Singing these duets with Johnny Duncan finally convinced Janie to start her solo career in Country Music. Before that she was doing commercial jingles. My favorite song of hers is "She's single again. " Listen to Janie & Johnny do "Thinkin' of a rendezvous, or "Come a little bit closer." Their 1st duet together was "Stranger" which l think you already listened to.
That's Janie Fricke who is unbilled as his female duet partner. Love this song. A Great request! This single is from 1977. So, I was 11 years old. Some of my favorite Janie Fricke songs are "My Last Broken Heart", "It Ain't Easy Being Easy", and "If Your Hearts Not In It". I remember that you reacted to "She's Single Again" some time ago. Janie was a very popuylar artist from the late 70's on through the Mid 80's. Pretty sure she won Best Female Vocalist at the CMA's or ACM's one year.
I knew you were gonna be rather shocked Don! Not surprised. That expression once it dawned on you said it all. While we are on the subject of overlooked or forgotten duets It would be great to hear reactions to Holly Dunn and Michael Martin Murphy "A Face In The Crowd". Holly and Kenny Rogers "Maybe", Marie Osmond and Paul Davis "New To Me". Suzy Bogguss and Lee Greenwood "Hopelessly Yours", Lari White and Toby Keith "Only God Could Stop Me Loving You". Kelly Willis and Kevin Welch "That'll Be Me". Kelly and Monte Warden ""The Only One". And Marty Brown and Joy Lynn White "I Love Only You". All of these are definitely worthy of serious reappraisal and discovery.Lari had another duet with Rodney Crowell called "Anything Goes" but I can't find it on RUclips. Also an unofficial duet with Back up partner Hal Ketchem on her Top 10 hit "That's How You Know". Not to be confused with "Now I Know" which you reacted to almost a year ago. We are coming up on the 7th Anniversary of Lari's passing in January of 2018. Hard to believe it's been that long already. I believe it was the 23rd. I will look it up. Can't think right now. That's doesn't sound quite right.
It's a Johnny Duncan song so it's automatically a cheating song. And Janie Fricke also sang with him (while they were seeing each other irl) on "Thinking of a Rendezvous", another cheating song. I was waiting for your reaction on the end of the chorus lol!
The background singer is Janie Fricke and has music out herself. She’s Single Again, It Ain’t Easy Being Easy, and He's a Heartache are a few of her songs.
@davidemswiler4351 Thanks for the sentiments, and it was disappointing, but I divorced myself several years ago from connecting my happiness to the wagons of teenagers. Ha!! (P.S. I’m marginally delusional-the ending sucked. 😇)
Johnny had one of the smoothest voices
The back up vocalist was Janie Fricke

Like everyone else, I'm sure, I was waiting for that line to see your reaction. The look on your face was priceless.
Johnny and Janie, come a little bit closer is a great one. 😊
Interesting choice, I do love Janie Fricke's voice. Agree with your comments on the sentiment of it, but musically it works. Thanks Don

Janie Frickie sings with Vern Gosdin too. Very good
Classic. Good insight on Janie. Can ya do another Johnny Duncan?`--'Day Drinker'
It could've been better if Rutgers had won! Sorry about the game Don...it was a real nail biter!
