    In my personal opinion, Chaos Magick is the most raw and primal form of magick. Even if practitioners have no actual magickal education by an experienced sorcerer(ess) would resort to that form of magick unconsciously just out of their own instincts. It's the most natural form of magick that I cann think of.

      My practice is very much science-based, and I didn't realize it but she just described my practice perfectly. I am constantly experimenting with new systems ways. Sigils were what I was originally taught, but then I am constantly studying other lines of thought and ways of doing things and how I can add them into my practice. Funny she should mention creating servitudes and spirits just as I am starting to really research said subject to look into working with them.

    It feels like Thelema is kind of a predecessor of chaos magick, in promoting individualism, syncretism and non-dogmatism. Chaos magick itself then emerged following the related new trends in culture (postmodernism) and science (quantum physics and astronomy).
    Edit: It is also Crowley who writes about carefully recording one's progress, something that later became an important principle of chaos magick.

      thelema is not a predecessor of chaos magick actually. before the magick aos did was given a name, it existed and aos and crowley had the friends to foes dynamic so thelema and chaos magick existed at the same time. in fact, crowley might've "borrowed" some of spare's ideas and techniques so thelema could even be a successor.

    Man, glad u posted this. Chaos magick seemed pretty neat from the outside looking in, but after hearing this description and another from a very leather-jacketed scot, I’ve been doing this practice ever since I was a child!! It had always been very solitary, based in mainly science, martial arts, music, woodcarving (mainly for boomerangs, but alas), and just crazy crazy amounts of research into folk tales, spirituality, religions, and language!
    That makes a lot lot lot more sense, I remember the first synchronism and download when I was in 3rd or 4th grade, and strangely my entire life direction just magically unfolded!
    After that, I just kept doing my thing and music composition ability skyrocketed, along with empathy in droves, universality, Jungian thought, and scary intuition that eventually led me to discovering that magick actually was a ~thing~.
    Anyways, again, sick hat, and thanks for all the ego boosting lol, that was very affirming, and cleans up a lot of questions I had simply through the validity of the practice you had mentioned! Grazie mille 🙏

    Good analysis. I do like the point it isn't *easier* per say. It can be *much much* more involved, since you have options. Since experimentation is core to chaos magick, doing CM "right" [in the IoT style at least] can requires more discipline and regularity around the construction/documentation/evaluation. Coming from a ceremonial background, but taking on more of a CM practice, it is both liberating in terms of creative freedom and more difficult, since performance is not just perfecting what is in the book.

      @wandererkapt 4 года назад +14

      @@jujudiamond97 Chaos magick has root from ceremonial practitioners while eclectic witchcraft is more on folk practice but yes because of its contemporary nature, they tend to go together. Chaos magick is more than just takes thing that work. It encourages you to really look into one system or paradigm and study how it works. Learn the mechanism of a ritual or system them you can use those knowledge to build a system of your own. It is different from say doing both kitchen witchery along with hearth witchcraft along with hoodoo etc. like creating your own sets of rules and mechanism based on what you have learned from different paradigm. *Disclaimer from my own UPG and experience with it*

    • @jujudiamond97
      @jujudiamond97 4 года назад +1

      @@wandererkapt thanks for the info! Do chaos magicians/practitioners ever run into a weird/confusing space because of how they practice multiple rituals that each come from/and are effective within different paradigms? For example, say you explore Wicca and accept the three-fold law, but then next week you work on hexes. When you're in next week and have dropped the system of Wicca, would your hex energy return back to you three-fold? And is the emphasis on trying to arrive at a cohesive unifying understanding of how each paradigm can be true at the same time without negating the validity of another? I'm trying to imagine whether one would encounter contradicting paradigms and how they'd navigate that in terms of their understanding and personal practices.

