- I matched up the 3D scan of my room to the dimensions of my actual room. Jumping on bed in VR ensued.
note: the Tilt Brush smooth HMD view is slightly higher than the position of my headset, so it seems like I'm taller in VR that I actually am. That's just a perspective difference
Imagine you play a horror game with this technology. It's gonna be your heart stopping moment.
This technology blows my mind. Would love to see a video documenting your process of taking pictures/scanning a room for something like this.
Now imagine a 360° camera attached to the ceiling that changes the position of objects in VR when you interact with them in real life.
this is what derealisation is like lol
Yo dawg I heard you like VR, so I photoscanned your room, so you can play VR in your room, while playing VR in your room.
I actually expected him to try and go upstairs, he'll be teleported to some other planet
Up next, photogrammetry scanning the whole neighbourhood.
Damn. It looks real because of the scanned textures, the only thing left is motion blurring seen on actual real life footage.
Imagine having this tech when you were younger and scanning your childhood room. Then revisiting it in the future in vivid detail. Being able to look at old photos on the walls, your books on the shelves, toys/knick knacks you had, maybe even looking out the window and seeing your neighborhood how it used to look. It'd be like subform of time travel. This is awesome.
It's really adorable how you jump on your bed with joy
jumping on bed: boring
This is just looking with extra steps
VR was created with the intention of taking people to other worlds.
Next step:
Me: Mum can we have home?
looks out window
I like this idea. You can always have that version of your room on vr
Imagine if it was multiplayer and you could invite your friends from across the world.
Imagine in 20 years when he puts on His vr, just to Travel back to His old room 😄
definitely the best result ive seen from photogrammetry!
