No 5: "Look alike" doesn't mean "identical".
Stop sugar coating things. If they can learn as just as well and have less health complexities then there’s no disorder in the first place. It’s like saying someone with autism and ADHD has no impact. With the right education we can bla bla bla.
Our four kids with Down Syndrome learn differently, but are they are all able to talk, read, write, and spell. None of them have any health issues. They rarely get sick. I can't even recall one time in the last 5 years that any of them have even had a fever.
Why do you think their health is bad? It has nothing to do with health, there are many Down Syndrome people who goes to GYM and sports

5 is false. You can literally always tell if someone has downs by look.
While you can tell relatively easily if an individual has down syndrome, this says more about them sharing similar physical traits than them all looking exactly the same. This is the same with race where you can tell if someone is Indian but that doesn’t mean that all Indians look alike. I guess the main issue with the video is a wording problem.
Although the sub heading says that a common misconception is that they look alike, the actual intention of what the person’s saying is that people with down syndrome aren’t clones of one another in terms of appearance.

There is definitely a characteristic Downs look (which I actually love! Probably most people who've ever been close to someone with Downs do) that's true. But beyond that they all have their own individual appearance which varies widely just like with other people, including different hair and eye color of course. If you put two people with Downs syndrome next to each other you can definitely tell them apart they don't look the same in that way like identical twins!!
@@Imarida2I have seen that too I know what you mean! Just looked it up though and read that only humans can get Downs actually, but that other animals can have things that look similar.
The 3rd one I know from experience I have a girl with down syndrome at my school and she's nice sometimes but she's also usually pissed
I've met some down syndrome people, and their learning and cognitive abilities seemed pretty normal to me.

I'm so confused about DS. The only thing I've noticed were their looks and some speech. What does it do other than basically affecting their face?
It varies widely from person to person, all different levels of functioning too. I'm not speaking from an educated point of view just personal experience; just realized I actually don't know the "official" answer to that either, anyone else better at explaining?

Some common physical features of Down syndrome include a flattened face, outside corners of the eyes that point upward, small ears, a short neck, and a tongue that tends to stick out of the mouth. They may also have almond-shaped eyes.
Since people with down syndrome share same physical features, they may look similar, but each individual has his own personality and abilities.

Additionally, people with Down syndrome, like all people, come from diverse ethnic and cultural backgrounds, which can also affect their physical features.
You’re talking about the common Phenotypic patterns not the overall appearance. If you meet a bunch you’ll be able to tell them apart. They have very similar features but they don’t look 100% the same.