    • @wandererkapt
      @wandererkapt 4 года назад +8

      @@jujudiamond97 Three fold law is a moral code. For me moral is subjective. And moral doesn’t have any actual applications rather than a code of conduct on how one should act.
      Having said that belief is a powerful tool and if you strongly believe in something, it encourages manifestation to happen, not necessarily cause it but make it easier.
      Belief plays a big role but it’s not the biggest role. You can get result from doing things the right way without having to believe in it. But if you fully believe then the procedure would be much easier and more wholesome. With magick, with its subtle nature is very thought sensitive and not believe would put the mind in an unrest state which will affect your spell work, if you aren’t not fully in the moment you can’t get into the meditative state to access the gnosis trance etc. it is said that belief gives you power. For me personally, it’s more like belief gives to the peace of mind to access the magick

However, I think it builds and after more virtual and meta realities will become a fully separated element. Also, egregor is every religion (there are more to it than, say, fictional pantheons from books - hence, why those don't work the same, but, essentially egregor needs collective mental food to exist here)

      Not really. It has a lot of philosophy about forming reality out of chaos. So I the chaos magick view, when you charge a sigil you are increasing the probability of an outcome, thus shaping the chaos of the future into a given direction. It postulates a chaotic universe rather than an ordered one, and it uses the chaos to get results. That’s an oversimplification but I think that’s why it’s called chaos magick

    I love these abrupt endings. It feels ritualistic in a way, how the video ends after watching and engaging with Georgina somewhat like snapping out of a fever dream.
    I do have to say though, that there is magic and there is magick. What ones goals and intentions are is everything when it comes to practicing and the methodology we use today is far and away different from the sigil sand charms of the past. But like all things in this universe, there is a pattern and it is this pattern that shows us what is effective magick and what is just parlor tricks.
    Ultimately, when talking about sorcery it is best to know psychology and the human mind because the only true magick left is psychosomatic. If you believe it, it’s real enough, if you can make others believe it, then it becomes a bigger “fact”. Manipulation of information changes peoples lives everyday; which is a huge reason why occultism has to be taught in schools.

    I wanna share my experience with a servitor, and i how I came across mine.
    I've never heard of the concept of a servitor, but I feel I've created an entity in my subconscious to help protect and guide me in these deeper, darker, scary planes of thought, like nightmares or anxiety. It's been years, but garhlheht name still rings in my head every once in a while as I go about my day. kinda like an imaginary friend, but one that has this little rent free placeholder in my mind. it's strange, I'm fairly pragmatic/sciency in my views of the occult and magick. that's why I like chaos magick, I recognize the power of the subconscious.
    it was never really my intention, it just happened. initially It was my first and only real attempt at lucid dreaming. didn't even end up actually lucid dream, instead I got into this weird headspace and I began to just speak this word that felt "right" to say, it was like, comfortable to speak it, kinda just let my mouth move on it's own. I deemed it it's name garhlhet and quickly started to give him the form of a dragon. I didn't even end up lucid dreaming, I just made this thing. and even though it was less than an hour I still have not forgotten this entity or experience, years later. I feel like I've really given this entity energy and attention. very much like a sigil.

