People have been yapping on about some digital thing for a while now. I might have to upgrade my old film cameras and find out what all the fuss is about..
Another triumph Gavin….brilliant video….interesting, informative and a chunk of humour thrown in!….can’t wait to see the big fire-up (sorry, start-up 😉) Stephen.
The Sorcerer's Apprentice graduates in Wizardry, with Honours and a chorus of birds cheering him on. Bravo fella. Bravo!!!! And THANK YOU, of course. The Landy looks really good.
Thanks 1 Unsung, those bloody birds are loud! And not always consistent, I recorded them making a racket so I can overlay them over audio where they are absent. Many shots are done out of sequence so they're not always singing and it would sound bad if they kept cutting in and out. I've been forced to embrace their disruptive applause or mockery, uncertain which it is.
Indeed I am. One of the “guns and rovers” forum crowd and I met him at the 75th LR anniversary celebration at Greek Peak, NY last fall. (Check out the forum if you haven’t already. Gobs of wonderful esoteric rover info)
There are few things that I enjoy more than watching someone else figure out a wiring harness. The electrical system has always made me find something else to work on if it could be avoided. Great explanations and animations. I may just set out and rewire my cj2a. Oh wait, I could replace the seals in the transfer case.
This is Cory Anderson. You set the standard of lethally devilish good looks and smarts for the rest us Land Rover-aholics. We are just trying to keep up!!! 😀 Thank you for the mention! You are awesome!! I’m dig’n the relay/fuse box assembly. Keeps everything nice and clean. Did you buy the fancy cover for the fuse box? I see all the options on their website. Very cool. Too rich for my blood. But definitely nice.
Greetings there you outrageously handsome fellow! The fuse box turned out well and the cover came with it. The expense paid off for me in simplifying the mission. There's still some space for when I install the 'Gangsta' under chassis multi colored lights for 'cruisin' the hood.
@@ForemanAndWilmsAdventures I agree, definitely make wiring a lot easier and compact. Lots of options for when Pimp Daddy Foreman is roll’n da strip… ha ha!!
I am starting to think you are a better video editor than a mechanic, snappy sizzling animation with in synch sound effects. Is there any other Landrover vlogs in the pipeline line to help us cope with withdrawal symptoms when you finally finish with this restoration.
The ability to abuse ones poetic license with Special FX is a major driving force behind the film making passion while the swinging wrenches business has evolved out of necessity. So I am a little better at the former than the latter. Not sure where our channel goes after the Series 1 series? There will be more films but like our entire journey no plan has been devised.
Nice Gav. Love the airbags and reference to Kylie😀. And the quote of your whole series so far “he’s just another one of these outrageously handsome Land Rover guys that are clever and crafty as well. It’s a lethal combination.”
I absolutely love your Aussie humour. The airbags must be compulsory over in the Sates! Love all your videos. Wilms is a genius on editing , I've been watching for the really old ones in the early years in WA CHEERS mate. i'm in Perth at the moment doing the big lap
Greetings Dave. Say hello to everyone in Perth for me. No-one knows who I am but say G'day anyway. I'm guessing by the season you'd be heading north. Good trip ahead for you. Best of luck.
The only change i would possibly have made was if your relays are dual trow (dpdt or spdt), you could have fed the power from your driving lights relay into the common and made the raly trigger the high / low beam. Did this on my SIIA, when i replaced the floor dip switch (which was the best idea for country driving, placed exactly where the left foot rested). Great animation and effects as always.
A floor operated dip switch came with the truck but decided to use the steering column multi switch, not much room down in the footwells, they've been trimmed a bit to accommodate the V8 that had been squeezed into the engine bay. The fuse box was all setup for the headlights so I ran with that. I figured I was out of my depth already and opted not to get too inventive.
Yeah I had a P76 V8 in my SIIA, but it's a bigger truck, so it's understandable. Also, sticking to the instructions is always a good idea if out of your depth... 😊
Thanks Rich! Most of the custom brackets use existing holes so much of what I've done can be rolled back if a new owner chose to. Not that I'll ever sell the old chariot but I might die one day.
That's a very neat fuse and relay unit. Looks to be very well designed and thought out. Using relays on these old machines is a great move and sure makes it easier to fault find. No more tracking down dead headlights in the dark on the side of the road in the rain. Ive been there a few times. It may be worth adding a secret coil or ignition kill switch for a little theft reduction.
