like Chick-fil-a?!?!?...I wasn't sure about the fried chicken on such a flat area as usually you engulf the chicken in grease...did you notice a difference in conventional v. griddle fried chicken?
Honestly not really! I told Brett afterward that it cooked well enough we probably could have used a thicker cut of chicken! 🤙🤙
Did you use Dill pickle juice or??? Thanks
Yes sir! And I am now seeing your other response… we have been told that they don’t use pickle juice, but try this, and tell us we are wrong!🤣
Thank you so much for watching! Griddle on!!!😁🤙❤️
How long do i marinate the cutlets in brine?
Thank you so much for watching! We typically try to aim for two hours - as few as 30 will work! Take care and good luck!🤙🤙
Nice! What oil did you guys use?
HEY, I want some of those Waltwins cutting/serving boards!
Haha! Yay! We love them. These were a gift from Chad at Dreamwood Jewlery - you can actually reach out to him @ Dreamwoodshop.com in the “contact us” section.🤙🤙
I think the recipe ingredients you posted is for the nuggets
That’s what it is - our apologies.
When will the recipe be added?
Yikes! I can't believe I failed to drop it in the description! Doing now.
We included it in the pinned comment - so sorry we forgot to add it to the description!
I burned the outside.
How do I cook the chicken and not burn the egg batter.
Eggs cook so quick.
Thanks guys.
Thank you so much for watching! The breading should totally cover the whole chicken and the egg, forming some protection for the egg so it doesn’t burn - was there some of the egg exposed?
#griddlelife.
#yaasssss!!!!
Next time, instead of the egg dredge...use apple sauce....I'm not kidding....A.M.A.Z.I.N.G.
Also mix a packet of powder ranch dressing in your pickle brine......thank me later...lol
Oooh! Now we’re intrigued! We will totally do it next time!🤙🤙🔥🔥
Haha!! Yes!! Sounds amazing!!🔥🔥
You mixed the flour and baking soda - and the spices in the shaker
Thank you so much for watching! Are you asking? We used our seasoning in with the flour. Take care!🤙🤙
Might want to check the temp b4 eating
Thank you for watching - we’ve done the cooks several times and ensure it is safe to eat - internal temp reaches minimum 165 before we pull and rest. Take care!🤙🤙
Season the flour guys
Thank you so much for watching. Not sure if you caught it after we tested the sandwiches, it was what we discussed, and what Brett mentioned he has done in the past - to put the seasonings in with the flour.
Fair enough guys@@waltwins
Binge Watching Now. I’ll probably Toast My Buns Thanks Again
Haha! That’s so awesome, thank you!!
Can I do a deep fry for this one
Thank you so much for watching! Yes! The shallow fry mimics the deep fry in each side, so in a deep fry, everything should be the same, minus the flip! Hope this helps! Take care!🤙🤙
Thanks I’m getting the range to combo and I wanted to know
Couldn’t you just put a cast iron pan on the griddle and fry them in that to get the oil a little deeper?
Yup! We wanted to shore that it t can be done.😁
Thank you so much for watching! Griddle on!😁🤙
@@waltwins Thanks. Great video
I read the recipe you listed, it does not match what you said on the video. You never mentioned buttermilk. What is in the egg wash? Also you didn’t mention powered sugar. So plz what is the complete breakdown of ingredients
Cathi Keel
Try putting powdered sugar in flour....just a little.
Thank you so much for watching! Yes!! We actually did the nuggets a couple of months later and used the powdered sugar! Perfection!!🔥🔥😄😄
Sorry didn't read far enough 😅 Dill pickle
When do you use the usual suspects seasoning?
We’re still working on it!🤙🤙
🍹🍺😉😁
😄😄😉🤙
im glad i dont have a twin cause if they died i knew id be next soon
Interesting.... welp, thanks for watching.
I got you lol
🤣
For those days you crave Jesus chicken but there closed.
🤣🤣. Hashtag TRUTH!!💪💪
Good to know how to make CFA sandwiches. I refuse to take my family there since that embarrassing shoe brushing stunt the owner pulled.
Thank you so much for watching - ya, figure in public can become controversial, it's nice to know you can knock these out at home now!
I bet Adam came out 1st
Haha! You would think, right?! Brett is actually older! But I always make the point, why was he on bottom, in order to be the first out?! #toptwinforthewin 😉🤙💪