    The exploring of different traditions & selectively adopting only the aspects which you rationally/empirically judge to be true/legitimate/effective (as opposed to dogmatism, where you just accept everything a tradition claims whole-cloth without critical thinking, on the basis of the authority of the messenger) is called syncretism. IMO it’s the only reasonable way to proceed in esoteric/occult mystical/spiritual philosophy, as well as exploring the far-out reaches of consciousness through psychedelics & the like, because it’s the only way to assure that you keep your critical faculties & skepticism active & stay connected with reality rather than ending up buying into & becoming emotionally committed to your belief in irrational nonsense which is not confluent with scientific evidence or the data of the senses. I was attracted to esotericism in the first place because of texts like the Brahma Sutras, the Yoga Sutras, or Crowley’s Eight Lectures On Yoga, which have a tendency to strip away a lot of the flowery allegory & parable & mythology of religion & just give you the straight philosophy, the metaphysics, the dealing directly with the pursuit of spiritual experience, & the instructions for mystical practice in often unambiguous terms. Of course there are occult texts who take the opposite approach (a lot of Crowley’s writing, or something like the Emerald Tablet of Hermes being prime examples), but they’ve never had the same appeal to me except in their literary value as beautiful esoteric poems. But the practice I developed myself at times has taken chaos magick practices one step further, where I haven’t even felt the need for sigils or anything like that; simple visualization, meditating hard on the locus of the (true) will, focusing intentionality in a certain state of mindful presence, has worked for me. Though I will say, in my own experience I think the effectiveness of these kinds of practices (as well as accurate Tarot/I Ching reading & other processes which IMO likely depend on our capacity to consciously or subconsciously subtly influence the outcomes of quantum processes) depends HEAVILY on the degree of spiritual attunement the individual is experiencing at the time. There are periods where every Tarot reading I did was uncannily accurate & meaningful, where I’ve experienced countless synchronicities over the course of a week, where practices like these seemed to influence my life, & periods where I felt disconnected & distant from all of this. And the pattern that has emerged directs me towards a kind of Taoist/Neo-Platonism/Kabbalist bent to my conception of magick (I have always approached spiritual affairs very syncretically so it shouldn’t be a surprise I’m happy to draw concepts from wherever they originate). When I am living my life, in Kabbalistic terms, in accordance with the spirit/nature of the Light (with the altruistic “will to bestow,” with empathy & compassion & universal love & placing others ahead of my own ego, being a proactive co-creator of my reality rather than stuck in egoistic, reactive emotions like being irritable towards others, jealous, paranoid, self-destructive, etc.), which I would also understand as living in accordance with the will/nature of the Platonic/Neo-Platonic Good, or flowing with the benevolent side of the Tao- the force of nature which has our best interests at heart… If we consider a Brahmanistic/nondualistic conception of the self, where Atman=Brahman, where Atman, the true self of the individual, is Brahman, the ultimate metaphysical reality of God/Nature/Cosmic Mind which underlies all superficially-dualistic illusionary surface appearances, it’s quite as Crowley said- when you pursue your True Will (your dharma or spiritual purpose/role/responsibility in the world, in Hindu terms), you have the universe behind you pushing you along. It’s as if any action against the benevolent will of the Good/the Light requires extra wasted energy to resist & go against, as if you’re pushing into the wind, whereas when you live & act in correspondence with the Good/the Light it allows you to enter a kind of flow state where you’re going *with* the Tao, & so the spiritual/magickal energy of the Good/the Light pushes you along far more effortlessly, a wind in your sails instead of a inertial resistance against your motion. When you are acting in accordance with True Will/the will of the Good/Light, that extra energy you aren’t wasting fighting it seems to become available for use in magickal & socially constructive, altruistic practices. Quite the way the Zohar describes, it’s like the “point of Light in the heart” (our connection, at the center of our consciousness, to the Ein Sof, the transcendent aspect of God, our “soul” & source of free will) expands & more divine light is able to radiate into our lives, supercharging our potential. That has at least certainly been my experience after a couple of years of really being attentive to when my attunement waxes & wanes & what it correlates to in my life. It’s just crucial that people learn their stuff so they can distinguish accurately between the True Will of their dharma, their higher purpose, & the dictates/whims/desires of the ego, which it may try to present to us as some grand, important project as a rationalization technique when in fact it’s just selling us the same selfish, egoistic lifestyle patterns we are trying to develop past.

    If you practice these rituals are you are opening yourself up to inter-dimensional entities? If so, how do you know they are malevolent or benevolent? Furthermore if they tell you they are benevolent then how do you know they are being honest and not just lying to you in order to manipulate you?

    Perhaps this is why the Ten Commandments prohibit the making of graven images, because they can be vested with power and become powerful spiritual beings

      Eclectic witchcraft is based on folk practices, while chaos magick is based on the ceremonial ones. Sometimes they go together tho