The kill switch idea is a good one and if the truck ends up going on trips then I think I will find a secret spot for one. I probably shouldn't have written that on a public platform though. I've just told the world why the truck won't start.
I now know how relays work - not that it is ever likely to ever help me in any way but it is interesting LOL I never cease to be amazed at the effort you put in to creating these videos - all that on top of doing the project itself.
Nice work, great job on the restoration and the series. One suggestion/question if I may. Why not install the fuse box inside the cabin where it is more likely to live longer without oxidation?
Greetings. Glad you like the series. There's no good place to put the fuse box inside the cab where it wouldn't be either inconspicuous or at risk of it's wires getting knocked about, It won't fit in behind the dash panel. Where it is currently installed is where the original was so I'm hoping the new one will be fine.
What a fantastic series. Love the project, the production values, the humour. Amazing. What is wrong with the RUclips algorithm? This channel should be hitting 10x the views it is getting. A lot of people are missing out.
I've been in awe of Miss Minagoo since I first saw her smack her neighbors co-star right in the mouth many moons ago. I'm not quite cool enough to be a Swifty but if they look hard enough they'll see me lurking on the fringes.
Don’t shoot the messenger. Due to the vibrations when running ( very soon when you brought over some more recording tape ), your cables might snap at the screw edge of your fuses/relay terminal. Just add some cables sleeves end terminals, crimp, and retighten in terminal. Will look way better and more important, will last forever and ever. Good luck mate. Now get that extra tape. Waited long enough😂!
I'm a terrible shot so you're safe there. Your message has not only been considered but is to be acted on. I did wonder how secure the wires would be and after reading your script became convinced it's the right way to go. Thanks for the tip.
Dear Mister Foreman, May I ask please; Does the multimeter come with the airbags ? Or, the airbags with the multimeter??. It's just that I noticed a pinkish lineage there. PS your wiring skills are honing very nicely into a Masters Degree therein. PPS, Yes, wiring diagrams and maps too have a certain lineage; as both can be even More confusing until yoou get them the right way up. 🙃🙂😇 And Wilms!!, your mystic mastery of animationings is truly magnificent! 🥰 Gavin, how on earth are we meant to keep breathing, after such a shocking final cut at the end? {No START!!!!} Waaaaagh.😱
Greetings Noel, thought I should throw in a cliff hanger to mix things up a bit, the airbags and multi meter are the same color by coincidence only. It's also true that wiring diagrams make more sense when correctly orientated helped greatly by wearing ones glasses. It's amazing what one can achieve when they can see what they're doing.
@@ForemanAndWilmsAdventuresJust be careful to put on the glasses the right way up. All your arduous eons of timeless toil is in fact bearing fruit. Electrickery tamed, well done, not easy at all. Had to laugh at your Bondo sidelight platform. I could have 3D printed a platform for you and saved lots of time (other than the shipping time)
What program do you use for the modelling? My 3D skills are highly fragmented being self taught. I'll have to look deeper into settings and stuff as some models I import into other programs turn up tiny and others huge. 3Ds Max to Maya is a good example and Maya to After effects Element3D another. As I've said before the 3D printer concept is crazy good. My Bondo platforms are a little thick but they work and with the paint over top they blend in.
@@ForemanAndWilmsAdventures I discovered recently the Pinjarra library has a 3D printer, clients for the use of. I need to check out that little town at the end of the Murray River.

Obviously, your actual wiring differed from your otherwise excellent explanation in one important respect: otherwise the turn signals would not work correctly, as they do. The error in the explanation is that the Hazard switch is not single pole switch as is shown, but is instead a double pole switch, with one pole for the left turn signals, and one for the right. At the input the poles are commoned, so that when the switch is closed, both sides receive power, but when the switch is open, there is no connection between the left and right sides.
Hang in there Dennis! I'm filming the finale now. In truth I was wondering if I myself would drop off the perch before the series finished. That may still happen.
As a veteran of project binky your build has been positively rapid! Many thanks for entertaining us for many an hour.
I think I've seen a Binkey video or two. These restorations can take a while, even longer if one foolishly commits to filming them.
